Step 1. Installation
1. Install and setup you HD video recorder in accordance with the manufacturer recommended procedure.
2. Install the HD video camera in accordance with manufacturer recommended procedure.
3. Route Cat 5e or Cat 6 UTP cable between the camera and the video recorder. Use high quality CAT5e UTP or CAT6 UTP cable. Do not
route the cable near devices that product electromagnetic radiation, such as microwave ovens, mobile phone equipment, radio
equipment or high voltage power cables.
4. Install RJ-45 connectors at both end of UTP cable in accordance with the diagram shown below.
RJ-45 Jack
Pin Color (Function)
1W-O: White-Orange X
2 O: Orange X
3W-G: White-Green Power -
4BL: Blue Power +
5W-BL: White-Blue Power -
6 G: Green Power +
7W-BR: White-Brown Video +
8BR: Brown Video -
5. Connect the balun for the camera end to the camera, and then to the UTP cable.
6. Connect the balun for the HD video recorder end to the UTP cable, and then to the HD video recorder and the power supply.
7. Apply power to the power supply.
ALI-AV3 HD Video/Power Balun
Quick Start Guide
The ALI-AV3 HD Video / Power Baluns adapt HD-CVI/TVI/AHD video signals on coax and 12/24 V power to an RJ-45 connectorized interface
for transmission across standard Cat 5e/6 UTP cable. These baluns are ideal for transmitting power to and video signals from an HD video
camera and an HD video recorder through Ethernet cable instead of more expensive RG-6 coax/power cable. Features include:
• Transmit HD-CVI/TVI/AHD video and power over one CAT5e/6 UTP cable
• Includes 2 units: 1 x RJ-45 to BNC with DC power plug, 1 x RJ-45 to BNC with DC power jack
• Carries 300 mA at 12 Vdc / 24 Vac up to 655 ft
• Built-in ESD, EFT (impulse noise) and transient protection
• Easy installation

NOTE Some voltage loss occurs when transmitting power through Cat 5e/6 cable. Adjust the supply power appropriately to ensure that the voltage
level and current at the camera is within its specied operating range. See Tables 1 - 3 on Pg 2.
