OVERVIEWOFINDOORAIRQUALITY
TheGermZone®100isdesignedtoremovecontaminantsfromtheairusingacombinationof
filtrationandanultravioletdisinfectionsystemtodeactivatemicrobesfromtheair.
Inordertogetthebestperformancefromyoursystem,certainfactorsshouldbeconsidered:
• Thelargertheroom,themoretimeitwilltakefortheunittocompleteafulldeliverycycle
oftreatedair.
• Thesourcesofaircontaminationshouldbeconsideredandreducedasmuchaspossible.
• Ventilationisimportanttoairquality,andasourceoffreshairfortheroomshouldbe
available.
• Astheunit’sfilterbecomessaturated,soiledorobstructed,thetreatmentefficiencywill
decrease.Inunusuallydirtyordustyenvironments,filterchangeswillneedtobemore
frequent.
UNPACKINGYOURUNIT
Beforeshipping,theGermZone®100andpackaginghasbeeninspectedandapproved.Followthe
stepbystepinstructionstosafelyremovetheunit.
• Openthetopofthebox.
• Carefullylifttheunitoutofthebox.
• Removethepackagingfoamfromtheendsoftheunit.
• Removethewallmountplatefromthebackoftheunit.
• Yourunitisreadyforinstallation.

INSTALLATION
ThechoiceoflocationforyourGermZone®100unitisakeyfactortoitsperformance.Youshould
placetheunitintheroominwhichyouwanttofocusyourairtreatmentstrategy.Additionally,
theunitshouldbeplacedascloseaspossibletoanyobvioussourcesofroomaircontamination.
Installationtips
• Installtheunitonthewallsothatfurnitureorotheritemsdonotobstructit.
• Installtheunitsufficientlyhightoavoidinadvertentcontactwhileleavingclearancetothe
ceiling.Consultyourlocalbuildingandfirecodesforguidancespecifictoyourarea.
• Installationofa120‐voltACgroundedwallreceptaclemayberequired.Ifso,havea
licensedelectricalprofessionalperformtheinstallation.
CAUTION:Neverattempttoplugtheunitintoanungroundedreceptacle.Thiscould
resultinelectricshock,injuryordeath.
• Installtheunitawayfromareaswhereitislikelytogetwet,orwhereobjectscanbe
inadvertentlyplacedontopoforagainstit.
InstallationInstructions
1. Removetheunitfromthepackaging.
2. Removethewallmountplatefromthebackoftheunit.Youmayneedtoslidetheplate
downandpullawayfromthebackoftheunit.
3. Ifinstallationofa120‐voltACgroundedwallreceptacleisrequired,ensurethereceptacle
isinstalledsufficientlyclosetothewallmountinglocationsothecordcaneasilybe
pluggedinwithouttensiononthecord.
4. Placethewallmountplateonthewallatthedesiredlocation,ensuringthemountingholes
donotalignwithinteriorwallstudsandthattheplateislevel.Thewallanchorsopen
wheninstalledandrequire2inchesofclearancefromanyobstructionsinsidethewall.
5. Markthelocationsoftheholesinthewallmountplateonthewall.
6. PlacethewallmountplateasideandusingaPhillipsheadscrewdriver;drivethewall
mountanchorsthroughthedrywallatthemarkedlocations.
7. Installthewallmountplateusingthescrewsprovidedwiththewallmountanchors.
8. Alignthemountingholesonthebackoftheunitwiththestudsonthewallmountplate.
9. Slidetheunitoverthestudsandgentlybutfirmlypulltheunitdownuntilthetopofthe
unitisalignedwiththetopofthewallmountplateandthelockingtabonthetopofthe
plateslidesoverthetopoftheunit.
10. Pluginthepowercordensuringtherearenoobstructionsanditisnotinthepathofany
movingobjects.

