This manual provides you with information about the function and
use of the OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM. It applies to every
out of bounds snow sport enthusiast.
Please read this manual carefully before you use the device. Pay
special attention to the warning notices and strictly adhere to
the information within the owner’s manual. In order to be able to
easily consult this owner’s manual we suggest that you keep it in a
convenient location.
The OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM is emergency
equipment, which under certain conditions can prevent a total
burial if activated. It cannot prevent the release of an avalanche. An
element of deadly risk remains even if the user doesn’t get buried.
Every avalanche is absolutely life threatening regardless of any
equipment. Therefore, the ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM should not
encourage you to take greater risks.
In the event of an avalanche, the user must tug on the trigger
handle in order to activate the inflation: this inflates the 150-litre
avalanche airbag within 3 seconds.
The OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM concept is based on
the physical principle of inverse segregation. This is a phenomenon
whereby, given a uniformly moving mass of particles, the smaller
particles sink downwards and the larger ones float to the surface.
The inflated airbag increases the victim’s volume and greatly
amplifies this inverse segregation effect. The avalanche backpack
helps prevent total burial in the snow. The airbag’s shape protects
the back and the head of the user. Moreover, the rounded shape
gives optimal float efficiency on the avalanche and the bright airbag
color helps rapid localization.

SUPERCAPACITORS
The E1 Avalanche Airbag System is the first avalanche airbag that does not use lithium-ion or lithium polymer batteries to fuel the compressor’s
electric motor.
The E1 System uses its SuperCapacitors to store energy in the form of an electrostatic field. Unlike traditional batteries, there is no need to
create a chemical reaction to generate energy, allowing the E1 System to release its power faster.
The E1’s SuperCapacitors offer several advantages over batteries. They are not sensitive to changes in temperature, delivering the same
performance at -30 degrees C and +50 degrees C. This saves weight because, unlike batteries, there is no need to boost the SuperCapacitors
to guarantee outstanding performance at low temperatures.
While batteries tend to wear out after repeated charges, the SuperCapacitors stay strong. They are guaranteed for 500,000 charging cycles
with a nearly infinite lifespan, superior to the 3- to 5-year lifespan of the average battery. SuperCapacitors are considered passive electronic
elements, like cameras for example, so there are no restrictions on traveling, shipping or storage. This is a major advantage over traditional
batteries and compressed gas cartridge systems.
THE RADIAL COMPRESSOR
The E1 System uses a radial compressor, similar to turbo compressors found in cars. This design allows for high-speed air flow and inflation
pressure equal to compressed air cartridge avalanche airbag systems.
2xAA BATTERIES
The E1 SuperCap System uses two AA batteries for two primary purposes:
1 to recharge the SuperCapacitors.
2 to guarantee that the SuperCapacitors keep their full power, compensating for their slow loss of charge and ensuring several months of
autonomy (see section below on autonomy).
Note: Only alkaline or lithium (AA batteries) should be used (for quick recharging at very low temperatures). Use brand new, premium quality
Alkaline AA / LR6 batteries.
WARNING Do not use AA zinc carbon batteries and NiCd or NiMH accumulators (rechargeable). These are often not strong enough to
sufficiently charge the SuperCapacitors.
Depending on the AA battery technology, recharge and autonomy can vary:
Alkaline batteries:
+ are capable of 1 recharge OR 3 months autonomy of normal use (1.5 months if constantly on).
+ it is strongly recommended to change the batteries after 1 recharge of the system.
Lithium batteries:
+ are capable of 3 recharges OR 5 months autonomy of normal use (3 months if constantly on).
+ it is strongly recommended to change the batteries after 3 recharges of the system.
MICRO-USB PORT
+ The micro-USB port (5V – 2A) makes it possible to recharge the SuperCapacitors using the USB / micro-USB cable provided.
+ Charging can be completed with a standard USB charger (not included). Recharging the SuperCapacitors with the micro-USB cable takes
priority over recharging via the 2 x AA batteries.
+ The SuperCapacitors can be recharged with the micro-USB cable even in the absence of the AA batteries.
AUTONOMY OF THE E1 SYSTEM
The system’s autonomy depends on the quality and energy of the AA batteries and the frequency and duration of use in ON or OFF mode.
The instances listed below assume the use of high-quality alkaline batteries:
+ Approx. 2-3 months of autonomy with two new AA alkaline batteries not including recharge of the SuperCapacitors (new batteries
inserted after recharging the SuperCapacitors)
+ The system can be used without additional AA batteries. However, we strongly suggest to always use it with the batteries to ensure
extended autonomy.
If used without batteries and the LED status is flashing green, the autonomy is a minimum of 6 h.

