IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE
AT TENTION: the fan coil is
connected to the power supply and
the hydraulic circuit. Operations
performed by persons who do not
have the required technical skills
can lead to personal injury to the
operator or damage to the unit and
the surrounding environment.
SUPPLY THE FAN COIL ONLY WITH
VOLTAGE 230V ~ 50Hz
The fan coil may be permanently
damaged if a different electric power
supply is used.
D O N O T U S E T H E FA N CO I L
IMPROPERLY
The fan coil must not be used to breed,
deliver and raise animals.
AIR OUT THE ROOM
Periodically air out the room in which
the fan coil has been installed; this is
particularly important if the room is
occupied by many people, or if there are
gas appliances or sources of odours.
A D J U S T T H E T E M P E R A T U R E
CORRECTLY
Ambient temperature should be regulated
to ensure maximum comfort, particularly
for the elderly, infants and invalids.
Prevent temperature fluctuations
between indoors and outdoors greater
than 7°C during summer.
Excessively low temperatures during
summer involve higher electrical
consumption.
DIRECT THE AIR FLOW CORRECTLY
Air delivered by the fan coil must not
be directed onto people. Even if the
air temperature is higher than the
ambient temperature, it can cause a cold
sensation and, therefore, discomfort.
DO NOT USE WATER THAT IS TOO HOT
Clean the fan coil by using soft cloths or
sponges with warm water at a maximum
temperature of 40°C. Do not use
chemical products or solvents on any
part of the fan coil. Do not spray water
on internal or external surfaces of the fan
coil (danger of short circuits).
CLEAN THE FILTER PERIODICALLY
Frequent cleaning of the filter will ensure
more efficient operation.
Check if the filter is excessively dirty.
Repeat the operation more frequently, if
required.
Clean often and use a suction device to
remove accumulated dust.
When the filter is clean, reassemble it onto
the fan coil by following the removal
procedure in reverse order.
EXTRAORDINARY CLEANING
Removing the augers of the inspected fans
(which can be carried out only by qualified
personnel) allows the internal parts to be
cleaned accurately. This is essential for
installation in very crowded areas or that
require high hygienic standards.
DURING OPERATION
Always leave the filter mounted on the fan
coil during operation, otherwise the dust in
the air will dirty the surface of the coil.
IT IS NORMAL
When in cooling mode, water vapour can
come out of the fan coil air flow.
When in heating mode, a slight hissing
sound can be heard near the fan coil. The
fan coil may sometimes emit unpleasant
odours due to the accumulation of
substances present in the environment
(clean the filter more often, especially if
the room is not aired out regularly).
During operation, noise and/or a creaking
sound may be heard from inside the
device due to the heat expansion of the
elements (plastic and metal), however,
this does not indicate a fault and does
not cause damage to the unit unless the
maximum input water temperature is
exceeded.
OPERATION ANOMALIES
In case of anomalous operation,
disconnect the voltage from the unit
and then re-apply it and re-start the
appliance.
ATTENTION! Do not try to repair the
unit on your own, as it may be very
dangerous!
If the problem persists, call the Area
After-sales Service immediately.
DO NOT PULL THE ELECTRIC CABLE
It is very dangerous to pull, step on or
crush the power supply cable or secure it
using nails or staples.
The damaged cable can cause short
circuits and injury to persons.
DO NOT INTRODUCE OBJECTS INTO
AIR VENTS
Do not introduce objects in the air outlet
and inlet.
This could cause injury to persons or
damage the fan.
ATTENTION
Do not allow the appliance to be used
by children or disabled people without
appropriate supervision. Remember that
children must not use the appliance as
a toy.
AIR FILTER REMOVAL AND REASSEMBLY
To clean the air filter remove it from the
fan coil.
The clean or new (replaced) air filter
must be mounted and locked in place
properly in the fan coil.
To remove the air filter:
- loosen the screws of the two filter
retainers
- make the two filter retainers slide all the
way
- pull the filter out of its seat
To remount the clean air filter:
- insert the air filter into its seat,
- make the two filter retainers slide until
locking the filter in place,
- tighten the screws of the two filter
retainers,
- make sure that the filter is locked in
place.

USE
The fan coils are delivered with standard packaging consisting in expanded polystyrene and cardboard covering.

