1. De Amino aansluiten
Het is verstandig eerst alle betrokken apparaten uit te zetten en uit het
stopcontact te trekken.
a. Aansluiten input
De Amino ontvangt het IPTV-signaal over campusnet. Steek dus
een UTP-kabel in de “Digital TV input” en zorg dat de andere kant
via een switch aan campusnet hangt.
b. Aansluiten TV-video
Dit is afhankelijk van de aanstluiting(en) van je TV. Hieronder een
lijst per aansluiting op je TV. De lijst is gesorteerd op
beeldkwaliteit, van hoog naar laag.
Heeft je TV een HDMI- of DVI-aansluiting, dan kun je hem
aanstluiten op de “HDMI-output” van de Amino. Een HDMI-
kabel is meegeleverd, een HDMI-naar-DVI-kabel kun je
eventueel bij ons opgvragen.
Component video kan worden aangesloten met de
meegeleverde kabel op de “A/V out”-uitgang van de Amino.
Een SCART-kabel kun je eventueel bij ons opvragen.
Composiet kan worden aangesloten met de meegeleverde
kabel op de “A/V out”-uitgang van de Amino.
Een coax-kabel kan worden aangesloten op de “RF antenna
output” van de Amino.
c. Aansluiten TV-audio
Er zijn drie mogelijkheden:
Heb je via HDMI of coax aangesloten dan wordt je geluid ook
meteen doorgegeven. Als je een HDMI-naar-DVI-kabel
gebruikt is dit dus niet het geval.
Heb je een versterker met surroundgeluid dan kun je die
aansluiten op de “digital audio output”.
In alle andere gevallen moet je je geluid analoog aansluiten
via de meegeleverde kabel op de “A/V out”-uitgang van de
Amino.
d. Elektriciteit aansluiten
Tenslotte moet de Amino op de “Power input” met de adapter op
het lichtnet worden aangesloten.

2. Starten en configureren
Zet je TV aan en start de Amino met de “STB/DVD power”-knop. Een rood
lampje gaat branden op de Amino. Wacht geduldig tot je beeld krijgt.
Druk nu op de “STB”-knop vlak onder de powerknop. Op deze manier zorg
je dat de afstandbediening de settop box bedient.
2.1 Configureren beeld
Er kunnen enkele configuraties worden gedaan met betrekking tot de
beeldkwalitet. Dit gaat als volgt:
a. Druk op de “Menu”-knop, in de afbeelding aangegeven als “Home”.
b. Een menu verschijnt waarin kan worden genavigeerd met de
pijlknoppen. De derde van links zijn de “Settings”, ga daar naartoe
en druk op OK.
c. Een submenu verschijnt met de mogelijkheden “Aspect Ratio”,
“Output Resolution”, “Video Output” en “Standard”.
Aspect Ratio
Hier kun je de beeldverhouding van je televisie instellen.
“Widescreen” is uiteraard voor een breedbeeld-TV, 4:3 is voor
de oudere TV’s.
Output Resolution
Hier stel je de resolutie in van het beeld dat de Amino aan je TV
geeft. Voor oude TV’s volstaat “Standard”. Welke HD-resolutie
je kunt instellen is afhankelijk van je TV. Is je TV HD-ready dan
kun je sowieso de “HD 720p” aan, is je TV full HD dan kun je de
“HD 1080i” gebruiken. Stel de Amino niet in op een HD-
resolutie als je televisie dat niet aankan. Het menu kan
hierdoor onbruikbaar worden. Neem dan contact op met de
VCK.
Video Output
Hier staan “RGB”, “Svideo” en “YPbPr”. Heb je via component
video aangesloten, dan moet je dit op “YPbPr” zetten. Heb je
niet via component video aangesloten dan heeft deze instelling
geen effect.
Standard
Hier kan worden gekozen uit “PAL” en “NSTC”. PAL is de
standaard in Europa en geeft een signaal met een frequentie
van 50 Hz. NSTC stuurt een signaal met 60 Hz. Dit zou een beter
beeld kunnen geven als je bijvoorbeeld een pc-monitor
gebruikt. Deze instelling is ook een kwestie van proberen of iets
er beter uit ziet.
d. Je kunt het menu weer uit komen door op “Back” te drukken.

2.2 Configureren geluid
De settop box ondersteund het aanpassen van het geluidsniveau. Vóór je
deze feature kunt gebruiken dien je dit te activeren door een code in te
voeren. Dit gaat als volgt:
Zorg dat de afstandbediening op STB-modus staat door eenmaal
op “STB” te drukken;
houd de “STB”-knop in gedrukt tot hij gaat knipperen;
druk nu achtereenvolgens op 9, 9, 3, “Volume omlaag”.
Nu kun je de volumeknoppen gebruiken om de Amino het volume te laten
regelen.