To turn on the E1 System, use the ON / OFF switch. This safety switch
prevents undesired activation inside the bag. Pull the switch up, turn
it clockwise and hold for 2 seconds.
Each time it is turned on, the E1 System conducts an auto-test
to verify that the motor, SuperCapacitors and electronics are
functioning properly.
During this auto-test, the motor completes a first rotation at low
speed, switching on the green LED.
If the auto-test is successfully completed, the motor rotates a
second time and the green / orange LED will blink
> The system is ready for use.
If the auto-test detects a malfunction, the motor will rotate 4
x and the red LED will remain on. There is a problem in the
system and it is not operational.
If the system detects a malfunction and it is charging, the red
LED will remain on and the orange LED will blink rapidly.
To turn the system OFF, pull the switch and turn it clockwise (same
procedure as for turning ON). The motor will rotate 1 x and the red
LED will turn on and off again to indicate that the system has shut
down.
TERRAIN USE AND LED STATUSES
To use the E1 System on terrain, you will need to:
1 Turn ON the E1 System (see section 3)
2 Verify that the auto-test is okay (see section 3)
If the green LED blinks, the system is operational with at least
six hours of autonomy.
If the orange LED blinks, the system is operational with less
than six hours of autonomy.
If the red LED blinks, the system cannot guarantee 100%
inflation (but it will still attempt to inflate the airbag as much as
possible).
If the red LED remains on, the system is defective and should
not be used.
WARNING Turning ON the E1 System does NOT activate airbag
inflation. To activate the airbag inflation, the activation
trigger must be pulled hard (between 5 to 10 kg).
RECHARGING THE SUPERCAPACITORS
There are two ways to recharge the SuperCapacitors:
1 Insert two AA batteries (not included). The SuperCapacitors
will be automatically recharged once the batteries are
in place. Depending on the type of batteries and the
temperature, charging takes 40-80 minutes.
2 Use the micro-USB port and the standard micro-USB cable
(provided). The USB port can be connected to a standard
charger (not included), or a standard power bank. Depending
on the type of charger or power bank, charging takes 20-40
minutes.
The charging status is indicated by the rapid blinking of the LEDs
(2 x per second).
The level of charge is indicated by the LED color.
Red: low charge – the charge level cannot guarantee full
inflation of the airbag (but it will still attempt to inflate the
airbag as much as possible).
Orange: medium charge – the charge level guarantees
100% inflation of the airbag but with less than six hours of
autonomy.
Green: charging is complete – the LED blinks slowly (1 x
every 3 seconds).

Note: The LED blinking speed indicates that the system is either
charging (2 x per second) or in standard ON mode (1 x every 3
seconds).
SUMMARY OF LED STATUSES
WARNING: Do not leave the USB cable connected while using the E1 System in terrain. After charging is complete, remove the USB cable.
WARNING: Always ensure the system has a full charge and a fresh set of AA batteries installed before heading out into avalanche terrain.
We recommend bringing a second set of AA batteries to recharge the system in case of deployment.
WARNING: While the ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM can be used without AA batteries, it is not recommended.
Green LED blinking slowly (1 x per 3 seconds)
The E1 System is charged (> 6h).
Orange LED blinking rapidly (2 x per 1 second)
The E1 System is charging and operational with less than six hours of autonomy.
Red LED blinking rapidly (2 x per 1 second)
The E1 System is charging and NOT operational; the charge level cannot guarantee full inflation of the airbag.
Red LED is permanently on and the orange LED is blinking rapidly
The E1 System is defective because the auto-test has detected a malfunction; the system
is charging but it is NOT operational.
Green LED blinking slowly (1 x per 3 seconds)
The E1 System is charged (> 6h).
Orange LED blinking slowly (1 x per 3 seconds)
The E1 System is operational with less than six hours of autonomy.
Red LED blinking slowly (1 x per 3 seconds)
The E1 System is NOT operational; the charge level cannot guarantee full inflation of the airbag.

operational.

Note:
+ Before the first use, charge the system with the USB port.
+ Charging with the USB cable takes priority over batteries. If the batteries are in place and the cable is connected, charging will be carried
out via the cable without draining the batteries.
+ Charging is also possible without batteries using the USB cable.
+ If the system is charging in OFF mode, the LEDs will not blink, but charging will continue.
+ The system recharges automatically. If the airbag is inflated, the system will begin to recharge the batteries or the USB port immediately.
+ 2 x AA batteries allow for 1-2 recharging cycles of the SuperCapacitors (depending on the quality of the batteries used and the charging
temperature).

FOLLOW THESE STEPS
Deflate by pushing and turning the deflation knob Pull the zipper completely open
+ In the event of an avalanche, pull hard (between 5 to 10 kg) on the activation trigger. The airbag will inflate in 3-4 seconds.
+ The compressor will operate for six seconds and then stop.
+ The airbag will remain inflated for a minimum of three minutes and then slowly begin to deflate.
+ Once inflation is complete, the SuperCapacitors will automatically recharge thanks to the two AA batteries if installed (see section 4)
Note: In compliance with the EN 16716 standard “Certification of Avalanche Airbags,” the airbag must remain inflated for a minimum of three
minutes. An avalanche airbag is not a life vest; therefore, it is not expected to remain inflated at full pressure for more than three minutes.
HANDLING DURING AVALANCHE INCIDENT
In the event of an avalanche, always try to reach a place of safety or escape from the path of the snowslip. If in the path, try to remove
your skis or snowboard, as these have an anchoring effect in an avalanche. Once the avalanche appears to be losing momentum,
close your mouth and hold your arms in front of your face to create a life-saving air pocket. Once the avalanche has stopped moving
and you can extract yourself, do not remove the airbag and help others. Only remove when you are confident there is no more risk
of a second avalanche.
WARNING: The airbag may deploy if the Deployment Handle is pulled anytime the lights are illuminated, even during charging.

