1 System Overview
1.1 General Descrip ion
The ADSL rou er is a high-speed ADSL2+ E herne rou er ha is specifically designed o connec o
he In erne and o direc ly connec o your local area ne work (LAN) via high-speed 10/100 Mbps
E herne . The ADSL2+ modem is compa ible wi h he la es ADSL s andards, including ADSL2 and
ADSL2+, and suppor s up o 24 Mbps downs ream and 1.5 Mbps ups ream o deliver rue
broadband speed and hroughpu .
To ensure fully compa ibili y, he DSL device was es ed wi h all major DSLAMs, and suppor
s andard 10/100 Mbps Base-T E herne in erface allowing user easily o link o PC or o her
Swi ches/Hubs. The DSL device is an idea solu ion for mul i-users u ilizing build-in channel mode
(PPPoE/A, IPoA, IPoE), IP rou ing, NAT func ionali ies sharing he ADSL link. The DSL device is
also a perfec solu ion for he residen ial users, i suppor s he users wi h bridge mode in hos based
PPPoE Clien .

3 Softw re Configur tion
The DSL device is an ADSL2+ rou er. When you power on he device, he sys em will boo
up and connec o ADSL au oma ically. The sys em provides a PVC for bridge es by
defaul . The defaul configura ions for he sys em are lis ed below.
LAN IP address: 192.168.1.1, Ne Mask: 255.255.255.0
VPI/VCI for ATM: 0/0.
ADSL Line mode: Au o-de ec .
User can change se ings via WEB browser. The following sec ions describe he se up
procedures.
Please se your PC’s E herne por as follow:
IP address: 192.168.1.XXX
Ne Mask: 255.255.255.0
Access he Web Console:
S ar your web browser.
Type he E herne IP address of he modem/rou er on he address bar of he
browser. Defaul IP address is 192.168.1.1.
The Enter Network P ssword dialog box appears. Type he user name and

3.2 WAN Configura ion
There are hree sub-menu for WAN configura ion: [Channel Config], [ATM Se ings], and
[ADSL Se ings].
3.2.1 Ch nnel Configur tion
ADSL modem/rou er comes wi h 8 ATM Permanen Vir ual Channels (PVCs) a he mos .
There are mainly hree opera ions for each of he PVC channels: add, dele e and modify.
And here are several channel modes o be selec ed for each PVC channel. For each of he
channel modes, he se ing is qui e differen accordingly. Please reference o he sec ion –
Ch nnel Mode Configur tion for de ails.

Modify
Selec an exis ing PVC channel by clicking he radio bu on a he Select column of he
Current ATM VC T ble before we can modify he PVC channel. Af er selec ing a PVC
channel, we can modify he channel configura ion a his page. Click Modify o
comple e he channel modifica ion and apply o he configura ion.
Delete Selected
Selec an exis ing PVC channel o be dele ed by clicking he radio bu on a he Select
column of he Current ATM VC T ble. Click Delete Selected o dele e his PVC
channel from configura ion.
Auto PVC Se rch
The overall opera ion of he au o-sensing PVC fea ure relies on end- o-end OAM
pings or packe discovery o defined PVCs. There are wo kinds of PVCs: cus omer
defaul PVCs which are defined by he OEM/ISP and he backup PVCs. The backup
lis of PVCs is of he following VPI/VCI: 0/35, 8/35, 0/43, 0/51, 0/59, 8/43, 8/51, and
8/59. We can add/dele e VPI/VCI in o he backup lis . By clicking “Apply” bu on, he
au o-search mechanism can be enabled.
During connec ion es ablishmen , he PVC module will firs search he firs cus omer
defaul PVC. If he firs defaul PVC is found, he PVC module will s op his search. If
no found, he backup PVC lis is used. If a PVC is found, he PVC module will upda e
he par icular PVC as he firs defaul PVC. If no PVC is found again, he module will
le he end-user know ha no available VCC was found
.
Wi h he connec ion es ablished, he PVC is s ored in flash as he connec ion defaul
PVC. Therefore upon reboo , his PVC is au oma ically chosen as he PVC for ha
connec ion.

3.2.2 ATM Setting
The page is for ATM PVC QoS parame ers se ing. The DSL device suppor 4 QoS
mode —CBR/r -VBR/nr -VBR/UBR.

VCI Vir ual Channel Iden ifier. This is read-only field and is selec ed on he Select

he nex des ina ion of a cell as i passes hrough o he ATM swi ch.

hos over a ne work. The four QoS op ions are:
− UBR (Unspecified Bi Ra e): When UBR is selec ed, he SCR and
MBS fields are disabled.
− CBR
(Cons an Bi Ra e): When CBR is selec ed, he SCR and MBS
fields are disabled.
− nr -VBR (non-real- ime Variable Bi Ra e): When nr -VBR is
selec ed, he SCR and MBS fields are enabled.
− r -VBR (real- ime Variable Bi Ra e): When r -VBR is selec ed, he
SCR and MBS fields are enabled.
PCR Peak Cell Ra e, measured in cells/sec., is he cell ra e which he source may never
exceed.
SCR Sus ained Cell Ra e, measured in cells/sec., is he average cell ra e over he
dura ion of he connec ion.
MBS Maximum Burs
Size, a raffic parame er ha specifies he maximum number of cells
ha can be ransmi ed a he peak cell ra e.

3.3 Services Configura ion
3.3.1 DHCP Settings
You can configure your ne work and DSL device o use he Dynamic Hos Configura ion
Pro ocol (DHCP). This page provides DHCP ins ruc ions for implemen ing i on your
ne work by selec ing he role of DHCP pro ocol ha his device wan s o play. There are wo
differen DHCP roles ha his device can ac as: DHCP Server and DHCP Relay.
3.3.1.1 DHCP Server Configura ion
By defaul , he device is configured as a DHCP server, wi h a predefined IP address pool of
192.168.1.2 hrough 192.168.1.100 (subne mask 255.255.255.0).

seconds (1 day). The value –1 s ands for he infini e lease.
Domain Name A user-friendly name ha refers o he group of hos s (subne ) ha will be assigned
addresses from his pool.

Some ISPs perform he DHCP relay func ion for heir cus omers’ home/small office ne work.
In his case, you can configure his device o ac as a DHCP relay agen . When a hos on
your ne work reques s In erne access, he device con ac s your ISP o ob ain he IP
configura ion, and hen forward ha informa ion o he hos . You should se he DHCP
mode af er you configure he DHCP relay.

3.3.2.2 Dynamic DNS
Each ime your device connec s o he In erne , your ISP assigns a differen IP address o
your device. In order for you or o her users o access your device from he WAN-side, you
need o manually rack he IP ha is curren ly used. The Dynamic DNS fea ure allows you
o regis er your device wi h a DNS server and access your device each ime using he same
hos name. The Dyn mic DNS page allows you o enable/disable he
Dynamic DNS fea ure.
