Verifystabilizingleg is raised before moving
refrigerator. Raise stabilizing leg by turning
counterclockwise.

1. Remove and reverse doors if necessary.
a. Removetop hingecover.Remove tophinge.
b. Removefreezer door.
c. Liftdoorclosureoff center hinge pin. Remove center
hingepin.
d. Removerefrigerator door.
e. Removecenterhinge bracket.
f. Removetoegrilleandbottomhingecover.Remove
bottom hinge.
2. Connect ice maker water supply line.
•See instructions on rear of refrigerator cabinet.
3. Plug in power cord.
4. Move refrigerator into final location.
5. Level refrigerator.
a. Removetoegrille.Remove bottom hingecoverif
refrigeratorhas a stabilizing leg.
b. Turnroller adjustment screw to raiseorlower
refrigeratorcabinet.Frontofrefrigeratormustbe
1/4" (6 mm) higher than back.

Consumer Installer Doors
Handles are solidly attached to doors.
Handle side of door is 1/8" (3 mm) higher than hinge side. (Door lowers when
loadedwithfood.)

Controls
Thisrefrigeratoroperates at household temperatures of
55° to 110°F(13°to 43°C).
Fresh Food and Deepfreeze®Controls
Fresh Food and Deepfreeze®controls are located on
centerdividerbetween FreshFoodandDeepfreeze®
sections.
When Deepfreeze®controlis set to OFF, neither Fresh
Food nor Deepfreeze®sections will cool. Initially, set both
controls to 4. Wait 24 hours for Fresh Food and
Deepfreeze®sections to reach desired temperatures.
After 24 hours, adjust controls, one number at a time, as
desired. 1 is warmest setting and 7 is coldest. Exterior Moisture Control
ExteriorMoisture Control islocated on center divider
betweenFresh Food and Deepfreeze®sections.
Inhumid conditions, refrigerators formcondensation
arounddoors.Specialheatersinrefrigeratorcabinet
minimizecondensation.
Humiditydependsonlocation of refrigerator. Set control to
ONif refrigerator is ina humid area orwhenever moisture
is evident around doors. Set control to OFF if refrigerator
is in a less humid area. Setting can be adjusted as
conditionschange.
High quality steel is used in this refrigerator. However,
constant exposure to moisture may cause refrigerator
cabinet to rust. Set control to ON anytime condensation
formsonrefrigerator cabinet.
Setting Controls
Setcontrols precisely witha household thermometer that
includestemperatures between -5° to50°F
(-21°to10°C).
Put thermometer snugly between frozen packages in
Deepfreeze®section.Wait5-8 hours. If Deepfreeze®
temperature is not 0° to 2°F (-17° to -16°C), adjust
control, 1 number at a time. Check again after 5-8 hours.
Putthermometer in aglass of waterin middle ofFresh
Foodsection. Wait 5-8 hours. IfFresh Food temperature
is not 38° to 40°F (3° to 4°C), adjust control, 1 number at
atime. Check again after 5-8 hours.

Modelsfeature either glassor wire shelves. Shelves
adjustto meet individualstorage needs. Some models

EasyGlide™shelvespull forward for easy accessof items

Chiller Fresh™System (Some models)
Chiller Fresh™system features a drawer inside a sleeve.
Air circulates between drawer and sleeve. This systems
keepsfood fresh longerand up to5°F (3°C) colderthan
FreshFoodtemperature.
Chiller Fresh™controlis located belowfront shelf trim.
Controladjustsamountofaircirculatingarounddrawer.
Slide control to coldfor normal Fresh Foodtemperature
and to coldest for colder temperature. Ice crystals may
form on drawer or food on coldest setting. Cold air can
decreaseFreshFood temperature. Fresh Food control
may need to be adjusted.
•Removedrawerby liftingandpullingout. Remove
shelfby lifting front,releasing hooks frommetal track
then pulling out.
•Replace shelf by inserting hooks into metal track and
loweringfront. Use slots1 through 3only. Replace
drawer by sliding in.
WhenmovingChiller Fresh™system left orright, move
control, located on center back wall of Fresh Food
section, to same side as system.

