Front panel
1. FX INPUT: Connect the FX INPUT jack of the 221 to the input of your effect unit, whether it is a sing e unit ike a de ay peda , a chain of
peda s or rack units or another audio ooper. This is exact y ike you wou d connect it to your amp's FX Loop Send. When switching between
amps, the 221 automatica y switches your effects to the current y se ected amp.
2. FX OUTPUT: Connect the FX OUTPUT jack of the 221 to the output of your effect unit, whether it is a sing e unit ike a de ay peda , a chain of
peda s or rack units or another audio ooper. This is exact y ike you wou d connect it to your amp's FX Loop Return. When switching between
amps, the 221 automatica y switches your effects to the current y se ected amp.
3. INPUT: Instrument input, which routes the instrument signa to your connected amp ifier inputs via a high to ow impedance buffer amp ifier,
for keeping the signa c ean and noise ess without co ouring it.
4. AMP INPUTS AMP1: AMP1 output is grounded. Connect the instrument input of your amp 1 here. This is the most sensitive connection
setting up the 221, make sure to use high qua ity instrument cab es.
5. AMP INPUTS AMP2: Connect the instrument input of your amp 2 here. Be aware that the AMP2 is an ungrounded output, thus it causes a
humm if AMP1 is not connected. This is the most sensitive connection setting up the 221, make sure to use high qua ity instrument cab es.
6. FOOTSWITCH: Connect any standard Tip to Ground Footswitch to switch between the amps.
7. SE ECT AMP1 AMP2: Se ect between AMP1 (green LED) and AMP2 (red LED).
Note: This switch is deactivated when a footswitch is connected to the unit.
Rear panel
1. FX OOPS AMP2 RET.: Connect the FX Loop Return/power amp in/ ine in of amp ifier 2 to the FX LOOPS AMP2 RETURN of the 221. P ease be
aware that this is not an independent oop but the corresponding FX oop of the amp ifier you drive with the AMP INPUTs AMP2 and AMP
OUTPUTs AMP2 jacks of the 221!
2. FX OOPS AMP2 SEND: Connect the FX Loop Send/preamp out/ ine out of amp ifier 2 to the FX LOOPS AMP2 SEND jack of the 221. Like
before mentioned, this is not an independent oop but the corresponding FX oop of the amp ifier you drive with the AMP INPUT 2 and AMP
OUTPUT 2 jacks of the 221!
3. FX OOPS AMP1 RET.: Proceed ike described under point 1.
4. FX OOPS AMP1 SEND: Proceed ike described under point 2.
5. AMP OUTPUTS AMP2: Connect the oudspeaker/cabinet/amp output of amp ifier 2 here. This is NOT an independent output but it
corresponds to the number of the AMP INPUTS AMP2 and the AMP2 SEND and RETURN jacks of the 221. Use speaker cables only!
6. AMP OUTPUTS AMP1: Connect the oudspeaker/cabinet/amp output of amp ifier 1 here. This is NOT an independent output but it
corresponds to the number of the AMP INPUTS AMP1 and the AMP1 SEND and RETURN jacks of the 221. Use speaker cables only!
7. CABINET: Connect your speaker cabinet here. No matter which cabinet you choose, from 1x12“ to 4x12“ with every impedance everything is
possib e, but consider not to exceed the power hand ing of the speaker cabinet to avoid any damage to the speakers and/or the amp ifier. Use
speaker cables only!
8. DC IN 9V: Connect the provided 9V/500mA Power supp y for powering the 221. The power supp y inc uded in de ivery is verified for best
performance and can be used in most countries providing 90VAC to 240 VAC ine vo tage.
Position
Position the 221 on top of your amp ifier to achieve short cab e runs and to avoid accidenta disconnection of any cab es. We
recommend to use co or coded cab e snakes to avoid cab e mess and connection fai ures.

FX oops
The FX oop option of the 221 a ows to run one sing e effect unit or even a comp ex FX rig to both of the FX oops of your connected
amp ifiers. That way you are not in need of 2 independent effect units for severa amp ifiers. Here it sure y does not matter if you run a
sing e or a chain of effect units for instance connected to a further audio ooper unit.
The FX INPUT / OUTPUT jacks are connected to the actua se ected amp ifiers FX Loop Send/Return.
When switching between amp ifiers, the 221 switches the FX INPUT / OUTPUT jacks to the se ected amp's FX Loop at the same time.
Amplifiers without FX oop
There are many especia y c assic amps ike Fender Brown-, B ack-, Si verfaces, Vox ACs or Marsha P exis, JMPs, JCM800s, but a so
many newer amps in the tradition of those not featuring any kind of insert between pre- and poweramp such as an FX oop.
The 221 gives you the option of sharing a sing e FX unit or a comp ex effect rig not on y with any of your FX oop equipped amp, but
a so with those c assic sty e amps not featuring an FX oop.
A you need to do is connect the AMP1 or AMP2 SEND and RET. in front of the amp!!!
This is simp y done by patching a short cab e from the AMP INPUTs AMP1 or AMP2 to the corresponding AMP1 or AMP2 SEND. Next
connect the RETURN of that FX oop to the ampf ifiers input.
Now you can assign the 221s FX oop (FX INPUT and FX OUTPUT) both in front of your amp without FX oop or in between pre- and
poweramp of your amp with FX oop.
