operating instructions. If in doubt, contact Land Instruments International.
Storage
The instrument should be stored in its packaging, in a dry sheltered area.
Unpacking
Check all packages for external signs of damage. Check the contents against the packing note.
Lifting Instructions
Where items are too heavy to be lifted manually, use suitably rated lifting equipment. Refer to the
Technical Specication for weights. All lifting should be done as stated in local regulations.

Return of Damaged Goods
IMPORTANT If any item has been damaged in transit, this should be reported to the carrier and to the
supplier immediately. Damage caused in transit is the responsibility of the carrier not the supplier.
DO NOT RETURN a damaged instrument to the sender as the carrier will not then consider a claim. Save
the packing with the damaged article for inspection by the carrier.
Return of Goods for Repair
If you need to return goods for repair please contact our Customer Service Department. They will be able
to advise you on the correct returns procedure.
Any item returned to Land Instruments International should be adequately packaged to prevent damage
during transit.
You must include a written report of the problem together with your own name and contact information,
address, telephone number, email address etc.
Design and Manufacturing Standards
The Quality Management System of Land Instruments International is approved to BS EN ISO 9001 for
the design, manufacture and on-site servicing of combustion, environmental monitoring and non-contact
temperature measuring instrumentation.
Approvals apply in the USA
Operation of radio transmitters, telephones or other electrical/electronic devices in close proximity
to the equipment while the enclosure doors of the instrument or its peripherals are open, may cause
interference and possible failure where the radiated emissions exceed the EMC directive.
The protection provided by this product may be invalidated if alterations or additions are made to the
structural, electrical, mechanical or pneumatic parts of this system. Such changes may also invalidate the
standard terms of warranty.

1 Introduction
This document provides installation details for the range of mountings and
accessories for Landscan LSP-HD Scanners.
Note
The equipment must be used, maintained and serviced by properly
trained personnel, capable of following the procedures given in these
instructions. Safety may be impaired if the system is not used as
indicated.
It is important to check the equipment with which you have been supplied and
then read these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with operation.

2 System Overview

then read these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with operation.
The Landscan mounting accessories comprise:

2.1 LSP-HD Cable assembly
Note
When mounting an LSP-HD scanner in either the Floatline Housing, Light
Steel Mounting or Heavy Steel Mounting, you must disassemble and
remove the L-shaped connector from the LSP-HD cable, thread the cable
through the cable gland on the mounting and re-assemble the connector.
There are two types of connector used with LSP-HD:
• Phoenix Connector (See Section 2.1.1)
• Binder Connector (See Section 2.1.2)
2.1.1 Phoenix Connector disassembly
1) Unscrew the bezel that grips the outer sheath of
the cable.
2) Slide the bezel back along the length of the ca-
ble a little.

3) Unscrew the innermost knurled ring
from the main body of the connector.
4) Slide the main body of the connector
down the length of the cable a little.
5) Note down the wiring schedule of the
four conductors, then using a small
atobjectsuchasascrewdriver,
prise up the securing mechanism
to release the conductors from the
connector.
6) Remove the connector from the cable
including both the connector main
body and the bezel that grips the
outer sheath.
7) Thread enough cable through the
relevant cable gland in the LSP-HD
mounting hardware and re-assemble
the connector on the other side of
the cable gland by working through
steps 1-6 in reverse order.

2.1.2 Binder Connector disassembly
1) Unscrew the threaded clamp ring
which holds the cable and terminal
block in the main body of the
connector.
2) Unscrew the inner metal clamp ring
and slide the plastic clamp and inner
rubber washer along the cable.
Remove the lid of the connector
shell. Make sure that you retain the
thinrubbersealforretting.
2) The four wires in the end terminal block are in two twisted pairs: A Black/
White pair and a Black/Red pair.
Unscrew the terminals to disconnect the wires, making sure that you retain
them in the correct twisted pair.
3) Remove the connector shell, clamp rings, washers etc. from the cable and
pass the free end of the cable through the cable gland on your mounting
accessory.

When re-assembling the connector,
make sure that the terminals are
orientated so that the locating notch
in the connector is in the position
shown in the illustrations.
6) Reposition the lid of the connector shell, ensuring the thin rubber seal is
seated correctly on the lid.
7) Tighten both of the metal threaded metal clamp rings onto the connector
body to complete the re-assembly.

4 Maintenance
Warning
The safe operation of the service panel is only guaranteed when

The body of the accessories and mountings can be cleaned by wiping with a
clean cloth moistened with either water or a mild, neutral detergent.
DO NOT use alcohol, chemicals or abrasive cleaning products.
Hosesandpipesshouldalsobecheckedforleaks,cracks,changandother
wear and tear.
