2. Technical Product Description
The Ambient Power Slot is an accessory to the ARRI AMIRA camera and replaces the standard battery
mounting plate with quick and easy mounting due to spring loaded contact array and tapered
mounting studs.
Depending on model it will provide power through a V-Mount or Anton Bauer Gold-Mount battery. The
internal back up cell allows for hot-swap of the primary battery providing up to 30 seconds backup
time. Charging of the cell occurs fully automatically in the background with attached battery
maintaining sufficient time for a battery change in all conditions.
Additionally, the unit features a 25-pin D-Sub Unislot interface to host a compatible slot-in radio
receiver. The audio signal is made available through a 5-pin mini XLR QG connector to connect to the
external inputs of the camera. Being pin compatible with Sound Devices’ SuperSlot ™ standard, this
allows for audio transmission of up to 4 audio channels.
3. Advise For Safe Operation
The maximum power allowed to draw from the back up circuitry is 100W. Do NEVER power up the
camera with no primary battery attached. Before hot-swapping a battery always disconnect or power
down external peripherals such as camera light etc. As the accessory D-TAP power outlet will
automatically be switched off when removing the battery it is recommended to supply this kind of
equipment through this connector to additionally avoid damage to the electronics. Accessories with
lower power consumption up to 500mW can be kept operational through a battery swap. This also
holds true for the slot-in receiver to maintain audio recording through a battery change.
The Ambient PowerSlot is designed as integral part of the camera
and never must be (dis-) attached with battery attached or
operated stand-alone.
On every camera use proper seating must be checked.
When un-mounting for separated transport or shelf stocking
always watch for constant and proof insulation of the spring-
loaded pins. In particular, never lay on metal surfaces or store in
metal compartments. Discharging the back-up cell on short will
damage the unit and cause fire or explosions.
The 3 LEDs on the side provide monitor control over operating
status and condition of the internal back-up cell.

6. Mounting Instructions
When mounting, the camera must be powered down and disconnected from any accessories,
especially power sources. The slot must NOT be loaded with battery and receiver.
Fully insert the 3 M3 centering stand-offs into the threaded holes on the back of the camera and then
release again for half of a turn to give them the required slack.
Slide the Power Slot onto the pins and secure in place with the hex grub-screws accessible from the
side. It is recommended to apply elastic thread lock to grub screws as well as stand-offs to maintain
safe seating.