3. Functies
a. Televisiegids
Als je op de “Guide”-knop drukt vind je een televisiegids. Je kunt
hier navigeren met de pijltoetsen. Met het rode en blauwe knopje
kun je meteen naar een volgende of vorige pagina gaan.
b. Teletekst
Om teletekst te openen druk je op de play-knop op je
afstandbediening (bij de “Video playback controls”). Met de
nummers kun je nu pagina’s openen. Druk op vooruitspoelen om
teletekst doorzichtig te maken en druk op terugspoelen om het te
sluiten.
c. Kanaalinfo
Door op “info” te drukken open je de kanaalinfo. Druk je
nogmaals op info dan zie je uitgebreide kanaalinfo. Een derde
keer drukken sluit de kanaalinfo.
d. Ondertitels
Als op de knop “Titles” wordt gedrukt worden ondertitels van
teletekst weergegeven, mits die beschikbaar zijn.
e. Audiospoor
Sommige kanalen ondersteunen verschillende audiosporen. Druk
op de rode knop tijdens het kijken om een audiospoor te kiezen.
f. Radio
De radiofunctionaliteit van de Amino kan worden bereikt vanuit
het menu door te kiezen voor de knop met het poppetje met
koptelefoon.

1. Connecting the Amino
It is wise to switch off any devices used in this installation process and
disconnect them from the power source.
a. Connecting the input
Since the Amino receives its IPTV-signal from campusnet (your
internet connection), connect a UTP cable to the “Digital TV
input” and make sure the other end of the cable is connected to
campusnet via a switch.
b. Connecting the TV video
What you need to connect depends on the connection(s) of your
TV. What follows is a list of different connection types, sorted by
quality, best first.
If your TV has an HDMI or DVI connection, you need to
connect it to the “HDMI-output” of the Amino. An HDMI
cable is provided with the box. If you need an HDMI to DVI
cable you can get it from us.
Component video can be connected using the provided cable
and the “A/V out” output of the Amino. If you need a SCART
cable you can get it from us.
Composite can be connected using the provided cable and
the “A/V out” output of the Amino.
A coax cable can be connected to the “RF antenna output” of
the Amino.
c. Connecting the TV audio
There are 3 possibilities:
If you connected your TV using HDMI or coax, your TV already
receives sound. If you used an HDMI to DVI cable, it doesn’t!
If you own an amplifier featuring surround sound, you can
connect it using the “digital audio output” of the Amino.
In all other cases you need to connect to the “A/V out”
output of the Amino using the provided cable to receive
sound.
d. Connecting power
Finally you need to plug in the Amino using the provided cable
and the “Power input” on the Amino.

2. Starting and configuring the device
Turn on your TV and start the Amino using the “STB/DVD power” button
on the remote control. A red light will start burning on the Amino. Wait
patiently until you receive signal on your TV. Now push the “STB” button
right below the power button on your remote. This makes the remote
control control the Amino.
2.1 Configuring video
There are some configuration options. To access these options:
a. Push the “Menu” button on the remote. On the picture on page 4
this button is referred to as “Home”.
b. A menu appears which can be navigated through using the arrow
buttons on the remote. The third from the left are the settings.
Navigate there and press OK.
c. A submenu appears with the options “Aspect Ratio”, “Output
Resolution”, “Video Output” and “Standard”.
Aspect Ratio
Here you can adjust the aspect ratio of the video output of
the Amino. “Widescreen” is obviously used if you own a
widescreen TV, 4:3 is the standard ratio of older TV’s.
Output Resolution
Here you can adjust the output video resolution of the
Amino. For older TV’s you can use “standard” Which HD
resolution you can use depends on your TV. If you own a TV
with the label “HD ready”, you can choose the “HD 720p”. If
your TV is labelled “Full HD”, choose “HD 1080i”. Don’t
switch to an HD resolution if your TV can’t handle this. The
menu can disappear. Contact VCK if you encounter this.
Video Output
Here you see “RGB”, “Svideo” and “YPbPr”. If you connected
using component video, you need to set this to “YPbPr”. In
any other case this setting has no effects.
Standard
Here you can choose between “PAL” and “NTSC”. PAL is the
Europe standard and provides signal with a frequency of 50
Hz. NTSC sends a signal on 60 Hz. If you use a pc monitor this
might give you better picture. You can freely try these
settings and see which suits you best.
d. You can exit the menu by pressing “Back” on the remote.

2.2 Configuring audio
The set top box features setting the audio volume. To use this feature you
first need to activate it by entering a code using the remote. The procedure
is as follows:
Make sure the remote is in STB mode by pressing the “STB” button
one time;
Now press the STB button again and hold it until it flashes.
Now press these buttons one by one: “9” “9” “3” “volume down”.
Now you should be able to adjust the audio volume of the Amino using the
remote control.

3. Features
a. TV guide
Access the TV guide by pressing the “Guide” button. You can
navigate using the arrow keys. You can jump to the next or
previous page by pressing the blue or red button.
b. Teletekst
Teletekst is a quickly updated Dutch digital newspaper provided
via the television signal. It can be accessed by pressing the play
button on the remote (in the “Video playback controls” area). By
pressing numbers on the remote you can access different pages.
Press the fast forward button to make teletekst transparent and
press the reverse button to close teletekst.
c. Channel info
By pressing “info” you open the channel information. Press it
again to see even more information. Pressing it for the third time
closes the info box.
d. Subtitles
Pressing the “Titles” button displays subtitles from teletekst, if
available.
e. Audio Track
Some channels support different audio tracks. To change the
audio track, press the red button while watching TV.
f. Radio
From the menu you can access the radio functionality by pressing
the button displaying the person with headphones.
