Adaptec Serial Attached SCSI 48300
The Adaptec Serial Attached SCSI 48300 card
features Adaptec HostRAID™ – an integrated
RAID technology that maximizes system
performance and uptime providing high-
performance data throughput for mission
critical applications. The Adaptec 48300
includes eight 3 Gb/s ports, supporting
up to 128 devices, one x4 internal SFF-8484
connector, and one external x4 SFF-8470
connector. The card offers RAID levels 0, 1,
and 10 as well as 48-bit LBA support for
the use of disk drives exceeding 137GB in
capacity. The Adaptec 48300 supports
Windows® 2000, Windows Server 2003,
Windows XP, and Linux.

The Adaptec 48300 improves performance
over a comparable SCSI RAID controller by
offering a PCI-X/133 MHz host interface
with bandwidth up to 1056 MB/s, which is
twice as much as a common 64bit PCI
interface. Its eight SAS ports can deliver a
throughput of approximately 300 MB/s each.
Easy-to-use storage management
The Adaptec 48300 operates under Adaptec
Storage Manager™, a storage management
tool that centralizes management of all
Adaptec host-based and all hardware based
RAID products. The software enables remote
management, monitoring, and configuration
of RAID arrays through secure, encrypted
remote communications. The intuitive RAID
management tool provides pop-up tips and
online help to simplify the creation and
management of RAID arrays.
