TheP-7100employsnaturalaircooling.Therightandleft
heatsinksandthetoooanelwillfeelhottothetouchdur-
ing
operation.
Thisisnormal
anddoes
not
pose
aproblem
regardingreliability
andperformance.
However,when
choosingan
installationlocation,
you
shouldalwaysob-
servethefollowing
precautions.
. N4akesureto
provide
for
proper
aircirculation,andavoid
locationswithhighlevels
ofdustor
humidity.
o Avoidlocations
subjecttodirectsunlight.
o Avoldlocationsclosetoheatingappliances.
o Choose
a level,
stablesurfacethat
isnot
subiecttovi-
brations.
Neverstack the unit directlv on top of a power ampli-
fier or other audio comoonent.
lAlways turn the power to all components off be-
fore connecting or disconnecting any speaker
cables or inpuVoutput cables.

poles
do
notmake
orbreakcontactsimultaneously,

properly,
itmaycome

contact
with
thechassisor
withinput
oroutputcon-
nectors.This

ier.
IAC power cord connection
Sincethe
P-7100isratedforhigh
power
consumption,
plug
the
power
cordofthe
unitdirectly
into
awall
outlet
with
a
sufficlent
power
capacityrating.
ITurn the volume at the preamplifier or similar
down before setting the power switch to OFF.
IDisconnect the power cord plug when not using
the unit for an extended time.
lDo not turn the power switch OFF and then im-
mediately ON again. Wait at least 10seconds, oth-
erwise noise or other problems may occur.
lDo not use contact refreshers or other chemicals
on the input and output jacks, since these can
cause aging in resin parts and lead to damage.
Maintenance
o Before
performing
maintenance,disconnect
the
power
cordfromtheACoutlet.
o lfrequired,cleantheunitcarefullywitha soft,
slightly
moistenedcloth,andthenwipeit
dry.
Neveruse
sol-
vents
orabrasivecleaningagents,sincethesewill
dam-
age
the
finish.
Usage
Precautions
lln some cases,when internal protection circuitry
hasbeentriggered,the output will beshutoff and
the meterillumination
flashesas a warningindi-
cation.
O Thermal protection
lf
dueto
installation
conditionsorotherreasonstheheat
sinktemperatureexceedsacertainthresholdlevel,the
output
isautomatically
cutoffandthemeter
illumination
flashesasawarningindication.
ln
suchacase,
turn
power
totheP-7100offandwait
until
theheatsinkshavefully
cooleddown
(several
hours).
Thenturn
power
on
again.Thiswillreset
the
protection
circuitry.
lf
forsome
reason
thetemperaturerisesevenfurther,
causingthe
internal
temperatureofthe
power
transformer
toexceed
the
allowable
tflreshold,thecircuitbreakerin-
tegratedinthe
power
transformer
willbetriggeredand
turn
the
power
offautomatically.
This
breakerresetsitself
whenthetemperaturereturnstonormallevels.
€Abnormal signal protection
When
anabnormalsignalcontainingDC
components
is
inputto
the
P-7100,
theoutput
is
automatically
cutoff
andthemeterilluminationflashes
asawarninoindica-
Iton.
ln
suchacase.turn
oower
totheP-7100offandremove
thecauseofthe
problem.
Then
turn
power
onagain.This
willresetthe
protection
circuitry.