AIRBAG INFLATION
DEFLATING AND RE-FOLDING THE AIRBAG
The airbag should be deflated using the airbag’s
deflation knob. This safety knob is designed to prevent
the system from accidentally activating in the backpack.
Press and turn the knob counter-clockwise.
Once the knob is released, it returns to its initial position
automatically so it won’t be left in the deflated position.

HOW TO ADJUST THE TRIGGER HANDLE
Adjust the height of the trigger handle
on the shoulder strap. There are three
different settings. The trigger handle
should ideally be at chest height.
Turn up the trigger handle to
change the height position
Then slide the trigger handle
out of the webbing loop
accordingly and slide it back
into the correct height.

PACK FIT
Put the pack on and bring the leg strap from behind
between the legs and to the front of the body. Thread
one side of the hipbelt buckle through the loop at the
end of the leg loop.
With the leg loop threaded onto the hipbelt, engage the
hipbelt buckle. Tighten the hipbelt snugly and evenly over
the top of the hipbone. The majority of the weight of the
pack should rest on the hipbones.

HOW TO REMOVE THE DETACHABLE AIRBAG SYSTEM
REGULAR CHECKS
Your OSPREY ALPRIDE avalanche backpack requires no maintenance but the following points must be observed:
+ Deploy the airbag before the new season starts or at least once a year or after the backpack has been exposed to moisture / wet weather.
Check its condition, allow it to dry and fold it back together again.
+ Pack the airbag away only when it is completely dry.
+ Prior to every tour, check all the points described in this owner’s manual and inspect the condition of the system’s safety straps and
fastenings.
Practice deploying the airbag so you have a feel for the amount of force you need to apply. In the event of a real avalanche, you will then be
able to deploy it correctly and intuitively.
1Turn off the system, open the air bag zipper and detach the hooks.
2Open the backpack, the compressor cover and the shoulder strap pocket. Detach the trigger handle.
3Push the trigger handle and the cable through the hole. Open the hook and loop slot.
4Pull the compressor and the airbag out.

POST-AVALANCHE CHECK
Every use of the OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM can negatively affect the material. Often the damage is not visible with the naked eye.
After use in an avalanche, contact ALPRIDE.
OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM for further inspection.
If you are unable to send the ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM, the following is recommended:
+ Check the airbag visually for punctures.
+ Check the airbag fastening straps for tears.
+ Check the shoulder, waist and chest straps as well as the seams for tears.
+ Check all buckles (adjustment buckles at the shoulder straps, waist and chest strap).
+ Check buckles as well as leg straps for tears and deformation.
STORAGE, CLEANING & SERVICE LIFE
STORAGE
Store your OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM in a cool, dry environment. For safety reasons, keep the backpack out of the reach of
children. Osprey Packs, Inc. shall not be liable for any damages and losses due to improper storage.
CLEANING
Use only water (no cleaning products) to clean the backpack. Ensure that the entire product is dry before using it again to avoid the risk
of icing. In case of a dirty inflator, the inflator system must be cleaned properly with a damp soft microfiber towel. Damage may occur if
water comes into contact with the compressor motor. Alpride SA shall not be liable for any damages and losses due to improper cleaning.
DISPOSAL
Dispose of the product in domestic waste. Do not mechanically disrupt or incinerate the product. This may lead to potential hazards.
Electrical appliance:
+ Never dispose of the electrical appliance in your household waste.
+ Return the electrical appliance using the recycling facilities provided.
+ Contact your local waste disposal authority for more details.
AA/LR6 1.5 V Batteries:
+ Never dispose of batteries in your household waste.
+ They may contain toxic heavy metals and are subject to hazardous waste regulations.
+ The chemical symbols of the heavy metals are: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead.
+ Only dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged.
+ Before disposing of the appliance, it is essential to first remove the batteries.
+ Return batteries using the recycling facilities provided.
+ Contact your local waste disposal authority for more details.
SERVICE LIFE
The product has a limited life time and should be replaced in case of signs of mechanical wear. It is recommended to regularly check your
gear and to replace it at least every five years after the first use. The functioning could be reduced due to mechanical wear or improper use.
Dispose of the product if you notice any damage. The OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM is designed to withstand 50 inflations.
HOW TO INSTALL THE DETACHABLE AIRBAG SYSTEM
1Open the airbag compartment zipper 3 cm to the end.
2Put the trigger handle through the hook and loop slot and insert it into the shoulder strap pocket.
Pass the airbag through the two holes into the airbag compartment.
3Close the compressor compartment cover and attach the hooks.
4Fold the airbag (see section 6) Attach the trigger handle (see section 7)

The OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM uses 2 x AA batteries. The OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM has no Li-Ion / Li-Po battery,
no gas cartridges under pressure and no pyrotechnic trigger.
The OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM has no restrictions for traveling and shall not be considered a dangerous good as defined by the
Dangerous Goods Regulations.
There are absolutely no restrictions for traveling with the OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM. To avoid any misunderstanding with airport
security agents, we recommend announcing to the airlines that you are traveling with an electrical avalanche airbag WITHOUT a battery. The
OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG SYSTEM has a pressure relief valve system.

MALFUNCTION TROUBLE SHOOTING
The airbag doesn’t inflate
when pulling trigger.
1- Is the E1 on? –> Check LED
2- Are the SuperCapacitors charged enough (LED orange or green)?
3- Is the auto-test OK? –> Check LED
The auto-test doesn’t work. The SuperCapacitors are not charged enough to run the motor.
–> Wait for orange or green LED
The auto-test is KO –>
Check LED
The compressor cover was not closed well and some material is blocking the compressor wheel and
preventing it from turning.
Airbag does not inflate fully.
There might be any of the following reasons for the malfunction:
1- The airbag is rolled instead of properly folded
2- There is webbing or something else covering and restraining the zipper
3- The deflation knob is blocked in the deflating position, preventing the non-return valve to close
properly
The system does not charge
from the AA batteries.
Make sure you are using brand new, premium quality alkaline or lithium AA / LR6 batteries.
Do not use AA zinc carbon batteries and NiCd or NiMH accumulators (rechargeable).

In dieser Bedienungsanleitung erhalten Sie Informationen zur
Funktion und Verwendung des OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-
SYSTEMS. Diese gelten für alle begeisterten Wintersportler, die
sich gerne abseits der Piste bewegen.
Lesen Sie diese Bedienungsanleitung vor der Verwendung des
Gerätes bitte sorgfältig durch. Beachten Sie insbesondere die
Warnhinweise und halten Sie sich strikt an die Informationen in den
Gebrauchsanweisungen. Um diese Gebrauchsanweisungen leicht
einsehen zu können, empfehlen wir Ihnen, sie an einem geeigneten
Ort aufzubewahren.
Das OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM ist eine
Notfallausrüstung, die unter bestimmten Bedingungen bei
Aktivierung eine gänzliche Verschüttung verhindern kann. Sie kann
das Auslösen einer Lawine nicht verhindern. Ein Anteil tödlichen
Risikos bleibt bestehen, selbst wenn der Benutzer nicht verschüttet
wird. Jede Lawine ist unabhängig von der Ausrüstung absolut
lebensgefährlich. Daher sollte Sie das ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM
nicht dazu ermutigen, größere Risiken einzugehen.
Im Falle einer Lawine muss der Benutzer am Auslösegriff ziehen,
um das Aufblasen zu aktivieren: Dadurch wird der 150-Liter-
Lawinenairbag innerhalb von 3Sekunden aufgeblasen.
Das Konzept des OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEMS basiert
auf dem physikalischen Prinzip der inversen Entmischung.
Dieses Phänomen bewirkt, dass bei einer gleichmäßig bewegten
Partikelmasse die kleineren Partikel nach unten sinken und die
größeren an die Oberfläche schweben. Der aufgeblasene Airbag
erhöht das Volumen des Opfers und verstärkt diesen umgekehrten
Entmischungseffekt erheblich. Der Lawinenrucksack hilft, einer
vollständigen Verschüttung im Schnee vorzubeugen. Die Form
des Airbags schützt den Rücken und Kopf des Benutzers. Darüber
hinaus sorgt die abgerundete Form für eine optimale Treibleistung
auf der Lawine und die helle Airbagfarbe für eine schnelle
Lokalisierung.

