AL Tech MediaGate MG-35 User manual

Introduction
NDAS (Network Direct Attached Storage) software makes MediaGate MG-35 as network external
storage system. PCs on Network recognize Hard Disk in MG35 as separated Hard Disk Drive. File
copying, deleting is possible via LAN. If you use NDAS function, you can use MG-35 as file server or
media server in your house and office.
If you use NDAS function, you can freely copying, transferring, deleting files without any sharing setting (IP setting,
Subnet mask setting, Sharing folder setting. etc)
If you want to play files in your PC using MG-35, please see ‘Access PC via Network’ in MG-35’s manual.

Precautions
√Please do not connect LAN Cable and USB Cable at the same time.
√PC has to have 10/100Mbps LAN Card to use network function.
√ If you change NDAS option “ON,” every time you change Network setting you have to turn off MG-
35 and turn on again. If you will not use NDAS function, please set NDAS option “Off”
√Maximum speed of NDAS function is 10Mbps. If you play media file at MG-35 and use NDAS option
at the same time, the speed can be slower. Network speed can be down depends on Environmental
factors or computer specification.
√If you see the caution referring ‘The Software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo
testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.’, please click ‘Continue Anyway’
√Please open ‘My Computer’ and check if Hard Disk in MG-35 is conceived as Hard Disk Drive of
local network. (HDD in MG-35 looks like external Hard Disk Drive. C:, D:, E: or F: ) If you cannot see
Hard Disk Drive, please turn off MG-35 and turn on again. (Recognition can take some time.)
√ To remove NDAS function safely, please double click the icon in right bottom tray. (just like removing
external Hard Disk Drive.)

1. Connect LAN Cable
√ Please do not connect LAN Cable and USB Cable at the same time.
√PC has to have 10/100Mbps LAN Card to use network function.
Connect LAN cable to LAN port between IP Router or
Hub.
In this case, you have to use Direct LAN Cable type
generally.
Connect LAN cable to LAN port between MG-35 and
PC. In this case, you have to use Cross LAN cable type
generally.
[TIP] If the computer’s LAN card was connected to
Internet line, you can mount additional LAN card to your
PC and connect that additional LAN card to MG-35.
When connecting with IP Router or HubWhen connecting Computer to MG-35 directly

2. MG-35 setting
Please press [Setup] and going to Network setup ( Setup > Network). Please set ‘NDAS’ function ‘On’.
After set all of these, please turn off MG-35 and turn on again.
Example>>
DHCP: Off On
IP Address: 192.168.001.002 Off
Sub Mask : 255.255.255.000
NDAS: On
Mac Address: 00:02:a8:0a:d0:21 After changing NDAS setting
(‘On’), Please turn off MG-35
and turn on again,.
- NDAS function is available in 1.4.3 firmware or more.
- If you cannot find NDAS function in Network setting, please download 1.4.3 firmware or more in AL
Tech’s webpage (www.mediagate.co.kr) and upgrade file.
√If you set NDAS option as “ON”, you have to turn off MG-35 every time you change Network setting.
√If you don’t use NDAS option, please set NDAS option as “OFF”.
√Max velocity of NDAS function is 10Mbps, but NDAS usage while playing file with MG-35 can let down
NDAS speed.
√Network environment and PC specification can affect NDAS function.

3. Install NDAS Software
(1) InstallShield Wizard
Please insert CD and find folder ‘MediaGate MG-35 > English > NDAS Software’
Please double click ‘ndas-3.10.1230-setup-enu-full’.

: For installing NDAS Software, please click ‘Install’. Initialization proceed like right side picture..

•Instalization process •
: If InstallShileld Wizard Completed, please click ‘finish’ and reboot PC.

(2) Connect MG-35 as NDAS device
After Reboot PC, Please check if icons exist in right bottom tray and desktop. After checking, please
press right mouse button on NDAS Device Management icon.

• Register Product 1 •
: To register product, please click “Register a New Device.”

• Register Product 2 •
: Please insert each numbers in bottom of Product.
After inputting all
information, please click
‘Register’.
1. NDAS Device Name :
- NDAS device name that user give
- Freely change name. Default name is ‘NDAS Device 1’
2. NDAS Device ID :
- To recognize NDAS device in PC, you have to input NDAS
Device ID that connect product with its own Mac Address.
- Numbers are in product’s bottom label.
3. Write Key
- Enable write function via LAN.
- Numbers are product’s bottom label.

• Mount Setting •
: Press right mouse button on the icon in right bottom tray ÆSelect NDAS Device Name (NDAS Device 1) Æ

- If you want to read and write file : select ‘Read/Write’
- If you only want to read files: select ‘Read-only’

Safely Remove NDAS Device
To remove NDAS function safely, please double click the icon in right bottom tray. (just like
removing external Hard Disk Drive.)
