About the 3008 Doorphone
The Algo Doorphone Model 3008 consists of a control unit (3007), door station (3004) and power
supply (3 4 ). All options and controls are factory set to allow for a quick installation of simple
wire connections.
Quick Install
STEP 1
Run a two-pair cable from the door station location to the control unit location (equipment room),
A recessed double-gang utility box is ideal for mounting the door station. The door station can be
located anywhere a speakerphone or talk-back paging would be considered. The door station
should be mounted at shoulder height.
STEP 2
Connect the door station as per the attached wiring diagram. Use this wiring configuration as a
standard so that all installations are similar. Mount the door station, dressing all wires neatly.
STEP 3
Wall mount the control unit near an AC outlet. Connect the door station wires per the attached
drawing.
STEP 4
Connect the control unit terminals (T & R) to a PBX or EKT non-proprietary station port. In the
case of a proprietary or digital port a terminal adaptor to analogue would be required. This is
sourced from the PBX or EKT manufacturer.
STEP 5
Connect the power adaptor into the rear of the control unit cabinet and plug into an AC outlet.
STEP 6
Test the unit by pushing the call button of the door station. The control unit will go off hook to the
PBX or EKT telephone system. The telephone system is programmed to route the call to an
attendant position or designated station. Answer the “call” and ensure that a voice path is
established with the door station.
SWITCH FUNCTION SWITCH 1
The switches referred to are located on the rear of the control unit (3007)
Factory setting is as follows:
SWITCH-1 X = ON O = OFF

SWITCH FUNCTION SWITCH 1 CONT'
POS 1 CALL DISABLE
Enables or disables call detection.
ON: Disabled - Ignores call button depression.
OFF: Enabled - Detects call button depression and seizes line.
POS 2 RING DETECTION
Enables or disables ring detection.
ON: Detects ringing and seizes line.
OFF: Ignores ringing.
POS 3 RECALL
ON: If already off hook and call button is depressed, unit resets for seconds and re-seizes
the line.
OFF: All subsequent call button depressions after the initial one are ignored.
POS 4 LOOP SUPERVISION
Monitors loop current for detection of PBX or EKT party disconnect.
ON: No loop current monitoring. Time out disconnect required.
OFF: Monitoring active.
POS 5,6,7 LOOP INTERRUPT TIMING
When POS 4 is ON then POS 5,6,7 set the timing for loop current interruption that is required for
disconnect and reset of the station doorphone to accept the next call.
ON: Contributes nothing to timing interval.
OFF: POS 5 Contributes 1/4 sec increment.
POS 6 Contributes 1/ sec increment.
POS 7 Contributes 1.0 sec increment.
Note that this is loop current monitoring for the station doorphone. If a 1.0 sec disconnect is
expected from the PBX prior to re-seizure then set the doorphone to reset a bit faster e.g. 3/4
sec.
EXAMPLES
O = OFF X = ON - = DON’T CARE

ON: Timer activated.
OFF: No automatic timed reset.
SWITCH FUNCTIONS SWITCH 2
POS 1 - 8
Contribute various intervals of time to the TIME-OUT period. When switch is ON no time is
contributed. When switch is OFF, the designated time is added to the TIME-OUT period. The
sample that follows allows for a 96 sec conversation. If the majority of conversations exceed this
time period then reset this switch to time most convenient. Else conversation is re-established
by pushing call button on remote station or dialling station.
EXAMPLE X = ON O = OFF
POSITIONS: 1 345678
Time contribution
(seconds): 1 4 8 16 3 64 1 8
Factory setting: XXXXXOOX
Time elapsed for reset is 3 + 64 = 96 sec
SPEAKER VOLUME
This is adjusted by a knob at the rear of the control unit. Turn knob clockwise to increase volume.
MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY
This control is not normally field adjusted. Screwdriver adjustment is possible however, to bias
the switching circuit to favour one direction. Factory setting is 1/4 turn clockwise from a fully
counter-clockwise (OFF) position. Field adjustment should consist of a minimal turn in
one direction or the other. Over adjustment will impair the switching function. Should this
occur return adjustment to original factory position.
RESET TERMINALS
Shorting these terminals will reset the control unit.
AUXILIARY JACK
This jack provides power and signal lines to operate the Algo Model 3106 Door Control
Module. Do NOT use this jack for anything else. The 3106 Door Control Module will provide
a dry contact closure to operate a customer-supplied door latch. The relay is sufficiently rated
for most low-voltage solenoids currently available. Consult the 3106 installation instructions
for details of operation and switch selections.
REPAIRS
It is not recommended that this product be repaired in the field. Should the product require repair,
return to ACP using standard repair return procedures. A return authorization number must be
obtained before returning any product to ACP.
Call Algo Communication Products Ltd. customer service (604) 438-3333 to obtain a return
authorization number and for additional product information.
