1. INTRODUCTION
Congr tul tions on your purch se of the ALTAIR E-200 SERIES intercom system, bluetooth b se
st tion EB-200.
There re m ny ch r cteristics th t m kes of the ALTAIR EB-200 one of the most highlighted in
the udio profession l m rket, some re enumer ted here:
The unit incorpor tes Cl ss 1 bluetooth connection, which gives theoretic l m ximum
cover ge of 100 meters.
It is possible to connect it to the wired system ALTAIR E-200 ALTAIR, or to the wireless system
ALTAIR WB-200.
The r dio link is performed on comp tible he dset bluetooth, bluetooth h nds free system or
mobile phone with bluetooth connectivity.
You c n m ke r dio link between two bluetooth extensions ALTAIR E-200, to interconnect two
intercom systems sep r ted 100 meters.

P iring is e sily set-up by just the pushing of button.
Before beginning it is import nt to re d this m nu l. This m nu l will help you to inst ll nd use
your new intercom m ster st tion. It is very import nt to re d it c refully, m inly the p r gr phs
m rked s NOTE, PRECAUTION nd DANGER, for your security.
S ve the origin l p cking, you c n re-use it to tr nsport the unit. NEVER SHIP THE ALTAIR
EB-200 WITHOUT ITS ORIGINAL PACKING.

2. SWITCHES, CONTROLS, ADJUSTMENTS AND CONNECTORS
These re the switches, controls, djustments nd connectors th t you c n find in your ALTAIR
bluetooth b se st tion. The description nd expl n tion of e ch one will be found in the
corresponding section.
2.1 FRONT PANEL

3. OPERATION
The new bluetooth b se st tion ALTAIR EB-200 is comp tible with the ALTAIR E-200 c ble
b sed intercom systems.
This new first on the m rket st tion llows the oper tion of bluetooth devices into the intercom
lines. Connection nd oper tion re the s me s beltp ck, just connect to the line nd go.
The unit c n connect with bluetooth he dphones, bluetooth h nds free, bluetooth mobile
phones nd even with nother ALTAIR EB-200 unit.
Mic level nd e r level c n be independent djusted to meet bro d r nge of devices'
oper tion. P iring is e sily set-up by just the pushing of button.
Applic tions include wireless repl cement of wired beltp ck nd he dset, telephone
interf ce from mobile phone c lls, sm ll wireless intercom systems mong others.
Oper ting r nge of the system depends of the he dset device used or power cl ss chosen.
In order to obt in the best perform nce, we recommend the use of cl ss 1 devices, llowing
line of sight oper tion of 60 to 100 meter. When using st nd rd low cost he dsets, cl ss 2 devices,
the r nge will be reduced to 10 meters, but this would be enough for close communic tion s for
ex mple the oper ting room in technic l desk oper tors.
Another benefit of the system is the freedom to receive n extern l c ll from your mobile phone
in the s me he dset nd the possibility to we r the mixer he dphones over the bluetooth he dset.
3.1 INTERCOM LINE CONNECTION
The intercom line connection t kes pl ce by me ns of shielded two-conductor microphone
c ble type nd XLR-3-31/XLR-3-32 connectors. The beltp ck h s XLR-3-31 nd XLR-3-32
connectors wired intern lly in p r llel. The next ch rt shows the distribution of the sign ls in the XLR
connectors
In the power consumption c lcul tion, must be t ken into ccount th t the bluetooth b se
st tion consume twice th t the convention l EM-201 beltp ck.
In the inst ll tion nd connection of the intercom network it is necess ry to keep in mind
import nt rules in order to void e rth loops, minimize the power loss nd the effect of
electrom gnetic fields s much s possible:
Pin 1 should not be connected to the shell of the XLR connector.
Don't close the intercom line connection. E ch intercom line le ves from the m in st tion tow rd
the remote st tions, but it doesn't return to the m in st tion.
Use high qu lity c bles nd minimize its longitude. The DC resist nce of low qu lity c ble or
with gre t longitude ffects to the power consumption, the ch nnels crosst lk nd the system
frequency response.