Garden Fresh™Crispers (Some models)
Garden Fresh™crisperskeep produce fresh longer. Wrap
producetightly.Donotwashproducebeforeplacingin
crispers. Excess moisture could cause produce to spoil
prematurely. Do not line crispers with paper towels. Paper
towels will retain moisture.
Garden Fresh™controlis located belowfront shelf trim.
Control adjusts humidity in crispers. Slide control to high
for produce with leaves such as lettuce, spinach or
cabbage. Slide control to low for produce with skins such
ascauliflower,cornortomatoes.
Removeshelfandcrispers by completingthefollowing
steps.
1. Openleft* crisper. *Fordoors hinged onleft, open
right crisper.
Caution
To avoid personal injury or property damage,
handletemperedglassshelvescarefully.
Shelvesmaybreaksuddenlyif nicked,
scratched, or exposed to sudden temperature
change.
2. Removeshelfbygently pushing upfromunderneath.
Tilt one end up then pull out.
3. Removeleft* crisper by lifting frontwhilesupporting
underneaththen pulling out. *For doorshinged on left,
removeright crisper.
4. Removesupport post atrecess in bottomcenter of
Fresh Food section.
5. Removeother crisper bysliding to oppositewall. Lift
frontwhilesupportingunderneaththenpullout.
6. Replacecrispers and shelfby reversing steps 1-5.
Covered Storage Bucket (Some models)
Storagebucket has a lidand removable egg tray. When
tray is removed, bucket will accept items such as a
standard egg carton, ice, etc.
Dairy Center (Some models)
Dairycenterprovidesconvenientstorageforitemssuch
as butter, cheese, etc.
•Removedairy center bylifting door, pushing tabs
toward center and pulling out.
•Replace dairy center by sliding in until tabs lock into
placeandlowering door.

Door Buckets
Door buckets adjust to meet individual storage needs.
•Remove door buckets by pushing tabs toward center
and pulling out.
•Replace door buckets by sliding in until tabs lock

Deepfreeze®Features
Caution

Automatic Ice Maker (Some models)
•Confirm ice bucket is in place and ice maker arm is
down.
•After Deepfreeze®sectionreachesnormal
temperature, ice maker fills with water and begins
operating.Allow24-48 hours after installation before
firstharvest of ice.Ice maker produces7 to 9harvests
ofice in a 24-hour periodunder ideal conditions.
•After ice is formed, ice maker drops ice cubes into
ice storage bucket. During ice production, ice maker
arm raises and lowers. When ice storage bucket is
full,ice maker armturns ice makeroff. Discard first3
harvestsoficeafterinitiallyconnecting refrigerator to
householdwatersupplyandafterextended periods of
non-use.
•Stop ice production by raising ice maker arm. A
definite click is heard when proper position is
reached.Ice maker arm will remainin that position
until pushed down.
Caution
To avoiddamagetoice maker, observe the
following:
•Do not force ice maker arm down or up,
past stop position.
•Do not place or store anything in ice
storage bucket.
3. Replaceice service rackby lining upmounting holes
with screws. Slide rack back until secure.
Ice Service Rack (Some models)
Ice service rack provides easy access of ice cube trays
and ice bucket.
Moveiceservicerack by completing the following steps.
1. Removeice service rackby sliding rackforward until
screwsare in middleof mounting holesthen pulling
out.
2. Removescrews.Remove plugs from opposite side.
Replace plugs with screws and screws with plugs.

•Removewireshelfbytilting one end up and
pulling out.
•Replacewire shelf bytilting one endup and placing
endon ledge. Tiltother end downand place onledge.
Tall Package Retainer (Some models)
Tall package retainer keeps tall items secure. Retainer
fits in any door bucket or door shelf.

