General safety information
WARNING INDICATIONS FOR USE
Read and follow carefully instructions about installation and connection in this manual
Do not try to unmount the camera: to avoid risk of electric shock, do not remove any screw or cover;
no user serviceable parts inside. Refer to qualified service personnel in case of need
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Handle carefully: do not drop or subject the camera to shock and vibration as this can damage camera;
conserve properly the product
Do not try to rotate manually the camera. Never expose the camera directly in the sun
Do not point the camera at bright light sources, even with camera off may cause stains or excess
brightness
Never expose the camera to heat for a long time; heat sources such as neon signs can burn inside the
display, part of the image may suffer discoloration of the filter leading to deterioration of color
Do not use the camera outside the power parameters provided
Refer to qualified service personnel in case of need for maintenance or replacement

Inform about the collection of electrical and electronic products, in force in the area where you want
to dispose of this material
Follow local regulations for disposal of waste and do not throw your old products as generic waste

Preliminary information
The Apoint Video Conference Camera -available in its SD and HD versions- is an indoor PTZ color
camera equipped with varifocal lens that allows getting a 10x optical zoom. PTZ control occurs through
RS485 with PELCO-D protocol; it is possible to set up to 64 presets easily selectable in each. Through the
Control Station equipped with NexusPub Video Controller, it is possible to set presets, to make functional
choices and to move manually the Mini Dome; the cameras are also supplied complete with IR remote
controller, whose use is recommended only during the setting of the cameras

Installation precautions
Check if the installation location is of sufficient height. Make sure installation spots (ceiling or wall) is of
sufficient strength to support camera and bracket without immediate danger of falling.
Avoid, during both the installation and the normal use, to rotate the camera with the hands and do not
move up and down manually the camera lens; this may damage the normal behaviour of the engine.
Please comply with RS485 wiring standards and select proper RS485 cable. Improper cable may result in
RS485 communication transmission error, which may cause an improper functioning of the camera itself.
Communication protocol and IR channel setup
To set communications parameters, dip switches of the block SW2 are available at the bottom of the
camera. Remembered that the standard use with NexusPub requires to set PELCO D protocol with baud
rate 9600 and that the use of the IR remote controller is recommended during the setup phase, here
there are the instruction for acting on the dip switches of block SW2

ID address setup
The camera can take a unique identification address (ID) between 1
and 255; to set the ID use the dip switches of the block SW1
available at the bottom of the camera; the setting is the same both
for SD and for HD camera

RS-485 wiring diagram
The connection between one or more cameras, the Control Station and the optional joystick is sequential
with two wires, with the first camera that connects with the second, the second with the third and so on;
the connection of the proper RS-485 wire to the camera and to the Control Station has to be done through
the supplied installation accessories
SD Camera
In the five pins terminal for RS-422 and RS-485 connection supplied with the
camera, connect the RS485+ wire to PIN 3 and the RS485- wire to the PIN 4
HD Camera
In the four pins terminal supplied with the camera -in combination with
the breakout cable that needs to be connected to the VISCA OUT
connector in the rear of the camera-, connect the RS485+ wire to PIN
R+ and the RS485- wire to PIN R-
Control Station
In the Moxa connector supplied with the Control Station, connect the RS485+ wire to
PIN 1 and the RS485- to PIN 2

Mounting and orientation
In this section are reported images and exemplifying schemes for wall, desk / ceiling and tripod mounting;
it is recalled that the wall bracket is not available for the HD version of the camera and it may be realized
independently using the supplied ceiling bracket

Tripod Mounting
The SD camera is equipped with Autoflip function so it is enough to orientate correctly the shot and save
the presets according to the type of installation; in the setup configuration of NexusPub Video Controller,
for desk installation it is recommended to flag the box “Camera upside down” for a proper management
of the jog direction of the camera
In the HD camera, according to the type of installation, for a proper orientation of the shot it may be
necessary operate on the function “Auto Rev” available in the Dome OSD menu (recallable from the IR
remote controller or by selecting the preset 91 in NexusPub Video Controller, see the following section)

Premise: some of the voices reported below are not operating or dedicated to the use with VISCA
protocol here not explained; furthermore, the Apoint Video Conference camera is predisposed to be used
in combination with the Control Station and then is supplied with a configuration dedicated to that use
In this section are reported summary tables of the functions present in the menu; to operate within the
menu, use the up and down directional arrows to move between the voices, the left and right directional
arrows to modify the desired value
SD Camera
There is a unique menu on two different screens, recallable in sequence by pushing the Dome OSD or the
Lens OSD buttons on the IR remote controller or by recalling the preset 95 through NexusPub Video
Controller; repeat again the operation to exit the menu

the IR remote controller or by selecting respectively the preset 91 and 95 through NexusPub Video
Controller; repeat again the operation to exit the menu

Save presets
The Apoint Video Conference camera is predisposed to be used in combination with the Control Station
and is supplied with a configuration dedicated to that use
The only basic operation delegated to the user is the preset creation that can be performed with the
following procedure:
move the camera and set the desired level of zoom through NexusPub Video Controller
select a number of preset (with the incremental arrows or typing the number) in
the dedicated section of the NexusPub Video Controller mask
click on Save Preset
