General
Please read this specification completel and carefull before initial use
of the CarBeacon. It describes correct use and includes important
instructions for the installation of the CarBeacon. The manufacturer
accepts no liabilit for damage resulting from improper use. All
guarantee claims are then void.
Use of the CarBeacon
The CarBeacon makes possible the determination of position with the
help of the integrated GPS-receiver and the broadcast of this
information via mobile wireless networks (GSM/GPRS) for instance per
HTTP, SMS, E-mail and CSD.
When operating or in use the following applies:
When using cartographic material from a third part (for instance
Google Earth) the Terms of Use of the Provider of said material
must be adhered to.
The use of Links provided with CarBeacon to third part providers
or suppliers is the sole responsibilit of the user.
The following applies to Trade Names and Trademarks used in the text:
Windows is a Registered Trademark of the Microsoft Corporation.
Portable Document Format (PDF) and Postscript are Registered
Trademarks of Adobe S stems Inc., Google Earth and Google Maps are
Registered Trademarks of Google Inc., Mountain View, USA.

Safety Pre autions
Onl open the CarBeacon (for instance to insert the SIM-Card),
when the power suppl is disconnected.
Do not operate the CarBeacon, when one or more components
(casing, antenna, plug) are damaged or damage is suspected (for
instance after a fall).
Repairs to the CarBeacon ma onl be conducted b trained and
authorised personnel.
Safety Pre autions for the Mobile Telephony Component:
The CarBeacon contains a mobile telephon component similar to those used
in mobile telephones. Therefore in principle all safet precautions and measures
applicable to mobile telephones appl , especiall the following:
Do not use the CarBeacon in the vicinit of medical appliances such as Hearing
Aids or Heart Pacemakers. The function of these appliances could be impaired.
The CarBeacon ma be used in the vicinit of for instance television, radios or
PCs, it could however cause interference.
When an external Mobile Telephon Antenna is connected, the above mentioned
information is valid correspondingl in relation to use of the antenna.

Software
Software to control the CarBeacon is not required. Depending upon the chosen
Tracking-Mode though route- and / or anal sis software ma possibl be
required (for instance Google Earth, Google Maps, MS-Autoroute etc.)

SIM-Card (Prepaid or Contract)
(CAUTION: A GPRS-connection ma be required depending upon
the chosen Tracking-Mode. Not all the SIM-Cards of all Providers
are GPRS-capable ---> see also GPRS-connections).

In the standard configuration the CarBeacon has available a 2 core connecting
cable with which the sub-assembl is connected to the power suppl . The following
allocations appl :

Tracking-Mode is activated with the command ”TM x : 1” (x stands for
the Number of the Tracking-Mode), so for example ”TM10:1” -->
Tracking-Mode ”Email-Text” switch-on.
”TM x : 0” deactivates the individual Tracking Modi.

The activated Modi will be executed successivel , not in parallel, this
requires a suitable time-plan to be taken into account. The duration for
the dispatch of E-mails depends on the s stem, for example relativel
long (TM10). A ver short timespan for the parallel transmission of co-
ordinates via HTTP-GET (TM-21) would then possibl not be executed.
Because the chronological execution of transmission processes via GSM /
GPRS is fundamentall not exactl predictable, the time plan configured
should not be too short.
Even though individual Tracking-Modi can be combined, onl a single Tracking Mode
should be activated if possible.
