provisions as stipulated by the European Guideline 1999/5/EC. The

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Congratulations with your purchase!
Alecto makes an effort to make your living environment more comfortable
and easier. This personal Alecto humidifier improves the air quality in
your immediate surroundings by adding moisture to the air, ensuring a
pleasant humidity grade.
A suitable humidity grade protects you against dry airways and prevents
respiration problems and dry, irritated skin. An adequately humidified
environment prevents wooden furniture from shrinking, which would
otherwise lead to tearing, and ensures that paper from books or
wallpaper doesn’t dry out, becomes brittle or warped. A suitable humidity
also makes sure that dust settles and doesn’t adhere to surfaces as
much, making cleaning chores much easier.
The humidity grade is usually expressed in percentage. This number is
the amount of water vapour in the air compared to the amount of water
vapour the air can contain at room temperature.
The ideal humidity is around 40% to 50%. A humidity grade below 30%
is dry and is usually considered to be uncomfortable. To measure the
humidity in your environment, you can use a hygrometer.
Alecto’s humidifier uses an ultrasonic, high-frequency generator to split
water into small particles. A fan blows these water particles into the air as
a sort of mist and these tiny particles are easily absorbed by the air.
The ultrasonic technique ensures a silent operation without any
change in room temperature, without any windows steaming up and no
condensation in the immediate vicinity.

4
FIRST TIME USE:
1. Make sure that the humidier is switched off (turn the control button
fully anti-clockwise) and the plug is disconnected from the wall socket.
2. Place the humidier on a at surface, approximately 60 cm above the
oor and 10 cm from any walls.
3. Instructions for lling the water reservoir.
- Detach the water reservoir by lifting it straight up.
- Loosen the cap at the bottom of the reservoir by turning it anti-
clockwise and ll the reservoir with demineralised or distilled
water. When using it for the rst time, it’s recommended to rst
rinse out the reservoir.
- Do NOT ll the reservoir with warm water; this can cause
leakage.
- Do NOT ll the reservoir with regular tap water. Tap water
contains calcium which is absorbed by the water vapour and
can descend on your furniture or oor. This causes a white layer
that’s difcult to clean.
- After lling, securely replace the cap onto the reservoir by turning
it clockwise and place the water reservoir back onto the base. The
reservoir will immediately start emptying into the base.
4. Plug the mains lead into a wall socket.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:
Humidiers ensure a humidity grade necessary for protecting our health.
Please strictly follow all of the maintenance instructions to fully enjoy your
humidier and to prevent any trouble with your product. Neglecting the
recommended care and maintenance can lead to the build-up of micro
organisms in the water of the humidier. It can also make you sensitive
to organic particles from the humidier when not cleaning the product on
a regular basis. If you experience any respiration problems, immediately
stop using the humidier and contact your doctor.

5
DAILY MAINTENANCE:
1. Switch off the humidier and remove the plug from the wall socket
before any maintenance.
2. Lift the humidier’s reservoir up from the base.
3. Empty the water reservoir into the sink, thoroughly rinse it out and
remove any sediment or dirt. Wipe the water reservoir clean and dry it
with a clean, soft cloth or kitchen towels.
4. Fill the water reservoir with fresh demineralised or distilled water,
replace the cap onto the reservoir and replace the reservoir onto the
base.
WEEKLY MAINTENANCE:
1. Repeat steps 1-3 for daily maintenance.
2. Pour out any water left behind in the base, making sure the power is
disconnected before moving it.
3. Pour a cup of white vinegar (approx. 200 ml) in the lower part of
the base, this is where the transducer is located, and let it work for
15 minutes. Now use the soft brush from the base to loosen the
deposits in the base and especially in the transducer.
4. Remove the deposits and the white vinegar solution with a clean, soft
cloth.
5. Rinse out the base with water to ensure that no vinegar is left behind
in the base. Don’t immerse the base in water, but only rinse out the
lower part of the base.
6. Fill the water reservoir with fresh demineralised or distilled water,
replace the cap onto the reservoir and place the reservoir back onto
the base.

6
PRECAUTIONS DURING MAINTENANCE:
• Make sure never to immerse the base in water.
• Don’t use any solutions or aggressive cleaning agents to clean the
product.
• Clean the interior with a soft cloth.
• Only use the brush for cleaning the transducer. This must be
performed once a week.
• Only use a brush with soft hairs.

When handling electric devices you must always take certain
precautions to prevent the risk of fire, electric shock and injuries.
Amongst others, please keep in mind the following:
1. Before use, check whether the voltage of the mains power is in
accordance with the rated voltage of the product.
2. Never use the humidifier unattended in an enclosed space, especially
where children are sleeping, resting or playing.
3. Don’t add water to the fluid drain directly, to prevent damaging the
product.
4. Never let children play with the packaging of the product, e.g. plastic
bags.
5. Don’t arrange the cable underneath carpet or near air grates,
radiators, stoves or heating equipment.
6. Don’t place the humidifier near stoves, radiators or other heating
devices. For an optimal result, the humidifier must be at least 10 cm
removed from any walls.
7. Never use a device with a damaged cable or plug, after any error
has occurred or after the device has in any way fallen down or taken
damage. Send the product to the factory for inspection, modification
or repair.
8. Always place the humidifier on a sturdy, even and horizontal surface.
9. Never aim the fluid drain directly towards a wall.
10. Never tilt, move or empty the product while switched on.
11. Switch off the device and disconnect the plug from the wall socket
before detaching the water reservoir or moving the device.
12. Don’t attempt to repair or modify any electrical or mechanical
functions of this product, this will declare the warranty as void.
13. This product does not contain any internal parts repairable by the
user. Repairs may only be performed by professional personnel. The
warranty of this product becomes void when disassembling the base.
14. Never use detergent, petrol, glass cleaner, furniture polish, thinner
or other domestic cleaning products for cleaning any part of the
humidifier.
15. Excessive humidity in a room can cause condensation on windows
and certain furniture pieces. If that’s the case, please switch off the
humidifier.
16. Never clean the casing under running water and never immerse it into
any liquid.

9
SAFETY FOR CONSUMERS:
• Switch off the humidier when moisture is forming on the walls
or windows of the room, because this means the room is already
adequately humidied and additional humidity can cause damage.
Long-term excessive humidity can have negative effects, such as
the growth of mites and mould, and makes the environment more
attractive for various insects. Furthermore, laundry won’t dry as well
indoors.
• Inadequate indoor ventilation is also indicated by windows steaming
up. An ideal humidity grade is between 40% and 50%.
• Never obstruct the air input or output.
• The length of the cable used for this product was determined to
reduce the risk of entanglement or tripping over a longer cable.
• If a longer cable is required, you may use an extension cord. The
electric power of this extension cord must be equal to or higher than
the power of the humidier.
• Be careful when arranging the extension cord; make sure it doesn’t
hang from or over a kitchen counter or table where children can pull it
or trip over it.