Das Lawinenairbag-System E1 ist der erste Lawinenairbag, der keine Lithium-Ionen- oder Lithium-Polymer-Akkus zum Betreiben des
Elektromotors im Kompressor verwendet.
Das E1-System speichert mit seinen Superkondensatoren Energie in Form eines elektrostatischen Feldes. Anders als bei herkömmlichen Akkus ist
es nicht erforderlich, eine chemische Reaktion zur Energieerzeugung auszulösen, sodass das E1-System seine Energie schneller abgeben kann.
Die Superkondensatoren des E1 bieten mehrere Vorteile gegenüber Akkus. Sie sind unempfindlich gegenüber Temperaturänderungen und liefern
bei -30°C und +50°C dieselbe Leistung. Dies spart Gewicht, da die Superkondensatoren im Gegensatz zu Akkus nicht aufgeladen werden müssen,
um bei niedrigen Temperaturen eine hervorragende Leistung zu garantieren.
Während Akkus nach wiederholtem Aufladen zu Verschleiß neigen, bleiben die Superkondensatoren stark. Sie garantieren 500.000 Ladezyklen
mit einer nahezu unbegrenzten Lebensdauer, die der 3- bis 5-jährigen Lebensdauer eines durchschnittlichen Akkus weit überlegen ist.
Superkondensatoren gelten als passive elektronische Elemente, wie beispielsweise Kameras. Daher gibt es keine Einschränkungen für Reisen,
Versand oder Lagerung. Dies ist ein großer Vorteil gegenüber herkömmlichen Akkus und Druckgas-Patronensystemen.
DER RADIALKOMPRESSOR
Das E1-System verwendet einen Radialkompressor, der sich mit Turbokompressoren in Autos vergleichen lässt. Diese Konstruktion ermöglicht
einen Luftstrom mit hoher Geschwindigkeit und einen Aufblasdruck, der Lawinenairbag-Systemen mit Druckluftpatronen entspricht.
2 xAA-BATTERIEN
Das E1 SuperCap-System nutzt zwei AA-Batterien für zwei Hauptzwecke:
1 um die Superkondensatoren aufzuladen.
2 um sicherzustellen, dass die Superkondensatoren ihre volle Leistung beibehalten, den langsamen Ladungsverlust kompensieren und mehrere
Monate Autonomie gewährleisten (siehe den nachfolgenden Abschnitt über Autonomie).
Hinweis: Es sollten nur Alkali- oder Lithiumbatterien (AA-Batterien) verwendet werden (zum schnellen Aufladen bei sehr niedrigen Temperaturen).
Verwenden Sie fabrikneue, hochwertige Alkali-AA/LR6-Batterien.
WARNUNG Verwenden Sie keine AA-Zink-Kohle-Batterien und NiCd- oder NiMH-Akkus (wiederaufladbar). Diese sind häufig nicht stark genug,
um die Superkondensatoren ausreichend aufzuladen.
Je nach AA-Batterietechnologie können Aufladung und Autonomie variieren:
Alkalibatterien:
+ sind für 1Aufladung ODER 3Monate Autonomie bei normaler Verwendung (1,5Monate, wenn ständig eingeschaltet) geeignet.
+ Es wird dringend empfohlen, die Batterien nach 1 Aufladung des Systems zu wechseln.
Lithiumbatterien:
+ sind für 3Aufladungen ODER 5Monate Autonomie bei normaler Verwendung (3Monate, wenn ständig eingeschaltet) geeignet.
+ Es wird dringend empfohlen, die Batterien nach 3 Aufladungen des Systems zu wechseln.
MICRO-USB-PORT
+ Der Micro-USB-Anschluss (5V – 2A) ermöglicht das Aufladen der Superkondensatoren mit dem im Lieferumfang enthaltenen USB-/Micro-
USB-Kabel.
+ Der Ladevorgang kann mit einem Standard-USB-Ladegerät (nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten) erfolgen. Das Aufladen der
Superkondensatoren mit dem Micro-USB-Kabel hat Vorrang vor dem Aufladen über die 2 x AA-Batterien.
+ Die Superkondensatoren können auch ohne AA-Batterien mit dem Micro-USB-Kabel aufgeladen werden.
AUTONOMIE DES E1-SYSTEMS
Die Autonomie des Systems hängt von der Qualität und Energie der AA-Batterien sowie von der Häufigkeit und Dauer der Verwendung im EIN- oder
AUS-Modus ab.
In den nachfolgend aufgeführten Fällen wird die Verwendung hochwertiger Alkalibatterien vorausgesetzt:
+ Ca. 2 bis 3Monate Autonomie mit zwei neuen AA-Alkalibatterien ohne Aufladung der Superkondensatoren (Einlegen neuer Batterien nach
dem Aufladen der Superkondensatoren)
+ Das System kann ohne zusätzliche AA-Batterien verwendet werden. Wir empfehlen jedoch dringend, es immer mit den Batterien zu
verwenden, um eine verlängerte Autonomie zu gewährleisten.
Bei Verwendung ohne Batterien und grün blinkendem LED-Status beträgt die Autonomie mindestens 6Stunden.