Care and Cleaning
WARNING
To avoid electrical shock which can cause

manufacturer'sdirections.
General
1. Wash surfaces with 4 tablespoons baking soda
dissolved in 1 quart warm water and a soft, clean
cloth.
2. Rinse surfaces with warm water. Dry surfaces with a
soft, clean cloth.
•Donot use the followingitems:
-abrasiveor harsh cleaners, ammonia,chlorine
bleach, etc.
-concentrateddetergentsorsolvents
-metal scouring pads
These items can scratch, crack and discolor
surfaces.
•Do not place buckets, shelves, etc. in dishwasher.
Odor Removal
1. Removeallfoodanddisconnectpower to refrigerator.
2. Cleanallinteriorsurfacesincludingceiling, floor, and
walls according to “General” instructions. Pay special
attentiontocorners,crevices,andgrooves. Include all
drawers, shelves, and gaskets.
3. Connectpowertorefrigerator and returnfoodto
refrigerator.Wash and dry all bottles,containersand
jars. Wrap foods in tightly sealed containers to
preventfurther odor. After 24hours, check if odor was
eliminated.
Completethe following stepsif odor wasnot eliminated.
4. Complete steps 1-2.
5. Placegarden fresh crisperson top shelfof Fresh
Foodsection. Pack Fresh Food and Deepfreeze®
sections including doors with crumpled sheets of
black and white newspaper.
6. Placecharcoalbriquettesrandomlythroughout
newspaper.
7. Close doors and let stand 24-48 hours.
8. Removecharcoalbriquettesandnewspapers.
9. Complete steps 2-3.

Adhesives
1. Remove glue residue by rubbing toothpaste into
adhesivewithfingersuntil adhesive loosens.
2. Rinsesurface with warmwater. Dry surfacewith a
soft, clean cloth.
Door Gaskets
1. Clean door gaskets every 3 months according to
“General” instructions.
2. Apply a light film of petroleum jelly to keep gaskets
pliable.
Condenser Coils
Cleancondenser coil every3 months toensure maximum
performanceofrefrigerator. Accumulateddustandlint
may cause the following:
•reducedcooling performance
•increased energy usage
•prematurepartfailure
1. Removetoegrillebyholdingendsandpullingforward.
2. Cleanfrontsurfaceof condenser coil with a vacuum
cleaner hose nozzle.
3. Replace toe grille by inserting clips in holes and
snapping in.
Caution
To avoidpropertydamage,protect soft vinyl or
otherflooring with cardboard, rugs, or other
protectivematerial.Verifystabilizinglegis
raisedbefore movingrefrigerator.Raise
stabilizing leg by turning counterclockwise.
4. Pullrefrigerator away from wall. Runavacuum
brush across condenser fan outlet grille on back
ofrefrigerator.

Light Bulbs
WARNING

Afterreplacinglightbulb,connectpower.
Caution
To avoidpersonal injury or property

•Allow light bulb to cool.
•Weargloveswhenreplacinglight bulb.
1. Removelightbulb cover byremovingscrewatback
center.Pullcover down. Replace bulb(s) with 40-watt
appliancebulb(s).
2. Replacelightbulbcoverby placing cover over light
bulb. Insert and tighten screw.
Glass Shelves
Caution
To avoid personal injury or property damage,
handletemperedglassshelvescarefully.
Shelvesmaybreaksuddenlyif nicked,
scratched, or exposed to sudden temperature
change.
Removeshelfbylifting front, releasing hooks from metal
track then pulling out. Place shelf on a towel. Allow shelf
toadjusttoroomtemperaturebeforecleaning.
Clean crevices by completing the following steps:
1. Dilutemild detergent and brush solutionintocrevices
using a plastic bristle brush. Let set for 5 minutes.
2. Spraywarm water into crevices usingfaucetspray
attachment.
3. Dryshelf thoroughly and replace shelfbyinserting
hooksintometal track and lowering front.

