PAGE 02
Alerta Medical is a world leading designer and manufacturer of innovative, cutting-edge
alternating pressure relieving mattress systems for the healthcare market, delivering
solutions for care providers to proactively maximise patient safety and comfort.
Operating Principles
• The Alerta Sensaflo-Hybrid can be used just as
a high specification foam pressure redistribution
mattress, and also functions as a balanced-air
self-adjusting system with foam-filled air cells, and
the option to add a choice of pumps to provide
alternating pressure relief, and a built in Alerta
Evacuation System of handles and straps.
• Use as static or dynamic system, no requirement
to remove patient from bed to change from foam
system to alternating air system. Alerta Sensaflo-
Hybrid also boasts a unique adaptable heel zone
with gel-foam pads, individually removable to
reduce to zero pressure on the heel as required for
unrivalled pressure redistribution and
improved circulation.
• Alternating pressure at a sufficient rhythm avoids
prolonged vascular compression which is likely to
cause tissue hypoxia.
• The patient is an intended operator. The patient can
use the device and its accessories according to this
manual.
Guidelines For Use
• The traditionally accepted method of pressure sore
control is to turn the client at regular intervals and
to observe the areas of risk regularly.
• Alternating pressure mattress is intended to
compliment this treatment, Observation of the
client and turning when necessary should still be
considered as part of the treatment.
• Always consult a physician or health professional
before using this device.
Control Panel Features
• Pressure adjustable knob easy operation for setup
of patient weight (max patient weight setting
250kgs).
• Auto pressure control through air sensor and
microcomputer control.
• 10mins, 15mins, 20mins, 25mins cycle time options.
• Static, alternate, max firm and lock modes.
• Low pressure, power failure and alternate failure
warning lights and alarm.
Installation/Use
1. Unpack the mattress and place on bed
with the feet logo at the foot end.
2. Hang the compressor (pump) on the
bed using the hooks.
3. Connect 2-pipe connector to end of mattress
4. tubing (supplied in pump box)
5. Connect the mattress feed pipes to
the compressor (pump) connector by
matching the appropriate outlets.
6. Connect the electrical power supply cable to
the compressor (pump).
7. Guide the electrical power supply cable from
the compressor (pump) along the bed to the
plug socket and plug in.
8. Press switch to turn on the compressor (pump).
9. The pump will enter static mode initially until
pressure reaches 15mmHg (about 30 minutes),
then it will change to alternate mode and
keep inflating the mattress to the configured
pressure. Once configured pressure is reached,
the pump will start functioning normally.
10. Select the pressure corresponding to the
patient’s morphology.
11. For nursing and caring convenience, press the
max firm button to automatically inflate the
mattresses to the maximum level. The pressure
will return to alternate mode after 20 minutes.
12. Max firm inflates whole mattress to max level.
Static is different, static ceases alternate
function but allows pressure to still be selected.
Lock button
1. Auto: Control panel will automatically
lock in 5 minutes without operation.
2. Manual: press lock button for 2 seconds to lock
the panel, press again for 2 seconds to unlock the
panel.
SensaCare Truflo Technology™ – constant auto pressure sensing through an air sensor and
microcomputer regulator to provide ultra-low interface pressure and promote an even ambience
for natural sleep patterns and stable blood circulation with Ultra-Silent™ pump operation.

Memory Function
After Power Failure
If the power supply is stopped and the switch is
ON position, when power resumes, the pump will
resume to the configured mode before power
failure. However if the pump is in Static or Max
Firm mode, the pump will be reverted to Alternate
Mode after re-switching on the pump.
Emergency CPR Deflation
In the event of an emergency, remove the
mattress pipe connector block from the
pump and turn off the compressor (pump).
The air will discharge from the mattress with
the patient’s own weight. To resume normal
operation follow the above steps.
