Quick Installation Guide
OVERVIEW
This Quick Installation Guide addresses the optional Remote DC
Power System (WFX-3100), and includes product specifications
and installation instructions.
The ADC family of products includes the following items:
•ADC Wireless LAN Array (WFX-3900/3700/3500) – ADC offers
multiple versions of the Wireless LAN Array to support a variety
of deployment types and client migration strategies. Each
Wireless LAN Array includes an embedded Array Controller and
comes in 16 (WFX-3900), 8 (WFX-3700), and 4 (WFX-3500)
Integrated Access Point configurations.
•ADC Centralized Management Platform (WFX-3300) – The
optional WFX-3300 can discover, authenticate and configure up
to 500 Wireless LAN Arrays from anywhere in the network.
•ADC Remote DC Power System (WFX-3100) – The optional
WFX-3100 provides a 48 volt DC power source for remotely
powering up to 12 DC-compatible Wireless LAN Arrays (for
example, WFX-3900-DC) in the event AC power is unavailable
or is cost prohibitive to deploy. The DC-compatible Wireless LAN
Array has a Buchanan socket located next to the ON/OFF
switch.
Features
• Distributes 48V DC power for up to 12 Wireless LAN Arrays.
• Uses standard CAT-5 data-grade cable.
• Needs only 2 cables (1 data and 1 power) per Wireless LAN
deployment.
• Supports up to 3 Power (Expansion) Modules, providing
maximum flexibility during Wi-Fi rollouts.
• When used with a UPS, the WFX-3100 grants all Wireless LAN
Arrays immunity to power outages.
• Fits into existing wiring closets and uses minimal rack space.
SPECIFICATIONS
Table 1 provides product specifications for the WFX-3100 Chassis
(WFX-3100-C) and the WFX-3100 Expansion (Power) Module
(WFX-3100-M).
