2. Functions
■Name of each parts
Each name of parts is noted below. Names of parts in this manual
will all be the same as below.

■Unfolding
The product is packed in a folded state at the time of shipment.
Please unfold sensor part before using.
Default Unfold with hands
（Attention ）Be careful about nipping your hands during
unfolding or storing.
（Attention）Please store the scanner during carrying around.
■Lighting on/off of LED
Switch of Inner LED is touch sensor. Touch the light bulb mark
when the scanner is connected to PC, the LED will be lit up.
Touch twice to adjust brightness
Touch this LED will be lit up
（Attention）LED part is made by soft material
Please do NOT touch the LED light

3. Preparation
Please prepare mat and documents for scanning.
①First, please put mat on somewhere or something flat and
stable.
（Image from above）
※Color of mat is different in front side and back side but could
be used for scanning either side.
②Then, put scanner on the mat where the white square is marked
and noted as ‘Scanner’. Please make sure that stand scanner is
put in middle of the square that marked as ‘A4’and ‘A5’.
Scanner
(Attention)Due to the feature of the sensor, the central
position of the mat might be different from the setting space
of the scanner. Please adjust a position on the screen later.

4. Software Installation
Special software is required in order to use SSA-600. In this
section it will explain the steps of installation.
（Attention）Please do not connect the stand scanner with PC
until installation of the software is completed.
（Attention）The requirements of the software, please look at
page 36 of ‘specs’.
（Attention ）This manual use Windows 7 as example of
installation.
①Place the installation CD-ROM into CD-ROM drive, the
installation program should be started automatically.
（Attention）Press ‘Continue anyway’when UAC is activated during
installation
（Attention ）If the installation would not activate
automatically, please execute the ‘Setup.exe’directly from the
CD-ROM in ‘My computer’.

②The screen of selecting install folder will show. Normally,
click ‘Next’to continue
③Click ‘Install’to start installation.

④Installation will be starting. It will take several minutes
to install. Please click ‘Finish’to complete and terminate
installation.
※Put check in 「Launch DocScanner」box and launch DocScanner
immediately after terminating install wizard.
⑤An icon of the software will be made in a list of desktop or
programs
（Attention）It might not be made on desktop depend on the
environment.

⑥After completion of the installation, please connect a PC to
a stand scanner with a USB cable. That is all for installation.
（Attention）Please see Q&A on page 33 if it could not identified
properly.

5. Use（Basic Functions）
Let’s try saving picture in standard state after installation.
①Connecting scanner to PC with USB cable.
②Please start "DocScanner" from the list of desktop or programs.

③‘DocScanner’will be launched
The image in the range of sensor will be shown on DocScaner Window.
Please project the image which you want to capture on the screen.
④Please click ‘scan’of the icon of the upper window when
adjusting position is completed. One still picture will be
taken.

⑤The captured image will be displayed in a thumbnail on left
side of the window.
The preview will be displayed on the right side of the screen
when you double-click the thumbnail.
⑥The scanned data will be saved in "DocScaner" folder in the
My Document. You could also find through Explorer directly.

6. Use（Window operation）
In this section, it will explain the operation of special
software. Each menu and function of icons will be introduced in
next section.

■Menu bar（Topside of the Window）
File operation or each function is divided into menu bar at upper
side of the window.
■Tool bar（Upper window）
Tool bar (with icons) is just under the menu bar. Some functions
of the menu bar are displayed with an icon in tool bar, and the
use of the function is possible immediately by clicking it.
Several icons between capture mode and preview mode will be
displayed in different way.
■Saving list（Left side of the window）
Saved data list of which are displayed by thumbnail is at the
left side of the window. Please click ‘Scan result’to show or
hide the list.

■Video／Image（Upper window）
To switch between capture window and preview window, please
click tab at upper left side of the window.
■Video Property（Right side of the window）
It will display windows such as the setting of a picture on the
right side when you click ‘Video tool’at the right side of the
window. Several tabs between capture mode and preview mode will
be displayed in different way.

7. Use（Capture Function）
You could select capture range and image effect during
capturing.
■Capture range adjustment
It will capture the whole range that a sensor scanned when you
press the capture button with the initial state. Please follow
the steps below if you only want to capture necessary range.
（Attention）The pixels of saved data will be lower when you
select the capture range than when you captured the whole range.
1. Adjust capture range in Option
Click ‘option’in ‘Tools’on menu bar. Please select capture size
at ‘Video setting’, ‘Paper size’in the Option, it will be at
selected manuscript size.

■Effect（Color inversion.etc）
You are able to capture with effects shown above by clicking the
icons. To cancel all effects, please click ‘Color’icon.
Inverse color －Inverting the color of captured image and
save it.
Grey-scale －Transferring to gray scale and save it.
Black Line －Only two colors of black and white, and save it.
■Change display size
You are able to select option of adjusting display size from menu
bar or tool bar. This size is just a display size but not the
saved data. ‘Actual size’will fix display size to make resolution
of saved data match with resolution of the monitor. It will be
different from the actual manuscript size.

■Revising direction（Turn of the image）
Please use the icons on tool bar or ‘Image’on the menu bar to
revise the direction of the image at the time of saving. You are
able to adjust the direction 90 degrees and can reverse it
vertically or horizontally.
■Video property
You are able to adjust and confirm various setting as you click
‘Video Tool’on the right side of window. As you click it,‘Video
Property’and two tabs, ‘Tools’will be displayed, and adjustment
of each option is available.
