In a class by itself during Hollywood’s golden era, the A7 was the only commercially
available theater speaker approved by the Research Council of the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences. Originally introduced in the 1950s, the A7 became a mainstay
in recording studios and audiophiles’ homes as well as in theaters.
The new Legacy A7 is a meticulous re-issue of this classic Altec speaker. Manufactured in
the USA, it is true to the original in every engineering detail with one exception: more
refined cabinetry.
Technologies mature. Tastes change. Audio evolves. However,
qualitatively speaking, some of the best speakers to ever hit the
market did so years ago. That’s why Altec Lansing is re-issuing
some real classics: the 305 S, 508 S, and 510 S – speakers famous
for their sensitivity and power.
What’s more, we’ve tweaked these systems ever so slightly,
enhancing their best qualities and furthering the “art of
balance.” The result? An audio experience that offers all the best
qualities of yesterday and today.