Energy Tips
Thisrefrigerator is designed tobe one of themost energy
efficientrefrigeratorsavailable.Reduceenergyuseby
observingthe following.
•Operateinnormalhouseholdtemperaturesof 55° to
110°F (13° to 43°C) away from heat sources and
direct sunlight.
•SetFreshFood, Deepfreeze®,andChiller Fresh™
system controls no colder than necessary.
•KeepDeepfreeze®section full.
•Keep door gaskets clean and pliable. Replace
gaskets if worn.
•Keep condenser coils clean.
•Turn exterior moisture control ON when necessary.
Vacation Tips
Completethefollowingstepsforshortvacations.
1. Remove perishable foods. Warranty does not cover
food loss. Checkwarranty certificate for specific
coverage.
2. If an ice maker is installed, move ice maker arm to off
position.
Completethefollowing steps for long vacations.
1. Emptyrefrigerator and freezer sections.
2. Unplugrefrigerator.
3. Cleanrefrigeratoranddoorgasketsaccordingto
“General”instructions in “Care and Cleaning” section.
4. Prop doors open, so air can circulate inside.
5. If an ice maker is installed, turn water supply to
refrigeratoroffandmoveice maker arm to off
position.

Normal Operating Sounds
Thisnew refrigerator maybe replacing a differently
designed, less efficient or smaller refrigerator. Today’s
refrigeratorshavenewfeaturesandaremoreenergy
efficient. As a result, certain sounds may be unfamiliar.
Thesesounds are normal and willsoon become familiar.
Thesesounds also indicaterefrigerator is operating and
performingas designed.
1. Deepfreeze®fan air rushes and whirs.
2. Sealed system (evaporator and heat exchanger)
refrigerantflowgurgles,popsorsounds like boiling
water.
3. Condenser fan air rushes and whirs.
4. Compressor hasa high pitched hum or pulsating
sound.
5. Defrost timer sounds like an electric clock and
snaps in and out of defrost cycle.
6. Deepfreeze®control clicks when starting or
stopping compressor.
7. Defrost heater sizzles, hisses or pops.
8. Ice cubes from ice maker (somemodels) drop into
ice bucket.
Water valve (some models) buzzes when ice maker
fillswith water. This occurs whetheror not refrigerator
is connected to water supply. If refrigerator is not
connected to water supply, stop sound by raising ice
maker arm to off position. (Not shown)
Foaminsulation is very energy efficientandhas
excellentinsulatingcapabilities.However,foam
insulation is not as sound absorbent as
previously used fiberglass insulation. (Not shown)

Before Calling For Service
Refrigeratordoesnot operate.
• Confirm Deepfreeze®controlison.
• Confirmrefrigeratorispluggedin.
• Check fuse or circuit breaker. Plug in another item at
that wall outlet.
• Wait 40 minutes to see if refrigerator restarts. If
Deepfreeze®control is on, lights work but 2 fans and
compressorarenotoperating,refrigeratormay be in
defrost cycle.
Refrigeratorstillwon’t operate.
• Unplugrefrigerator.Transfer food to another unit
orplacedryicein Deepfreeze®section to preserve
food. Warranty does not cover food loss. Check

inserted into proper holes.
• Check for kinks in copper or plastic tubing. Remove
kinks or replace tubing.
• Checkelectrical connections to water valvecoiland
connectorblock on refrigerator cabinet.
• Confirm Deepfreeze®sectionisoperatingatproper
temperature.
Icecubeshaveanodor.
• See“OdorRemoval” instructions in “Care and
Cleaning” section.
• Discard ice and clean ice bucket or trays more
frequently. Ice cubes are porous and absorb odors
easily.
Ice cubes stick together or ‘shrink’.
• Emptyice cube bucketor trays morefrequently. If
used infrequently, ice cubes may stick together or
shrink.
Ice forms in inlet tube to ice maker.
• Check water pressure. Low water pressure will

1. Enlever et inverser les portes si nécessaire.
Attention
Pourévitertous dégâts matériels, recouvrir les
planchersen vinyle ou autre typedeplancher
avecdu carton, destapis ou autrematériel de
protectionavantdedéplacer le réfrigérateur.
g. Glisserle chariot servant à transporter l’appareil
souslecôté du réfrigérateur. Recouvrir le
réfrigérateuravecuncoussinouunecouverture.
Enfilerla courroie du chariot autourduréfrigérateur
et serrer. Ne pas trop serrer la courroie. Déplacer le
réfrigérateurdevantl’endroitdésiré.
h. Inverserles portes si nécessaire.

1/8" (3 mm) plus élevé que le côté de la charnière.

2. Raccorder l’appareil à glaçons au tuyau
d’alimentation en eau.
