Start
DESCRIPTION
The 424RG/434RG Optical Network Terminal (ONT) Fiber Tray
and Wall Mount Bracket (ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket) is used to
mount either of the following ONTs to a wall:
■ADTRAN 424RG 2 POTS/4 GigE Dual Band WiFi ONT
(P/N 1287781F1)
■ADTRAN 434RG 2 POTS/4 GigE RF MoCA Dual Band WiFi
ONT (P/N 1287782F1)
Required Tools
The following tools are required when installing the ONT Fiber
Tray and Bracket.
■Power drill (optional)
■Carpenter’s level (optional)
■Phillips-head Screwdriver
■Hammer
Installation Steps
To install the ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket, complete the following
steps:
1. Select Location and Mount Bracket.
2. Attach Incoming Fiber Cable to Bracket.
3. Remove Base (if required) from ONT.
4. Remove Logo Panel from ONT.
5. Connect Incoming Fiber Cable to ONT.
6. Attach ONT to ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket.
Step 1: Select Location and Mount Bracket
Select a location to mount the ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket near
the fiber entrance. Use the supplied hardware to mount the
bracket to the wall as follows:
Supplied hardware is intended for drywall mounting only. For
mounting on surfaces other than drywall, obtain the appropriate
mounting hardware and follow the provided instructions.
1. Refer to Figure 1 and mark hole locations using the ONT
Fiber Tray and Bracket as a template. Use a carpenter’s
level to ensure the bracket is level.
2. Start anchor into the wall by using a hammer to lightly tap
the anchor in until the threads are close to the wall.
gNOTE
Pre-drill holes using a 1/4” drill bit if difficulty is encountered.
3. Insert either a No. 2 or No. 3 Phillips driver bit into the recess
of the anchor head.
4. Using gentle forward pressure, rotate the wall anchor
clockwise until the collar is flush with the wall.
5. Align the ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket with the anchors.
Insert and tighten the #6 screws until the bracket is secured
to the wall.

Step 2. Attach Incoming Fiber Cable to Bracket
Refer to Figure 2 and wrap any excess incoming fiber around the
ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket.
Do not exceed a minimum bend radius of 2-inches when installing
fiber cabling.

Step 6: Attach ONT to ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket
1. Refer to Figure 5 and position the ONT Mounting Sots so
that these align with the Mounting Bracket Tabs on the ONT.
2. Refer to Figure 6 and position the ONT so that the two
mounting tabs on the top of the ONT Fiber Tray and Bracket
align with the mounting slots in the back of the ONT.
3. Refer to Figure 6 and gently push the ONT towards the ONT
Fiber Tray and Bracket until the ONT snap onto the bracket.

Step 3. Remove Base (if required) from ONT
Refer to Figure 3 and remove the screw that holds the base to the
bottom of the ONT.
After the base has been removed, reinsert the screw into the
bottom of the ONT and tighten.

Step 4. Remove Logo Panel from ONT
Refer to Figure 4 and remove the Logo Panel from the ONT by
pulling it straight out from the ONT housing.

Step 5. Connect Incoming Fiber Cable to ONT
Refer to Figure 5 and connect the Incoming Fiber Cable to the
Fiber Connector on the bottom of the ONT.

Once all cables have been reconnected, refer to the LED table
below to ensure the ONT is operating properly.
424RG and 434RG LEDs
“*” This indicates the use of the feature is dependant upon provisioning by network
personnel.
“**” This option is only available on the 434RG ONT.
