Using Your Speakerphone
A speakerphonegives you the freedomto use your telephone
without lifting thehandset.After initial contactis made,youcan
carry on a telephoneconversationandstill be freeto do other
things.Whenevertheinstructions“Lift thehandsettotalk” appear
in this guide,theymay beignoredif you haveaspeakerphone.
During thecourseof aconversationyou canalwaysswitchfrom
thespeakerphoneto thehandsetfor privacy.To do this,just lift
the handsetandtalk. To returnto speakerphoneuse,pressthe
SPKR buttonandhangupthehandset.
To manuallyplaceacall usingyourspeakerphone:
1. Presstheline buttonor the0
ITCMbutton.
2. Dial thenumber.
3. Whenpartyanswers,talk.

To autodial using your speakerphone,just pressthe
programmedbuttonandtalk whenyourpartyanswers. I
To answeracall with yourspeakerphone:
1. Presstheline buttonwith flashingredlight.
2. Whenpartyanswers,talk.
To endacall with your speakerphone,just press

SPKA.

What the Lights Mean
The lights on your telephonelet you know the statusof lines,
featuresandtheintercom.
Next to a DSS/BLF button:
Steadyred= stationis in use.
Flashingred= stationis receivingacall.
Fastflashingred= station-to-stationmessaginghasbeenset.
Next to a line button:
Steadygreen= this is your line, either on-hookor off-hook,
whentheline is active.
Flashinggreen= yourline is onhold.
Fasterflashinggreen= yourline hasbeenrecalledfrom hold.
Steadyred= anotherstationis usingthisline.
Flashingred= acall is coming in onthis line.
Fasterflashingred= thecallhas
been
placedonholdbyanother
station.
Next to a feature button:
Steadyred= thefeatureis on.
Light off = thefeatureis off.
Next to an intercom button:
Steadyredwith aquick flash= you areusingyourintercom.
Fastflashing red= auto-redialis in use.
Fastflashingredwith repeatedoff periods= night modeis on.
Steadyflashingred= anLCD messageis setonyourtelephone.
What the Rings Mean
Two shortrings= intercomcall.
Singlelongerring = outsidecall.
Oneshorttoneburst= voice announce.
Threeshorttonebursts= ringbackfrom aheldcall, callbackfrom
aqueuedcall.
You canvary the ringingtoneof your telephone,choosingfrom
oneof four differentrings.This way,you canidentify your ring
eventhoughyoumay notbecloseto yourtelephone.
Additionally, soyou won’t be disturbedwhenyou’re busy on a
call and anothercall rings at your station, the ring volume is
subduedautomatically.

Outside Calls
To answer,
l Pressbuttonof ringingline (flashingredlight).
l Lift handsetto talk.
NOTE: Pressing a button is not necessary if:
* Your ringing line is your prime line, or
. Your telephone has ringing line preference.
Intercom Calls
To answeravoice call,
l Speaktowardthetelephone.
* Lift handsetif privacy is desired.
NOTE: Voice calls can be blocked. See the discussion titled Voice An-
nounce Blocking for details.

SecureOff-Hook VoiceAnnounce
Your.telephonecanbe setup for SecureOff-Hook Voice An-
nounce(SOHVA).
This featureallows anintercomcallerto breakinto your outside
call with anannouncementthroughyourhandsetreceiver.
A SecureOff-Hook VoiceAnnounceconsistsofbothseveralshort
tone burstsand an announcementin the handsetreceiver.The
distantpartycannotheartheannouncement.To respond
0 Verbally: Pressandhold MUTE buttondown andreply
by speaking into handset. Distant party cannot hear
response.
* Non-verbally: If the announcingstation has an LCD
speakerphone, pressing a preprogrammed message
responseLiuttoncausesamessageto appearin their dis-
play anddisconnectstheannouncingstation.

Station Monitoring
If your stationis setupfor stationmonitoring,whenaBLF light
flashes(indicating stationringing), you canpick up the call by
pressingtheDSSbutton.
However,afteryou answerthecall andeitherputit onHOLD or
beginto transferit, theDSSlight will goout.

Automatic Callback
If theintercom stationyouhavecalledis busy,you canqueueto
thebusytelephone.
1. Dial & @ whenyouhearabusysignal.
2. Hang up. Your telephonewill ring with five short tone
burstswhentheoneyou calledbecomesidle.
3. After you lift the handset,the telephoneyou called will
ring.If youdon’tlift thehandset,thecallbackis cancelled.
To cancelautomaticcallbackbeforeit rings:
1. Press@a@.
2. Hangup.
Automatic Dialing (Autodial)
This is one-or two-buttondialing using programmablebuttons
otherthankeypadbuttons.
To automaticallydial numbers,

If buttonis programmedonsecondlevel (underDSSbutton),

HOLDandthenpressDSS button.
SpeedDialing
Speeddialing is autodialingusing the keypadbuttons.Station
numbersarepersonalnumbers,i.e., businessassociates,travel
agencies,etc.,that areusedonly by you. System numbersare
public numbers,i.e., the corporateoffice, the companylawyer,
etc.,that areaccessedfrom everystation.
Make sureeveryonein your grouphasalist of thesystemspeed
dialnumbers.