OPERATION
ThePOWERswitchislocatedontherightsidewhenfacingthefrontoftheunit.TheGermZone®
100hasbeenengineeredtooperateatonepredeterminedspeedformaximumefficiencyin
producingcleanair.Besidethepowerswitchisanindicatorlightthatindicateswhenthe
ultravioletlampsareworkingproperly.Iftheindicatorlightfailstoilluminate,butthefanofthe
unitisrunning,thisindicatesthattheUVlampsneedtobereplaced.Contactcustomerservicefor
authorizedreplacementlamps.

MaintenanceSchedule
ThemaintenanceschedulebelowisbasedoncontinualdailyoperationoftheGermZone®100.
Filters: Replacethefilter(P/N:GZ‐200‐200)approximatelyevery6months.Ifthe
GermZone®100isoperatinginanexcessivelycontaminatedenvironment,
changingthefiltermorefrequentlyisadvised.
UVLamps: ReplacetheUVlamps(P/N:L1‐0040‐1)every8000hoursofoperationor
approximatelyevery2years.Soonerifindicatorlampfailstoilluminate.
CAUTION:UseonlygenuineGermZone®100replacementfiltersandlampstoensure
properfilterfitmentandfunctionofyourGermZone®100.Failuretouse
specifiedproductsvoidswarranty.

1. Powertheunitoffandunplugfromthewalloutlet.
2. Removethefancoveronthesamesideasthepowerswitchbygentlypryingthetopofthe
coverawayfromthecaseoftheunit.Aflatbladedinstrumentsuchaflat‐head
screwdrivermaybeusedtoaccomplishthis.
3. Removethefilter.
4. Insertthenewfilter.
5. Alignthefancoverwiththelouverspointingupasshownintheimageabove.
6. Applygentlepressuretosnapthefancoverbackontothecaseoftheunit.
7. SeeDiscardingUsedFiltersinAdditionalInformationSectionforinformationonthe
disposaloftheoldfilter.

completelyre‐assembledwiththefilterinplacebefore
pluggingbackinandpoweringtheuniton.
1. PowertheGermZone®100offandunplugthepowercordfromthewalloutlet.Remove
theGermZone®100fromthewallmountplatebydepressingthelockingtabatthetop
centerofthewallmountplateandliftingtheunitupwardsandthenawayfromthewall.
2. Removetheeight(8)coverscrewsusingan8/32”Allenwrench.
3. Turntheunitoversothelampconnectorsarefacingup.

4. Gentlyremovethefour‐prongedplugsfrombothlampsbyslidingstraightoff.

Removethetwo(2)nutssecuringthelampcovertothechassis.

7. Gentlyremovethelampsfromtheretainingclipsinsidethecover.

UVLamps,likeallfluorescentlamps,containmercuryandmustbehandled
carefully.
9. Reversetheaboveproceduretoinstallthenewlampsandreassemble.Duringreassembly,
ensurenowiresarecapturedbetweenthelampcoverandthechassis.
10. RemounttheGermZone®100onthewallmountplate.

GermZone®warrantsthisGermZone®100producttobefreefromdefectsinmaterial,
manufactureanddesignforaperiodofthreeyears.Ifthisproductisdefectiveinmaterials,
manufactureordesignduringthiswarrantyperiod,GermZone®will,atitsoption,repairorreplace
theproduct.Repairpartsand/orreplacementproductsmaybeeitherneworreconditionedat
thediscretionofGermZone®.Thislimitedwarrantydoesnotincludeservicetorepairdamage
fromimproperinstallation,improperconnectionswithexternalelectricalfault,accident,disaster,
misuse,abuseormodificationstotheproductnotapprovedinwritingbyGermZone®.Anyservice
repairoutsidethescopeofthislimitedwarrantyshallbeatapplicableratesandtermsthenin
effect.
Allotherexpressandimpliedwarrantiesforthisproductincludingthewarrantiesof
merchantabilityandfitnessforaparticularpurposeareherebydisclaimed.Somestatesdonot
allowtheexclusionofimpliedwarrantiesorlimitationsonhowlonganimpliedwarrantylasts,so
theabovelimitationmaynotapplytoyou.
