Using Your Speakerphone
A speakerphonegives you the freedomto useyour telephone
withoutlifting thehandset.After initial contactis made,youcan
carry on a telephoneconversationandstill be free to do other
things.Whenevertheinstructions“Lift thehandsettotalk” appear
in this guide,theymaybeignoredif youhaveaspeakerphone.
During thecourseof aconversationyoucanalwaysswitchfrom
the speakerphoneto thehandsetfor privacy. To do this,just lift
the handsetand talk. To returnto speakerphoneuse,pressthe
SPKR buttonandhangup thehandset.
To manually placeacall usingyour speakerphone:
1. Presstheline buttonor the 0
ITCMbutton.
2.
Dial thenumber.

Whenpartyanswers,talk.

To autodial using your speakerphone,just pressthe
programmedbuttonandtalk whenyourparty answers. I
To answeracall with your speakerphone:
1. Presstheline buttonwith flashingredlight.

To endacall with your speakerphone,just press

SPKR.

What the -Lights Mean.
The lights on your telephonelet you know the statusof lines,
featuresandtheintercom.
Next to a DSS/BLF button:
Steadyred= stationis in use.
Flashingred= stationis receivingacall.
Fastflashingred= station-to-stationmessaginghasbeenset.
Next to a line button:
Steadygreen= this is your line, eitheron-hookor off-hook,
whentheline is active.
Flashinggreen= yourline is onhold.
Fasterflashinggreen= your line hasbeenrecalledfrom hold.
Steadyred= anotherstationis usingthis line.
Flashingred= acall is comingin onthisline.
Fasterflashingred= thecallhasbeenplacedonholdby another
station.
Next to a feature button:
Steadyred= thefeatureis on.
Light off = thefeatureis off.
Next to an intercom button:
Steadyredwith aquick flash= you areusingyourintercom.
Fastflashingred= auto-redialis in use.
Fast.flashingredwith repeatedoff periods= night modeis on.
Steadyflashingred= anLCD messageis setonyourtelephone.
What the Rings Mean
Two shortrings= intercomcall.
Singlelongerring= outsidecall.
Oneshorttoneburst= voice announce.
Threeshorttonebursts= ringbackfrom aheldcall,callbackfrom
aqueuedcall.
You canvary theringing toneof yourtelephone,choosingfrom
oneof fourdifferent rings.This way,you canidentify your ring
eventhoughyoumay notbecloseto yourtelephone.
Additionally, soyou won’t bedisturbedwhen you’re busyon a
call and anothercall rings at your station, the ring volume is
subduedautomatically.

Night Transfer

SecureOff-Hook VoiceAnnounce
Your telephonecanbe setup for SecureOff-Hook Voice An-
nounce(SOHVA).
This featureallows anintercomcallerto breakinto your outside
call with anannouncementthroughyourhandsetreceiver.
A SecureOff-Hook VoiceAnnounceconsistsof bothseveralshort
tone bursts andan announcementin the handsetreceiver.The
distantpartycannotheartheannouncement.To respond
O Verbally: PressandholdMUTE buttondown andreply
by speaking into handset. Distant party cannothear
response.
* Non-verbally: If the announcingstation has an LCD
speakerphone, pressing a preprogrammed message
responsebuttoncausesamessageto appearin their dis-
play anddisconnectstheannouncingstation.

If your stationis setup for stationmonitoring,whenaBLF light
flashes(indicating stationringing), you canpick up the call by
pressingtheDSSbutton.
However,afteryou answerthecall andeitherput it onHOLD or
beginto transferit, theDSS light will goout.

NOTE: Selecting a line is not necessary if a prime line has been as-
signed to your telephone.
For automaticdialing, just presstheprogrammedbut-
ton andlift handsetto talk.

* Make announcement.When you heara busy tone,this
meansthestationis onthespeakerphoneandyou cannot
makeanannouncement.The personyou arecalling will,
however,heararing from histelephone.
l Wait on line for reply. If announcingfrom an LCD
speakerphone,called stationmay sendnon-verbalreply
for display. As responseis displayed,the announcing
stationisdisconnected.
NOTE:.The caller cannot control how the announcement is received.
This depends upon the equipment used and class
of service
programming.

Automatic Callback
If theintercomstationyouhavecalledis busy,you canqueueto
thebusytelephone.

Hang up. Your telephonewill ring with five short tone
burstswhentheoneyoucalledbecomesidle.
After you lift the handset,the telephoneyou called will
ring.If youdon’t lift thehandset,thecallbackis cancelled.
To cancelautomaticcallbackbeforeit rings:
1. Press@a@.
2. Hangup.
Automatic Dialing (Autodial)
This is one-or two-buttondialing usingprogrammablebuttons
otherthankeypadbuttons.
To automaticallydial numbers,
l Pressbuttonprogrammedfor desirednumber.
If buttonis programmedonsecondlevel (underDSSbutton),
l Press

HOLDandthenpressDSSbutton.
Automatic Redialing (Auto-Redial)
If thelastnumberyouhavecalledis busyoris notanswering,use
this feature.Onceactivated,it automaticallyredialsthenumber
onceaminutefor 10minutes.
To activate automaticredial,
l Pressbuttonprogrammedfor thatpurpose(thatyouhave
labeled“auto-redial”).
l Number will bedialedonceaminute for 10minutes.

SpeedDialing
Speeddialing is autodialingusing the keypadbuttons.Station
numbersarepersonalnumbers,i.e., businessassociates,travel
agencies,etc., that areusedonly by you. System numbersare
public numbers,i.e., the corporateoffice, the companylawyer,
etc.,thatareaccessedfrom everystation.
Make sureyouhavealist of the systemspeeddial numbers.
To speeddial station numbersif on-hook,

Dial the keypad number (0 through 9) you have
programmedinto yourtelephone.
