SAFETY MESSAGES
The following warning messages are used on all the
instruction sheets to draw your attention to the
situations described below.
DANGER
Safety warning symbol. When you see this
symbol on the motorcycle or instruction sheets,
beware of potential injury hazards.
Failure to observe the instructions following
these symbols may affect your safety, the safety
of others and that of the motor cycle!

CAUTION
For the sa e of safety, before starting the
vehicle, carry out a thorough preliminary chec .
See the PRELIMINARY CHECK LIST IN THE
VEHICLE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
HANDBOOK.
Failure to carry out these chec s may lead to
serious injury or damage to the vehicle.
Very little time is required, and the benefits in
terms of safety are enormous.
The components in this handbook are supplied
disassembled, and have to be fitted to the motor
cycle. These instruction sheets for dealers describe
the correct fitting procedures.
Read the instructions in the sheets to avoid
breakages or incorrect assembly.
Remove the bag containing the mirrors and other
loose parts (i.e. not fitted to the motor cycle body)
from the crate.
After removing the nailed-on supports and
crosspieces from the crate (used for transport
purposes), push the motor cycle off the bottom of
the crate and position it on the stand.

described below.

CAUTION
ASSEMBLY OF THE SILENCER KIT
wTo assemble the titanium RACING exhaust, follow the instructions in the exhaust
handbook.
Assembly should be carried out by qualified/specialist personnel (both the
exhaust and EPROM).

BATTERY
DANGER
Battery electrolyte is toxic, caustic and the
contact with the s in may cause serious burns,
since it contains sulfuric acid. Wear protective
clothing, a face shield and/or tight fitting goggles
when wor ing around the battery. In case of
contact with the s in, flush immediately with
plenty of water.
In case of contact with the eyes, flush with plenty
of water for at least 15 minutes. Immediately
consult an optician.
If the electrolyte is accidentally swallowed, drin
large quantities of water or mil , and then mil
of magnesia or vegetable oil. Immediately consult
a health professional. The battery gives off
noxious and explosive gases; eep it away from
cigarettes, flames, spar s and any other source
of heat. During the recharging or the use, ma e
sure that the room is properly ventilated and
avoid inhaling the gases released during the
recharging. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN. Do
not tip the vehicle too much, or tip the battery
too much, to avoid electrolyte lea ing out.
The battery liquid is corrosive. Do not pour or
sprin le it, particularly on plastic parts. When the
battery has been removed it must be placed in a
safe place out of the reach of children. The battery
is very dangerous and may cause serious injury
or death.
CAUTION
INITIAL BATTERY CHARGING
wRemove the saddle, by unscrewing the screws (1).
wRemove the cap (2) from the recharge container
(3).
wPlace the container in the battery as shown in the
drawing.
wUse the same plug (2) to close up battery holes.
FITTING THE BATTERY
wMake sure the ignition key is in the   position.
wPlace the battery into its housing.
wFirst connect the positive cable (+) then the nega-
tive (-).
wUse a neutral grease or vaseline to grease
terminals.
REFITTING THE BATTERY AFTER
FIRST RECHARGE
Wait 5-10 minutes after recharging and then fit
the battery, since it continues to produce gas
for a period after recharging.

FITTING THE MIRRORS
wTighten the nut with caliper (1) in the clutch pump.
wPosition the ring nut (2).
wFit the mirror with rod and adjust as required.
Carry out the same operations for the right-hand mirror.

FITTING THE FRONT WHEEL
Before carrying out any maintenance operation
or inspection of the front wheel, if possible hoist
the vehicle onto a solid and level surface with
suitable equipment.
When disassembling and reassembling the front
wheel, ta e extra care not to damage the bra e
lines, discs or pads.
To fit the front wheel, you may require a helper.
wPlace the vehicle on two stands, front and back.

wFit the left brake grabber on the disc (7).
wTighten the two screws (8) securing the brake
caliper.
Screw (8) tightening torque: 36.88 ftlb (50 Nm)
wDo the same for the right-hand brake caliper.
FITTING THE RETROREFLECTOR
wPlace the retroreflector (2) on the mudguard and
secure with a self-tightening flanged nut (1) M5.

FITTING THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER
wPlace the license plate holder (3) on the mudguard
(4) and secure with 3 screws M6 and 3 flanged nuts.

CAUTION
wFit the wheel and pin (1).
The spacer (2) must be fitted on the right of the
vehicle between the wheel and wheel pin
terminal.
CAUTION
When fitting the front wheel, chec the direction
against the arrow on the hub
CAUTION
When fitting the pin (1) ma e sure the openings
coincide with those on the wheel pin terminal.
wReset the motor cycle by dry running the suspension two or three times to line up the rods.
wSecure the screws (5) and (6) in the left-hand and right-hand terminals.
Screw (5 - 6) tightening torque: 16,22 ftlb (22 Nm).

wFit the screws (5) of the left-hand rod terminal to
prevent the pin rotating.
wFit the washer (3) and secure the nut (4).
Screw (4) tightening torque: 59,0 ftlb (80 Nm).
wLoosen the screws (5) of the left terminal.
wRemove the stand.
