Installing the Chassis Rails
Thetworail sections must be detachedfromeach other prior to installation:depressthe locking tab on
theinnerrail to release it fromitslocked position then pull thetwo rails completely apart. Dothisfor both
theleft and right side rack rail assemblies.
Positionthefixed chassis rail sections youjustremoved along the sideofthe chassis making sure the
threescrewholeslineup.Note that these two rails are left/rightspecific.Screwtherailsecurely to the
side of the chassis (see Figure
2-2).Repeatthis procedure for the otherrailon the other side of thechassis. You willalsoneed to attach
therailbracketswheninstalling into a telco rack.
Locking Tabs: Both chassis rails havea locking tab, whichserves two functions. The first isto lock the
serverintoplacewheninstalledandpushedfullyintotherack,whichisitsnormal position. Secondly,
thesetabs also lock the server in place when fully extended from the rack. This prevents the server from
comingcompletely out of the rack when you pull it out for servicing.
Installing the Rack Rails
Determinewhereyou want to place theserverin the rack (see RackandServer Precautions in Section 2-
3). Position the fixed rack rail/sliding rail guide assemblies at the desired location in the rack, keeping the
slidingrailguide facing the insideofthe rack. Screw the assemblysecurely to the rack usingthe brackets
provided.Attachtheotherassembly to the other side oftherack, making sure that both are attheexact
sameheightandwith the rail guides facinginward.