Verwenden Sie den EIN/AUS-Schalter, um das E1-System
einzuschalten. Dieser Sicherheitsschalter verhindert eine ungewollte
Aktivierung im Inneren des Rucksacks. Ziehen Sie den Schalter
nach oben, drehen Sie ihn im Uhrzeigersinn und halten Sie ihn für
2Sekunden gedrückt.
Bei jedem Einschalten führt das E1-System einen automatischen
Test durch, um sicherzustellen, dass Motor, Superkondensatoren
und Elektronik ordnungsgemäß funktionieren.
Während dieses automatischen Tests führt der Motor eine erste
Umdrehung mit niedriger Geschwindigkeit durch und schaltet
die grüne LED ein.
Wenn der automatische Test erfolgreich abgeschlossen wurde,
dreht sich der Motor ein zweites Mal und die grüne/orange LED
blinkt.
> Das System ist betriebsbereit.
Wenn der automatische Test eine Fehlfunktion feststellt, dreht
sich der Motor 4 x und die rote LED leuchtet weiterhin. Es liegt
ein Problem im System vor und es ist nicht betriebsbereit.
Wenn das System eine Fehlfunktion erkennt und aufgeladen
wird, leuchtet die rote LED weiterhin und die orange LED blinkt
schnell.
Um das System auszuschalten, ziehen Sie den Schalter und
drehen Sie ihn im Uhrzeigersinn (dieselbe Vorgehensweise wie
beim Einschalten). Der Motor dreht sich 1 x und die rote LED
schaltet sich ein und wieder aus, um anzuzeigen, dass das System
heruntergefahren wurde.
NUTZUNG IM GELÄNDE UND LED-STATUS
Um das E1-System im Gelände zu verwenden, müssen Sie:
1 Das E1-System einschalten (siehe Abschnitt3)
2 Sich überzeugen, dass der automatische Test in Ordnung ist
(siehe Abschnitt3)
Wenn die grüne LED blinkt, ist das System mit einer Autonomie
von mindestens sechs Stunden betriebsbereit.
Wenn die orange LED blinkt, ist das System mit einer Autonomie
von weniger als sechs Stunden betriebsbereit.
Wenn die rote LED blinkt, kann das System das Aufblasen nicht
zu 100% garantieren (es wird dennoch versuchen, den Airbag
so weit wie möglich aufzublasen).
Wenn die rote LED kontinuierlich leuchtet, ist das System
defekt und sollte nicht verwendet werden.
WARNUNG Durch Einschalten des E1-Systems wird das
Aufblasen des Airbags NICHT aktiviert. Um das
Aufblasen des Airbags zu aktivieren, muss fest am
Aktivierungsauslöser gezogen werden (zwischen 5
und 10kg).
AUFLADEN DER SUPERKONDENSATOREN
Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten, die Superkondensatoren aufzuladen:
1 Legen Sie zwei AA-Batterien ein (nicht im Lieferumfang
enthalten). Die Superkondensatoren werden automatisch
aufgeladen, sobald die Batterien eingelegt sind. Je nach
Batterietyp und Temperatur dauert der Ladevorgang 40 bis
80Minuten.
2 Verwenden Sie den Micro-USB-Port und das Standard-
Micro-USB-Kabel (im Lieferumfang enthalten). Der USB-Port
kann an ein Standard-Ladegerät (nicht im Lieferumfang
enthalten) oder eine Standard-Powerbank angeschlossen
werden. Je nach Art des Ladegerätes oder der Powerbank
dauert der Ladevorgang 20 bis 40Minuten.
Der Ladestatus wird durch schnelles Blinken der LEDs angezeigt
(2 x pro Sekunde).
Der Ladezustand wird durch die LED-Farbe angezeigt.
Rot: niedrige Ladung – Der Ladezustand kann kein
vollständiges Aufblasen des Airbags garantieren (es
wird dennoch versucht, den Airbag so weit wie möglich
aufzublasen).
Orange: mittlere Ladung – Der Ladezustand garantiert ein
Aufblasen des Airbags zu 100 %, jedoch mit weniger als
sechs Autonomiestunden.
Grün: der Ladevorgang ist abgeschlossen – die LED blinkt
langsam (1 x alle 3Sekunden).

WARNUNG: Das ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM kann zwar ohne AA-Batterien verwendet werden, dies wird jedoch nicht

BEFOLGEN SIE DIESE SCHRITTE

+ Ziehen Sie im Falle einer Lawine fest am Aktivierungsauslöser (zwischen 5 und 10kg). Der Airbag wird in 3 bis 4 Sekunden aufgeblasen.
+ Der Kompressor läuft sechs Sekunden lang und stoppt dann.
+ Der Airbag bleibt mindestens drei Minuten lang aufgeblasen und beginnt anschließend langsam, die Luft abzulassen.
+ Sobald der Aufblasvorgang abgeschlossen ist, werden die Superkondensatoren mit den beiden eingelegten AA-Batterien automatisch
aufgeladen (siehe Abschnitt4).
Hinweis: In Übereinstimmung mit der Norm EN 16716 „Zertifizierung von Lawinenairbags“ muss der Airbag mindestens drei Minuten lang
aufgeblasen bleiben. Ein Lawinenairbag ist keine Rettungsweste. Es wird daher nicht erwartet, dass er länger als drei Minuten bei vollem
Druck aufgeblasen bleibt.
VERHALTEN WÄHREND EINES LAWINENUNFALLS
Versuchen Sie im Falle einer Lawine immer, einen sicheren Ort zu erreichen oder dem Weg des rutschenden Schnees zu entkommen.
Wenn Sie sich auf diesem Weg befinden, versuchen Sie, Ihre Skier oder Ihr Snowboard zu entfernen, da diese einen Anker-Effekt in
einer Lawine haben. Sobald die Lawine an Schwung zu verlieren scheint, schließen Sie Ihren Mund und halten Sie Ihre Arme vor Ihr
Gesicht, um eine lebensrettende Lufttasche zu schaffen. Wenn sich die Lawine nicht mehr bewegt und Sie sich selbst herausziehen
können, entfernen Sie den Airbag nicht und helfen Sie anderen. Entfernen Sie ihn erst, wenn Sie sicher sind, dass keine zweite
Lawine mehr droht.
WARNUNG: Der Airbag kann ausgelöst werden, wenn der Auslösegriff gezogen wurde, sobald die Lichter leuchten, auch während
des Ladevorgangs.

