Do not make any changes to the electrical circuits of the PCB.
1Safety information
Turn off the power at the main switchboard before installing the buffer.
Connecting a lower or higher input voltage may result in product failure or injuries.
The correct input voltage range is 24 VDC (9‐36 VDC).
Make sure that the input voltage is within the input voltage range of the buffer.
Product failure and injuries may be caused when power is tuned on during installation.
When making any changes the hazardous voltage might cause an electrical shock, fire or injuries.

The MP2x8i NMEA Buffer has been designed to distribute NMEA or other RS422 signals from one transmitter up to 8 listeners.
The transmitted signal is galvanically isolated from the power supply and all listeners. The unit can operate with signal speed up
to 230400 bps and power supply range from 9 to 36 VDC.
The MP2x8i has two operating modes: Dual Independent Transmission and Single Input Transmission with auto switching, described
on page 6 and 7. When you are using the Single Input Transmission you are able to connect two independent NMEA transceivers
and distribute the main signal to all listeners.

SW1: DIP Switch. Configuration switch is used to configure the working mode of the NMEA Buffer. SW1‐1 ON set Single Input
Transmission with auto switching and SW1‐1 OFF set dual Dual Independent Transmission. SW1‐2 is not used in this application.

Auto mode works as a regular buffer with 1 input and 8 outputs. It has automatic switching to input 2 if input 1 stops to receive
the data (signal loss). Automatic switch will occur within approximately 30 seconds after the signal of input 1 is lost. Switching
back to input 1 occurs immediately after signal is restored.

LED (red) operating mode:
Input 1 LED and input 2 LED will blink simultaneously when the data is received and transmitted to the output.
Power LED: Continuous lit when input power is detected.



Dual input independent transmission mode:
Dual Input Independent Transmission mode works as two independent buffers with 1 input and 4 outputs each. Signals from
input 1 and input 2 are not mixed and independently transmitted to the outputs.

LED (red) operating mode:
Input 1 LED and input 2 LED will blink both (not simultaneously), depending on the transmission time of the input source.
Power LED: Continuous lit when input power is detected.