PURPOSE OF THE VES FAN COILS
The fan coil is a terminal used to treat air, both during winter and summer. The VES fan coils have been designed to meet any
requirement in ducted systems.
In particular, the fact that the unit can be integrated in the VMF system allows you to control the individual fan coil with accessories up
to the management of the VES inserted in complex networks of fan coils and relative accessories.
DESCRIPTION OF THE UNIT
SIZES AVAILABLE
The VES fan coils are available in:
Ducted fan coils for heating, cooling, and
dehumidifying.
VES is designed to maintain the set
temperature over time while ensuring very
quiet operation. It can be installed on any
2/4-pipe system and combined with any
heat generator even at low temperatures.
Choosing the optimal solution for any
requirement is easy thanks to the various
versions, with either a standard or bigger
coil and the possibility of horizontal or
vertical installation. The main coil, which
is reversible during installation, is designed
to ensure a high heat transfer, ideal for
applications in sensitive environments.

MAIN COMPONENTS
SYSTEM TYPES
The fan coils are designed for 2 and 4-pipe
systems with fixed or variable flow rate,
in the following versions:
- with 3 rows and with 4 rows;
- 3 Rows plus a 1-row coil (BV).
VENTILATION
Ventilation is controlled from a control
panel (accessory).
The motorised 6-7-speed fan allows the
control panel to be connected to the
3 speeds that produce the ideal useful
static pressure values for the system.
HEAT EXCHANGE COIL
Main 3 and 4-row coil. One-row heating-
only coil. Coil with low pressure drops,
made with copper pipe and aluminium
corrugated louvred fins, blocked by the
mechanical expansion of the pipes. The
manifolds are equipped with female
hydraulic connections and air vents on
the upper part of the coil.
FILTERING SECTION
Intake air filter, easy to remove for
per iodical cleaning. M a de with
renewable raw materials, it can be
cleaned with a suction device.
G3 filtration class. Flame behaviour M1 NF
F 16-101.
ELECTRIC FAN UNIT
Centrifugal fans with dual intake and fans
designed for low noise emission.
The fans are coupled directly with the
electric motor shaft.
The 5-speed motorised fan gives the
possibility to select the 3 favourite
speeds, by changing the settings in the
electric box on the motor.
The electric motor is buffered with elastic
supports.
STRUCTURE
It is made with galvanised sheet metal
of suitable thickness. Internal insulation
Class 1.
Slots for installation are on the rear side.
The intake and flow inlets connect the fan
coil to any type of air ducting.
The flow inlet includes the connection
flange.
CONDENSATE DRAIN
Every device is equipped with a
condensate drip tray for vertical and
horizontal installation. The fan coil tray
has 2 condensate drains on the right
and left side. We recommend using the
condensate drain fitting on the side of
the hydraulic connections.
HYDRAULIC CONNECTIONS
The connections on the left side are for
female fittings. The coil can be rotated to
take the connections to the right side. The
coil can be rotated on site.
CONTROL PANEL
There are various control panels available
in order to select the most suitable one
for the system.
By combining the control panels, the
thermostats and the other accessories of
the VMF series, you can make full use of
the VES units' potential.
The thermostats of the VMF series ensure:
- Control of a single unit and accessories.
- Control of a network of 6 units, of which a
master one with a thermostat and control
panel plus 5 slave units equipped with a
thermostat, which operate according to the
environmental conditions.
- Control of the VES unit in a complex
network of up to 64 areas with 6 fan coils
(up to 384 fan coils with one VMF-E5
control board).