ABLASSEN UND ZUSAMMENFALTEN DES AIRBAGS
Der Airbag sollte mit dem Ablassknopf des Airbags
entleert werden. Dieser Sicherheitsknopf soll verhindern
dass das System versehentlich im Rucksack aktiviert
wird. Drücken Sie den Knopf und drehen Sie ihn gegen
den Uhrzeigersinn.
Sobald der Knopf losgelassen wird, kehrt er automatisch
in seine Ausgangsposition zurück, damit er nicht in der
entleerten Position verbleibt.

PASSFORM DES RUCKSACKS

REGELMÄSSIGE ÜBERPRÜFUNGEN
Ihr OSPREY ALPRIDE Lawinen-Rucksack ist wartungsfrei, jedoch müssen folgende Punkte beachtet werden:
+ Lösen Sie den Airbag vor Beginn der neuen Saison oder mindestens einmal im Jahr oder nachdem der Rucksack Feuchtigkeit/Nässe
ausgesetzt war, aus. Überprüfen Sie seinen Zustand, lassen Sie ihn trocknen und falten Sie ihn wieder zusammen.
+ Packen Sie den Airbag erst dann ein, wenn er vollständig trocken ist.
+ Überprüfen Sie vor jeder Tour alle in diesen Gebrauchsanweisungen beschriebenen Punkte und den Zustand der Sicherheitsgurte und
-befestigungen des Systems.
Üben Sie das Auslösen des Airbags, damit Sie ein Gefühl für die Kraft haben, die Sie anwenden müssen. Im Falle einer echten Lawine können
Sie ihn dann korrekt und intuitiv auslösen.
1Schalten Sie das System aus, öffnen Sie den Airbag-Reißverschluss und lösen Sie die Haken.
2Öffnen Sie den Rucksack, die Kompressor-Abdeckung und die Schultergurt-Tasche. Entfernen Sie den
Auslösegriff.
3Schieben Sie den Auslösegriff und das Kabel durch das Loch. Öffnen Sie den Klettverschluss-Schlitz.
4Ziehen Sie den Kompressor und den Airbag heraus.

ÜBERPRÜFUNG NACH EINER LAWINE
Jeder Einsatz des OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEMS kann negative Auswirkungen auf das Material haben. Häufig sind Schäden mit
bloßem Auge nicht erkennbar. Wenden Sie sich nach dem Einsatz in einer Lawine an ALPRIDE, um das OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM
einer weiterführenden Überprüfung zu unterziehen.
Wenn Sie das ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM nicht einsenden können, wird Folgendes empfohlen:
+ Überprüfen Sie den Airbag visuell auf Löcher.
+ Überprüfen Sie die Airbag-Befestigungsgurte auf Risse.
+ Überprüfen Sie die Schulter-, Taillen- und Brustgurte sowie die Nähte auf Risse.
+ Überprüfen Sie alle Schnallen (Einstellschnallen an den Schulter-, Taillen- und Brustgurten).
+ Überprüfen Sie die Schnallen sowie die Beinschlaufen auf Risse und Verformungen.
AUFBEWAHRUNG, REINIGUNG UND LEBENSDAUER
AUFBEWAHRUNG
Lagern Sie Ihr OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM an einem kühlen, trockenen Ort. Bewahren Sie den Rucksack aus Sicherheitsgründen
außerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf. Osprey Packs, Inc. übernimmt keine Haftung für Schäden und Verluste, die durch unsachgemäße
Lagerung entstehen.
REINIGUNG
Verwenden Sie zur Reinigung des Rucksacks nur Wasser (keine Reinigungsmittel). Stellen Sie sicher, dass das gesamte Produkt trocken
ist, bevor Sie es erneut verwenden, um die Gefahr von Vereisung zu vermeiden. Im Falle einer verschmutzten Aufblas-Vorrichtung muss das
Aufblassystem ordnungsgemäß mit einem feuchten, weichen Mikrofasertuch gereinigt werden. Wenn der Kompressor-Motor mit Wasser
in Kontakt kommt, kann dies zu Schäden führen. Alpride SA übernimmt keine Haftung für Schäden und Verluste, die durch unsachgemäße
Reinigung entstehen.
ENTSORGUNG
Entsorgen Sie das Produkt im Hausmüll. Zerlegen Sie das Produkt nicht mechanisch und verbrennen Sie es nicht. Dies kann zu potenziellen
Gefahren führen.
Elektrogerät:
+ Entsorgen Sie das Elektrogerät niemals im Hausmüll.
+ Geben Sie das Elektrogerät an den dafür vorgesehenen Recycling-Einrichtungen ab.

