Getting started with your Amulet remote
ThischapterwillintroduceyourAmuletremoteandallowyou
togetgoingstraight‐away.
Installing your Amulet Voice Remote.
You will find an Installation Guide and Getting Started guide in the shipping box. The details within the
Installation guide and quick start guides are reiterated here for reference. If you have already installed and
run through the getting started guide you may want to skip this section of the guide.

4. Link the Media Center to the Remote
Toallowyoutousevoicecommands,theremoteis
linkedtotheMediaCenterthroughtheUSBdongle.
ThedonglecanbepluggedintoanyfreeUSBport.
Whenyoupluginthedongleitwillberecognisedasa
newaudiodevice.Thereisnoneedtoinstalldriversin
advance.
Youcanchecktheconnectionbetweentheremoteand
theUSBdonglebytiltingtheremoteverticallyasif
speakingintoamicrophone.Whenthelinkisactivethe
logowillgosolidredandtheUSBdonglewilldisplaya
solidlight.Ifyouexperienceanyissuesrefertothe
Troubleshootingsectionofthisguide.
3. Putting the Remote On Charge
Thebatteryshippedwiththeremoteispartially
chargedsothatyoucanuseyourremoterightaway.
Note:
Whilenotnecessary,ifyouwanttochargeyour
remotebeforeuse,removetherubbercoveronthe
bottomendandplugthesmallendofthecharging
cableintotheconnector.Plugtheotherendofthe
cableintoanyspareUSBportonyourMediaCenter.A
FLASHINGGREENlogoatthetopoftheremotemeans
thatitischarging.ThelogochangestoSOLIDGREEN
whenfullycharged.

Afterinstallationisfinished,ademonstrationvideoplays
toshowyousomeofthewaysyoucanuseyourVoice
Remote.Whilethevideoisplaying,Amuletperformsa
quickinitialscanofyourmedia.(Afullscancontinuesin
thebackground,andmaytakeuptoanhourto
complete.)
Whenthevideoisover,MediaCenterwillrestart.Soon
afterwards,youwillhearthemessage“Welcometo
Amulet".ThismeansAmuletisreadytorespondtoyour
voicecommands.
5a. Install the Software
Toallowspokencommandstoberecognisedwithin
WindowsMediaCenteryoumustinstallthesoftware
fromtheCD.BeforeinstallingtheCDcloseWindows
MediaCenterifitisrunning.Tobegininstallingthe
software,inserttheCD.
TheCDwillautomaticallystartandpromptyoutorun
Setup.ClickontheSetupicontobegininstallation.Ifthis
doesnothappenrunSetup.exefromtheCD.Thesoftware
supportsboth32‐bitand64‐bitversionsofWindows;
Setupwillselectthecorrectversion.Ifyouseea
requesteraskingifyouwanttoallowthesoftwareto
makechangestoyourcomputer,clickYes.

First Switch On
Innormaluse,theAmuletVoiceRemotebehaveslikeastandardremote.Whenyouliftituptoyourmouthtospeak
intoit,however,themicrophoneturnson,indicatedbythelogoatthetopoftheremotelightingsolidred.Ifyou
movebeyondtherangeoftheremote’sabilitytotransmitvoicecommands,thelogoshowsFlashingRedwhen
elevated.YouwillthenneedtomoveclosertotheMediaCenter.
Ifyouliftupyourremotetospeakintoitandthelogolightsup,youcantalktotheMediaCenter.Whenyouare
finishedspeakingcommands,simplylowertheremote.
WhenMediaCenterstarts,theAmuletsoftwareloadsautomatically.Onceyouhearthe"WelcometoAmulet"voice
prompt,Amuletisreadyandwaitingforyourcommands.
Ausefulspeechcommandtocheckthateverythingisworkingcorrectlyis:"WHATTIMEISIT?".Ifyouhearaspoken
response,theneverythingisworkingcorrectly.Theinstallationvideowillhavegivenyousomeinsightintotheuseof
yourVoiceRemote.
RememberthatwhiletheAmuletremoteallowsyoutodomostthingsviavoice,theremoteisdesignedtoallowyoutodo
thingsviavoiceorthebuttonsontheremote.Somethingssuchasvolumeadjustmentmayfeelmorenaturaltodoviathe
buttonsbutcanalsobedoneviavoice.OtherthingssuchasselectinganartistorTVchannelarenaturaloperationsforthe
powerofvoice.
Tips for using the remote
•Waituntilthelogolights solidred beforespeaking.
•Hold the remote 6-8 inches fromyour mouth.
•Lower the remotebetween commands.
•Speak clearly and distinctly to allow thesoftware to learnyour voice.
•WatchthemicrophoneleveldisplayedonAmuletscreensto ensure you are being heard.
•Usetherecognitionindicator onAmulet screenstoconfirmthatyour commandsare recognized with
70%+confidence.
•If you make a mistake,pause before tryingagain to allow thesoftware to recognize a newcommand.

while. To play a particular artist, just say the name of the artist you want to listen to.
