1. PRODUCTOVERVIEW
TouchsafeProDoorMonitorsarebatterypoweredandcommunicateviatwo‐wayradiotransmissionsto
ensureallalarmsaretransmittedandreceivedcorrectly.Whenactive,theDoorMonitorwillraiseanalarm
ontheNursecallsystemwhenthemonitoreddoorisopened–thealarmlevelcanbesetasCall,Assistance
orEmergency.Thealarmcanonlybecancelledbyvisitingthedoorandresettingtheunitwithakey.
TheDoorMonitorcanbeoverriddenwithakeyduringperiodswhenthedoorneedstobeopened;a
remindercanbesettoreportthedoorisnotbeingmonitoredafterapresetperiod.TheDoorMonitoralso
includesanEmergencycallbuttontomanuallyraiseanEmergencyalarmontheNursecallsystematany
time–thismustalsoberesetwithakey.
TheDoorMonitorhastwointernalreedswitchessothemagneticdoorcontactcanbefittedondoors
whichopenfromtheleftorrighthandside.Itisalsosuppliedwithanexternalreedswitchforinstallations
whereitisnotpossibletomounttheDoorMonitoronthedoorframedirectlyalongsidethedoormagnet.
IftheDoorMonitorisfittedonanEmergencyExititshouldbesettooperatein“MonitoredMode”
wherebyalldooropeneventsarerecordedintheNursecallsystemlogevenwhenthekeyswitchisinthe
overrideposition.
IftheDoorMonitorisfittedonathoroughfarethen“Un‐monitoredMode”shouldbesettopreserve
batterylifeandreducelogentries.Inthismodedooropeneventsareonlytransmittedwhenthekeyswitch
isintheactiveposition.
TouchsafeProDoorMonitorsareembeddedwithanantimicrobialagentduringmanufacture.
Thispreventsthegrowthofharmfulmicro‐organismstherebypreventingthespreadofgermsanddisease.
V3.00afirmwareonwardsallowsthenumberofradiohopstobeincreasedfrom8(default)to
12maxonlargeinstallations.Seepages8&9fordetails.

batteries,afullsystemtest,softwareupdates(whereapplicable)andaServiceCertificate.

MONTHLYMAINTENANCE
DoorMonitorsshouldberegularlycleanedwithanti‐bacterialwipes,atthesametimetheyshouldbe
checkedforsignsofexternalphysicaldamage.Brokenorcrackedplasticcasescantrapdirtandcontribute
tothespreadofgerms.Anypartsfounddamagedshouldbereplacedimmediately.Productsneedingrepair

DoorMonitoriscommunicatingwiththerestofthesystem.

11.REPLACINGTHEBATTERY
WhentheDoorMonitorbatteryisrunninglow;a“DeviceStatus”alarmwillbedisplayedontheNursecall
paneltoindicatewheretheDoorMonitorislocated.
Alwaysreplacethebatterywithin72hoursofalowbatterywarning.
IfthewarningchangestoCRITICALreplacethebatteryIMMEDIATELY.
ToreplacethebatteryopentheDoorMonitorbygentlysqueezingthesidesofthelidtoreleasetheplastic
clips.RemovethesinglebatteryfromtheretainingclipsonthePCBinsidethelid.
Usedbatteriesmustnotbedisposedofindomesticwaste.Donotincinerateormutilateused
batteries,thechemicalsreleasedarecorrosiveandmycauseinjurytoeyesorskinandmaybe
toxicifinhaled.