SELECTION CRITERIA
The VES wall-ceiling mounted fan coils are
suitable for both vertical and horizontal
ducted installations.
VES is designed to operate at the 3
default speeds described in the manual.
In case of ducted installations, where
the duct pressure drops are significant,
the VES version allows obtaining the
necessary static pressure to ensure
proper air flow rate by modifying the
settings of the connections on the
electrical box on the motor. VES enables
you to select 3 speeds among the 6/7
speeds available on the motor.
All versions must be combined with a
control panel (accessory), refer to the
features and the compatibility of the
control panels supplied as accessory.
Several accessories are available for VES
series fan coils, sometimes they cannot
be overlapped. The compatibility of the
accessories with the selected fan coil
must be checked. The manual gives the
description, a diagram and compatibility
of each accessory.
The information regarding installation is
inserted in the manuals accompanying
each fan coil and each accessory. This
manual gives general information for
good installation. It also gives diagrams
with dimensions of the fan coils and
wiring diagrams with connection to
control panels.
The main technical data for the VES fan
coils is summarised in the tables.
The sensitive and total cooling yields at
maximum speed depending on the
temperature of the water entering, of
its heat drop and temperature of the air
with dry bulb and wet bulb respectively
for sensitive capacity and total cooling
capacity are stated in the table and are
referred to the maximum speed. The
performance at medium and minimum
speed are obtained by multiplying the
values in the table by the corrective
factors indicated.
The pressure drops on the water side,
respectively for 3/4-row coils (heating
and cooling) and 1-row coils (heating
only) are shown in the charts.
The correction factors in functioning with
glycol water in cooling and heating
modes are stated in the graphics per
percentages of glycol of 10%, 20% and
35%.
The heating capacity produced by
the 3/4-row coils and 1-row coils,
depending on the water flow rate and
the temperature difference between
the incoming water and incoming air,
is specified graphically and refers to
the maximum speed. The performance
at medium and minimum speeds are
obtained by multiplying the values from
the charts at maximum speed by the
corrective factors indicated.
The sound pressure and power level of
the fan coils at the various speeds is
stated in separate tables.
For the ducted installations the sound
power level is expressed in terms of
air flow rate and static pressure and is
represented by graphics in our selection
programs.
The static pressure of the wall/ceiling
mounted versions based on the air flow
rate and fan speed, are shown in table
form, the curves are indicated for each
of the speeds of reference.
For the sizing of the ducted suspended
version it is recommended to proceed
as follows: choose a size which, in
rated flow conditions, has a capacity
immediately higher than that required;
draw the pressure drops curve of the
duct on the flow rate-static pressure
diagram related to the current unit, thus
locating the operation points of the unit
at different speeds. Based on the flow
rate values corresponding to the above-
mentioned points, obtain the correction
factors that allow you to calculate the
capacity in the actual air flow rate
conditions.
The above procedure allows choosing
whethe r to m odify th e motor
connections settings.
The units are designed for installation in closed environments
in 'urban’, non-marine atmosphere conditions that are not
corrosive or dusty.
The following concentrations of the air polluting factors where
the unit must operate must not be exceeded under any
circumstances:
SO2< 0.02 ppm
H2S < 0.02 ppm
NO,NO2< 1 ppm
NH3< 6 ppm
N2O < 0.25 ppm
The unit must not be installed in areas characterised by the
presence of flammable gases or acidic or alkaline substances.
Otherwise the coils and the internal components of the
equipment might undergo serious and permanent damage in
terms of corrosion.
Warnings for the quality of water circulating in the coils. We
recommend performing an analysis of the water circulating
in the coil focused on searching for any bacteria (detection of
iron bacteria and micro-organisms that can produce H2S or
chemically reduce sulphates) and the chemical composition of
the water itself to prevent corrosion and encrustations inside
the pipes.
The water circuit must have all the components, such as for
instance relief and drainage systems, shut-off valves and that
the results of the analysis performed suggest are necessary to
ensure suitable water treatment. The water treatment system
must ensure compliance with the following chemical and
physical parameters:

Minimum average water temperature
If the fan coil runs continuously in cooling
mode in an environment with high
relative humidity, condensate may form
on the air flow outside the appliance.
This condensate could drip onto the
floor and onto any underlying objects.
To prevent condensation phenomena on
the external structure of the appliance
with the fan running, the average water
temperature must not drop below
the limits indicated in the table. These
limits depend on the temperature and
humidity conditions of the room air.
These limits refer to operation with the fan
running
at minimum speed.
Condensation may form in the event the
fan is off for a prolonged period and cold
water flows in the coil; therefore, we
recommend installing the 3-way valve
(accessory).
OPERATING LIMITS
Water temperature
In order to prevent air stratification in
the environment and thus have a better
mixture, the fan coil should not be
supplied with water that is hotter than
65°C.
Using water at a very high temperature
can cause creaking due to the heat
expansion of the elements (plastic and
metal), however, this does not cause
damage to the unit unless the maximum
operating temperature is exceeded.

The earth leakage current of several
devices placed under the same circuit
breaker is summed, therefore we
recommend paying attention to the
calibration value of the circuit breaker and,
if necessary, consider splitting the
installation in more circuits, each of which
protected by its own circuit breaker.

To calculate the cooling capacity yielded, the values shown in the
table must be multiplied by the corrective factors referred to

cooling occurs without dehumidification.
In this case take into account the sensitive yield values only.
The table shows the sensitive and total cooling capacities at
maximum speed depending on the temperature of the water
entering, of its heat drop and temperature of the air with dry
bulb and wet bulb respectively for sensitive yield and total yield
for standard coil versions. The performances at medium and
minimum speed are obtained by multiplying the values in the
table by the corrective factors indicated for each speed.
NB: The yield values marked in bold indicate the nominal
value.
