Conditions for accessories
Radio connection: The radio connection ofthe AE 500 fits to most of PMR with 2.5 mm/3.5 mm plug
combination.T
many other radios. It is not recommendable to use the VOX-function because of the high level of sound
he universal plug 2.5 mm for microphone and and 3.5 mm for the ear set is being supported by
(basicallyyoucanonlyuse the VOX-function as long as no additional mobile phone is connected, since
using thetalkbutton is theonlycriteria to differentiate between radio and mobile phone).
MP3/DVD/CD-connection: 3.5 mmstereo plug. The radio is beingswitchedoff the moment the cable is being
inserted.
GSMmobile phone): universal hands-free connectionvia2.5mmstereo plug (likei.e.at Motorola phones).
For most telephone brandsyou canfind suitable adapters in anyGSM phoneaccessoryshop, becausethe
2.5mmstereo plug is the quasi-standard for various hands-free kits.
The telephone has to be able to beprogrammed to „automatic call reception” andadjusted likewise.
Hints for installation and connection
Fitting of helmet set:
The twohelmet sets consist oftwoultraflat padded ear sets to be inserted in thehelmet, amicrophone to be
installedinside thehelmet close to your mouth and awaterprooftransmit talkbutton whichcanbefixed within
reach ofthe handle-bar or at your glove.
Supplied are two self-adhesive pads for fitting the set in thehelmet and avelcro tapeadjustable in lengthto
install the talkbutton. Theseadhesive pads do have an adhesive surface on oneside (remove protective foil),
on the other sidethereis avelcroclaspso thatear set andmicrophonecanbeeasilyinstalledor removed.
Bikers withonlylimited space to install thetalkbutton i. e. on ametal plate atthehandle bars mayremove the
velcro tape and stickthe talkbutton with adhesive pads directlytothedesired location.
Please fix theearsets with still asmall gapbetween theears andthehelmet. Your ears should notbe
completelycoveredbythe ear set because thenyou might notbe able to listento thesurroundingnoiseof
traffic (due to RoadTraffic Act youmaynotuse headsets that completelycover your ears because youmight
overhear honking or other signals).
Please donot carryout any changesat thehelmet before installing the headset. ECE normfor motorbike
helmets does not permit to flattenthematerialinsidethehelmet i. e. tomakespace for theear set. Fix the
microphone inside thehelmet close to your mouth withthe supplied velcro tape. Before fixing the adhesive pads
thoroughlyclean thedesiredlocation (i.e. with alcohol, but do notuse anysolvent). Press tightlyand remember
that it takes several hours until the final strength has been achieved.
You onlyneed the talkbuttons in case youwant tooperate an additionalPMR(radio). You donot need the talk
buttons for the basic intercomfunction between driverand passenger or radio/MP3.
Storing of the central unit
The best place for storingis inside or close to the tank knap sack. The velcro tapeat thecentralunit makes this
veryeasy. The cables leadingto the driver simultaneouslyserve as the radio antenna. Storing the centralunit
in thedriver`s pocket can onlybeasubstitutebecause cables close to the bodyonlyhave alimited antenna
function.
Installing the radio and/or mobile phone
Radio andmobilephonedoonlyachievetheir maximumradiationifinstalleddetachedfromsurroundings. If
being used atthe sametimeboth should be as farapart as possiblefrom eachother and from the central
unit. Temporarystoragein your pockets does reduce range. Never place radio, mobile phone and /or central
unit in the samepocket, undesired interferences, especiallyfromGSM whiletransmission mayoccur.
If you do not use a radio or mobile phoneplease cover the unusedplug with tape. Do not cut off unused cables!
