Alternating pressure relieving mattress system UK Version
www.alertamedical.com
PAGE 02
Alerta Medical is a world leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, cutting-edge
alternating pressure relieving mattress systems for the healthcare market, delivering
solutions for care providers to proactively maximise patient safety and comfort.
Operating Principles
• Alternating pressure at a sufficient rhythm
avoids prolonged vascular compression
which is likely to cause tissue hypoxia.
• Alternating pressure adapts the mattress
to the patient’s and their position.
• The patient is an intended operator.
The patient can use the device and its
accessories according to this manual.
Guidelines For Use
• The traditionally accepted method of
pressure sore control is to turn the client
at regular intervals and to observe the
areas of risk regularly.
• Alternating pressure mattress is
intended to compliment this treatment,
Observation of the client and turning when
necessary should still be considered as
part of the treatment.
• Always consult a physician or health
professional before using this device.
Control Panel Features
• Digital display showing setup patient
weight
(max patient weight setting 350kgs)
• Auto pressure control through air sensor and
microcomputer control
• 10mins, 15mins, 20mins, 25mins
cycle time options
• Static mode, lock mode
• Sound alarm; seating mode
• Low pressure, power failure and
alternate failure warning lights.
Installation/Use
1. Unroll the mattress and place on bed
with the feet logo at the foot end.
2. Secure it to the bed with the fixing straps
ensuring you do not restrict moving bed parts.
3. Hang the compressor (pump) on
the bed using the hooks.
4. Connect the mattress feed pipes to the
compressor (pump) connector by matching the
appropriate outlets.
5. Ensure the mattress CPR at head end of
mattress is firmly inserted and the CPR pull
straps are in place.
6. Connect the electrical power supply cable to
the compressor (pump).
7. Guide it along the bed to the mattress plug
socket and plug in.
8. Press switch to turn on the compressor (pump)
and press Power button on control panel.
9. The pump will enter static mode initially until
pressure reaches 15mmHg (about 30 minutes),
then it will change to alternate mode and
keep inflating the mattress to the configured
pressure. Once configured pressure is reached,
the pump will start functioning normally.
10. Select the pressure corresponding to the
patient’s morphology.
11. For nursing and caring convenience, press the
max firm button to automatically inflate the
mattresses to the maximum level. The pressure
will return to alternate mode after 20 minutes.
12. Max firm inflates whole mattress to max level.
Static is different, static ceases alternate
function but allows pressure to still be selected.
Lock button
1. Auto: Control panel will automatically
lock in 5 minutes without operation.
2. Manual: press lock button for 2 seconds to lock
the panel, press again for 2 seconds to unlock
the panel.
Seat Inflate
By pressing Seat Inflate button, the pressure is
5mmHg higher than current configured value, the
pressure indicator light won’t be changed. Under
Seat Inflate Mode, the Max Firm button is invalid. By
repressing the Seat Inflate button again, the pump
will revert to the previous configured mode.
SensaCare Truflo Technology™ – constant auto pressure sensing through an air sensor and
microcomputer regulator to provide ultra-low interface pressure and promote an even ambience
for natural sleep patterns and stable blood circulation with Ultra-Silent™ pump operation.

Remote Control
The remote controller function is the same as pump
panel buttons.
Memory Function
After Power Failure
If the power supply is stopped and the switch is
ON position, when power resumes, the pump will
resume to the configured mode before power
failure. However if the pump is in Static or Max
Firm mode, the pump will be reverted to Alternate
Mode after re-switching on the pump.
Emergency CPR Deflation
In the event of an emergency, pull to remove the
mattress CPR straps for emergency deflation
and turn off the compressor (pump). The air will
discharge from the mattress with the patient’s own
weight. To resume normal operation follow steps 5
and 8 above.
