Safety regulations and installation
For your own safety, please read this manual carefully and follow the instructions.
Improper handling can damage the device.
Cleaning:
Do not use any liquid cleaner or corrosive agent. Only clean with a dampened cloth.
Installation:
Installation should be performed only by trained personnel.
Please note the maximum allowable length for Ethernet cable.
Mounting:
The TS400 CPU Processor should not be installed without protection outdoors or in
rooms with high humidity or where it is in contact with condensation.
The TS400 CPU Processor can be snapped on a DIN rail, using the included bracket.
Another possibility is to lay the TS400 CPU Processor on a rack shelf.
DIN rail bracket mounting
Mount the DIN rail bracket with the two screws.
Operation
The CPU is equipped with a pulse switch 1. Equal to a standard PC a short pulse
is enough to switch it on and off. If the switch is pressed and hold longer than 4
seconds, the CPU will be switched of hard. This could cause data loss.
After a power loss the TS400 CPU returns to the operation mode it had before the
power loss. If it was off before the power loss, it remains off. If the CPU was in op-
eration, it is going to reboot.
The power mode switch 2 has to be on position ATX. ATX mode allows the CPU
time to save all information and complete important tasks before turning off the
power. AT-mode switches the CPU hard off, this may lead to data loss.

Connections:
1: Network connection 1 (eth0): Customer network
Customer network for the connection to the existing infrastructure. In this network the
TS400 CPU is a client. Given that the user has the necessary access rights, this connection
enables the system access from customer computers and the sending of emails.
2: Network connection 2 (eth1): Technet
Technical network and local programming interface. The Technet is managed by the TS400
CPU. Devices connected to the Technet are receiving automatically an IP-address given by
the CPU. The Technet is the preferred network to connect peripheral devices like nodes.
3-4: USB connections
These connections offer many possible applications, example given if more serial connec-
tions are necessary or to connect a modem. Two more USB connectors are located on the
other side of the TS400 CPU
5: Power supply connection
The supply voltage has o be within the range of 9V –48VDC.
The connection is made with a Phoenix-DC connector.
6-7: RS232 Serial connections
Universal serial interface to connect different external devices. A very common example is a
modem or I/O Modules. The serial connection is also used to realize the link to sub-systems
example given using ESPA 444. The interfaces are named ttyS0, ttyS1 und ttyS2.