EINSETZEN DES ABNEHMBAREN AIRBAG-SYSTEMS
1Öffnen Sie den Reißverschluss des Airbag-Fachs bis 3cm vor dem Ende.
2Führen Sie den Auslösegriff durch den Klettverschluss-Schlitz und stecken Sie ihn in die
Schultergurt-Tasche. Führen Sie den Airbag durch die beiden Löcher in das Airbag-Fach.
3Schließen Sie die Abdeckung des Kompressor-Fachs und befestigen Sie die Haken.
4Falten Sie den Airbag (siehe Abschnitt6) und befestigen Sie den Auslösegriff (siehe Abschnitt7)

Das OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM verwendet 2 x AA-Batterien. Das OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM verfügt über keinen
Li-Ion-/Li-Po-Akku, keine unter Druck stehenden Gaskartuschen und keinen pyrotechnischen Auslöser.
Das OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM unterliegt keinen Reisebeschränkungen und gilt nicht als Gefahrgut im Sinne der Gefahrgutverordnung.
Es gibt absolut keine Einschränkungen für das Reisen mit dem OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 AIRBAG-SYSTEM. Um Missverständnisse mit Sicher-
heitsbeamten an Flughäfen zu vermeiden, empfehlen wir, der Fluggesellschaft mitzuteilen, dass Sie mit einem elektrischen Lawinenairbag

Die Kompressor-Abdeckung war nicht richtig geschlossen und Material blockiert das Kompressor-Rad
und verhindert, dass es sich dreht.

Es kann einer der folgenden Gründe für die Fehlfunktion vorliegen:
1- Der Airbag wurde aufgerollt anstatt ordnungsgemäß gefaltet
2- Der Reißverschluss wird von einem Band oder etwas ähnlichem bedeckt und festgehalten
3- Der Ablassknopf ist in der Ablassposition blockiert und verhindert, dass das Rückschlagventil
ordnungsgemäß schließt
Das System wird von den
AA-Batterien nicht auf-
geladen.
Achten Sie darauf, fabrikneue, hochwertige Alkali- oder Lithium-AA/LR6-Batterien zu verwenden.
Verwenden Sie keine AA-Zink-Kohle-Batterien und NiCd- oder NiMH-Akkus (wiederaufladbar).

Ce manuel vous fournit des informations à propos du
fonctionnement et de l'utilisation du SYSTÈME D'AIRBAG OSPREY
ALPRIDE E1. Il s'adresse à tous ceux qui pratiquent les sports de
glisse en hors-piste.
Veuillez lire ce manuel attentivement avant d'utiliser le dispositif.
Soyez particulièrement attentif/ve aux avertissements et respectez
scrupuleusement les informations contenues dans ce manuel
utilisateur. Afin de pouvoir consulter le manuel utilisateur, nous
vous conseillons de le garder à portée de main.
Le SYSTÈME D'AIRBAG OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 est un équipement
d'urgence, qui après activation et sous certaines conditions peut
empêcher un ensevelissement complet. Il ne peut empêcher le
déclenchement d'une avalanche. Il existe un risque mortel même
si l'utilisateur n'est pas enseveli. Chaque avalanche présente un
risque mortel quel que soit l'équipement utilisé. Aussi, le SYSTÈME
D'AIRBAG ALPRIDE E1 ne doit pas vous encourager à prendre
davantage de risques.
En cas d'avalanche, l'utilisateur doit tirer sur la poignée de
déclenchement pour activer le système de gonflage: l’airbag anti-
avalanche de 150 litres se gonfle ainsi en 3 secondes.
Le concept du SYSTÈME D’AIRBAG OSPREY ALPRIDE E1 repose
sur le principe physique de la ségrégation inverse. Il s’agit du
phénomène selon lequel les particules les plus petites d’une masse
se déplaçant de manière uniforme ont tendance à s’accumuler
vers le bas, alors que les plus grosses particules restent à la
surface. Une fois gonflé, l’airbag augmente le volume constitué
par la victime et amplifie donc notablement l’effet de ségrégation
inverse. Le sac à dos d'avalanche contribue ainsi à prévenir
l’ensevelissement total dans la neige. La forme de l’airbag protège
le dos et la tête de l’utilisateur. En outre, sa forme arrondie permet
une efficacité de flottaison optimale sur l’avalanche et la couleur
vive de l'airbag assure une localisation rapide.