3.2 PAIRING SWITCH
The p iring button h s two m in functions, llows bluetooth units to p ir nd in the
st rt up, er se the bluetooth p iring, which will be expl ined in det il in the
correspondent section.
The ssoci ted LED blinks when the p ired he dset is under r nge. A continuous
led blink shows n out of r nge situ tion, he dset off or not p ired device.
3.3 MIC SWITCH
The MIC switch llows to ON/OFF the he dset microphone, so th t we re ble to
spe k with other units connected to the s me intercom ch nnel.
If the microphone is ctiv ted, its ssoci ted LED will light up, nd on the other h nd, if
it is dis bled, its ssoci ted LED will turn off.
The unit provides MIC-KILL (turns off the MIC) system, so th t when the mic is en bled it is
possible to muted it by the MIC-KILL function of the m ster st tion ALTAIR EF-200 or ALTAIR WB-
200/WB-202. This MIC-KILL system is comp tible with other intercom systems of the m rket.
The microphone c n lw ys turn on the unit (if it is off), pressing the volume switch (VOLUME +
/ VOLUME -) of the bluetooth h ndset/h nds free. Microphone st tus (ON / OFF) is not s ved in the
unit, when the unit is turned on, the MIC rem ins on.
NOTE: In most he dsets, you c n m ke MIC mute by pressing nd holding both VOLUME + nd
VOLUME - buttons t the s me time. Consult the he dset m nu l.
3.4 EAR SWITCH
The EAR switch llows to ON/OFF the he dset listen, so th t we re ble to e r other
units connected to the s me intercom ch nnel.
If the EAR is ctiv ted, its ssoci ted LED will light up, nd on the other h nd, if it is
dis bled, its ssoci ted LED will turn off.
3.5 ANTENNA
The bluetooth b se st tion h s n ntenn connector ANT., to mount the ntenn supplied
with the equipment.
It is import nt to pl ce the unit in upper re , to void interference nd the ntenn c n
r di te in open sp ce.
3.6 PAIRING THE BLUETOOTH BASE STATION
In the p iring process between two bluetooth units, this units should not be
connected with nother bluetooth device t th t moment, so unplug ll connections
bluetooth devices, prior to their p iring.
ALTAIR Unit EB-200 rem ins visible to other bluetooth units while not connected to
nother bluetooth device, in which c se it will rem in invisible.
The most common p iring is with bluetooth he dphones or bluetooth h nds free unit, in
which c se we set the unit you w nt to m tch the bluetooth b se st tion in p iring mode, follow the
instructions m nu l of the bluetooth he dset/h nds free unit to configure it this mode (in most
he dset nd h nds free bluetooth, p iring mode is set by press nd hold the power button until it
fl shes between red nd blue).
Once the bluetooth he dset or h nds free is in p iring mode, we will press nd hold the
p iring button until the LED ssoci ted with the switch fl shes quickly. If the process h s worked,

nd the devices re p ired, both devices will stop blinking, nd fter few moments be connected,
st rting with fl shing LED p iring bluetooth extension. If the routine f ils, go b ck to complete the
whole process g in.
If we w nt to p ir with nother bluetooth b se st tion ALTAIR EB-200, simply press nd hold
the p iring button on one unit, nd follow the instructions bove.
To p ir with mobile phone, you should m ke the entire oper tion from the mobile phone,
looking for the bluetooth b se st tion (ALTAIR EB-200), nd p iring with it, nd selecting utom tic
connection with the bluetooth device (follow the instructions of your mobile phone for p iring.)
The b se st tion stores up to 5 bluetooth p iring with bluetooth devices. The unit connects to
the first bluetooth device it finds (with which it is p ired).
NOTE: The p iring p ssword m tch of the ALTAIR EB-200 unit by def ult, is: 0000, suit ble for most
bluetooth devices. If you w nt to ch nge, there is softw re to do it through the USB connection of
the unit.
3.7 UNPAIR ALL UNITS
With the power unit (intercom b se ALTAIR EF-200, WBS-200, etc.) turned off, press
nd hold the PAIRING button, nd turn the unit on, until the PAIRING LED blinks one time.
With dist nt intercom powered unit, switching on or off the unit is m de by
disconnecting the XLR intercom line.
3.8 CHANGING THE HEADSET MIC GAIN
Press nd hold the MIC button, nd when the MIC LED, the EAR LED or both re
blinking, press the MIC button to decre se the MIC g in (when the LED ssoci ted
with the MIC switch stops fl shing, we will h ve re ched the minimum g in), or press
the EAR button to incre se the MIC g in (when the LED ssoci ted with the EAR switch
stops fl shing, we will h ve re ched the m ximum g in).
This function d pts the he dset type to the intercom levels.
3. CHANGING THE HEADSET EAR GAIN
Press nd hold the EAR button, nd when the MIC LED, the EAR LED or both re
blinking, press the MIC button to decre se the EAR g in (when the LED ssoci ted
with the MIC switch stops fl shing, we will h ve re ched the minimum g in), or press
the EAR button to incre se the EAR g in (when the LED ssoci ted with the EAR switch
stops fl shing, we will h ve re ched the m ximum g in).
This function d pts the he dset type to the intercom levels.
3.10 USB CONNECTOR
The USB connector is used for firmw re upgr de nd to control the unit by PC, nd
ch nge the p iring p ssword, see the p iring units nd control the mic nd e r g ins:

4. SPECIAL OPERATIONS
In order to set-up some of the single ch nnel beltp ck, the unit must be opened, removing the two
extern l screws of its re r p nel.
NOTE: This type of oper tions t kes pl ce with the unit open, for wh t it should be c rried out by
qu lified technici n.
DANGER: Before opening the unit, disconnect it from the intercom ch nnel nd from the he dset.
CAUTION: Protect the single ch nnel beltp ck from the r in nd moisture, mostly if it is opened. If
liquid is spilled into the unit, disconnect it from the intercom ch nnel nd consult qu lified service
technici n.
4.1 SIDETONE CONTROL
The sidetone control, pl ced inside the unit (P1, sidetone), djusts the level of your own voice
s you he r it in your he dphones. It is designed to m ke pproxim tely in the potentiometer
h lfw y tr velling the m ximum c ncell tion of your own voice (th t is to s y th t you won't
he r your voice through the he dphones), tot lly to the right or to the left giving the m ximum
level of voice, going by ll the intermedi tes positions of level.

Fl ws due to wrong use of the unit, intern l modific tions or ccidents, re not covered by this
w rr nty.
There is no other w rr nty expressed or implicit.
Any f ulty unit must be sent to the de ler or the m nuf cturer. The seri l number of the unit
must be included for ny request to the technic l service.
