1Power supply
The AMP 4/8 needs 9..30 V/DC. Be sure that the SAB cap s mounted r ghtly when you sw tch on
the power supply. Do never remove the SAB cap when the power supply s act ve. Otherw se the elec-
tron c can be damaged.
It s very mportant to power the AMP w th a clean ground (w thout any electr cal nterferences).
The best way s, to use the same ground as the read ng system.
2Interface
The AMP has a RS232 or USB nterface. The standard parameters are: 19200 baud, 1 startb t, 8
datab ts, 1 stopb t, no par tyb t.
Instructions
.1 Changing the modes
There are 3 d fferent modes to sw tch the channels of the AMP 4/8:
Mode 1: v a RS232/USB nterface
Mode 2: v a reader ARE 2
Mode 3: v a d g tal nputs
The d fferent modes effect just the sw tch ng of the channels. All other nstruct ons are everyt me ava l-
able v a the RS232/USB nterface.
You have to save the sett ngs w th the command “VSAVE” after chang ng the mode to make th s sett ng
ava lable after a new start of the AMP 4/8.

.2 Switching the channel
The command for sw tch ng the channel depends on the used mode.
Mode 1 and mode 2:

Us ng the parameter 1..8 the channels 1..8 are sw tched. Us ng the parameter 0 sw tches no chan-
nel.
Mode 3:
The controll ng s done w th the d g tal nputs.

Th s command shows the actual vers on of the AMP 4/8.

.4 Initialization with default values
Th s command n t al zates the AMP 4/8 w th the default values. You have to save the sett ngs w th
the command “VSAVE” f you want to make the values ava lable after reboot.

.5 Saving of the actual settings
The sett ngs can be saved w th the command “VSAVE”.

.6 Changing the baudrate
Th s command changes the baudrate of the AMP 4/8.

.7 Warmstart with saved parameters
W th th s command the AMP 4/8 restarts w th the saved parameters.

4Startup and testing the AMP 4/8
•Connect the reader v a cable w th the ser al nterface (COM) from your notebook or pc.
•Connect the reader w th your power supply (9..30V DC). Look after the polar ty!
•Sw tch the power supply on. The yellow LED of the AMP starts to bl nk.
•Start your term nal programme. You have to set the follow ng sett ngs: 8 data b ts, 1 start b t
und 1 stop b t, no par ty check (often called 8N1), baud rate 19200 baud, no flow control(e.g.
XOFF/XON).
•Send the command „VER <CR>“ to the AMP. The reader answers w th the actual f rmware
vers on (e.g. AEG ID AMP8 V1.3).
•Change to mode 1 w th the command “MO 1” (the default value s MO 2)
•W th the command “MP 1” .. “MP 8” you can change the antenna channels.
