WARNING! When using power tools, the following safety instructions must be observed to reduce the risk
of personal injury and property damage. Please read and observe the following instructions before use.
1. Keep work area clean
An untidy and cluttered work area increases
the risk of accidents.
2. Use eye protection
Safety glasses or goggles must be worn.
A facemask should also be worn when dust
is generated, particularly when fine dust is
generated as with MDF.
3. Wear suitable work clothes
Don’t wear loose fitting clothes or jewellery.
They can be caught in moving parts and may
cause injury. For outdoor work rubber gloves
and non-slip footwear are advised. Wear a
protective hair net to contain long hair.
4. Guard against electric shock
Avoid any body contact with grounded surfaces
eg. pipes, radiators, stoves, and refrigerator
enclosures.
5. Observe work area environment
Do not expose power tools to rain or damp and
wet conditions. Do not use power tools in close
proximity to flammable liquids or gases. The work
area should be well lit and well ventilated.
6. Keep children away
Children should be kept away from the work area.
Do not permit them to handle the tool or tool cable.
7. Secure the work pieces
Use clamps or a vice to hold work. This will free
up both hands to operate the tool, which is safer.
8. Don’t overreach when working
Keep a balanced footing at all times. Avoid
abnormal stances and awkward body positioning.
9. Do not overload or force tools
Tools operate better in the specified performance
ranges. Forcing the tool may cause motor damage.
10. Check for damage
Before further use always check the protection
guards carefully to ensure proper operation and
performance. Check for alignment of moving parts,
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts,
mountings and any other condition that may effect
the tools operation. An authorised service dealer
should properly repair all damaged parts unless
otherwise indicated elsewhere in the instruction
manual. Do not use the tool if the switch does not
turn it on and off.
11. Repairs
This power tool is built in accordance with the
relevant safety standards. An electrical specialist
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
must carry out repairs, otherwise accidents
may result.
12. Pull out power plug
When changing accessories or when the tool
is not in use.
13. Use the right tool
Do not force a small tool or accessory to do the
job of a heavy-duty tool. Only use the tool for its
intended purpose.
14. Maintain tools with care
For efficient and safe operation tools should be
kept clean and the accessories ie. saw blade,
should be sharp during use. Check the plug and
cable regularly, if damaged they should be
repaired by an authorised electrical specialist.
15. Avoid unintentional starting
Do not carry tools by the switch. Always check
that the switch is in the off position before
connecting to power source.
16. Don’t abuse power cable
Never carry the tool by the power cable. Do not
use the power cable to pull the plug out of the
power point. The cable should also be protected
from heat, oil and sharp objects.
17. Storage
When not in use your power tools should be
stored in a dry area, which is not accessible to
children.
18. Stay alert
Do not use the tool when you are tired. Use
common sense and watch what you are doing.
19. Remove keys and spanners
Do not forget to remove any adjustment keys,
spanners and wrenches before switching on
the tool.
20. Voltage warning
Before connecting the tool to the power source
ensure the voltage specified on the nameplate is
the same as the voltage supply. A power source
with voltage greater than specified on the tool can
cause serious injury and damage to the tool. Using
a power source with voltage less than the tool
rating can cause damage to the motor.
Do not plug in tool if you are in doubt.
21. Recommended use
Please note the use of tools other than those
described in instruction manuals or in the product
catalogues can result in a risk of personal injury.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Please read before using this tool
• This tool is designed for DIY (Do it Yourself)
consumer home use only and is covered by a 2 year
replacement warranty. It is not intended for
commercial or industrial use and the warranty does
not apply for these applications.
• When first using the tool, it may emit a slight resin
or oily smell, this is normal and should pass after a
period of time.
• Familiarise yourself with information contained in
this instruction sheet prior to use.
WARNING!
• Bolt the scroll saw securely to the workbench.
If this is not possible, clamp the scroll saw to the
work table or bench.
• Do not operate without the blade guard fitted.
• Do not attempt to cut workpieces too small to be
held outside the blade guard.
• Avoid awkward hand positions when feeding
material through the machine, as you may
inadvertently contact the blade
• Adjust blade tension correctly – this will improve
operation, blade life and reduce blade breakage.
• To avoid losing control of the workpiece:
- Support large pieces of material at the height of
the saw table.
- Hold the workpiece firmly against the saw table.
- Use caution if cutting material which is not of
uniform thickness which could pitch the blade
before the cut is completed
- Use caution if cutting round material as this has a
tendency to roll while being cut, causing the blade
to bite in.
• If you back the blade out of the workpiece, the blade
may bind in the slot (kerf), if this happens, switch off
and wedge open the kerf so that the blade can be
backed out. Avoid bending the blade.
• When machine is in operation keep hands away from
blade.
• Keep power cord away from the cutting area.
• This saw can cut material up to 50mm thick, but best
performance is on thin material up to 12mm thick.
RECOMMENDED SAW BLADES
•
Blades suitable for this machine are pinned end
blades with dimension of 124mm from pin to pin.
•
The machine must be set up so that it stands firmly,
e.g. bolt it to a work bench, a universal base or
similar.
•
If the machine cannot be bolted, clamp firmly to the
working surface.

b) Insert the end of the blade through the
access hole in the table until you can hook
the pin of the blade onto the blade holder
inside the base of the machine. This may take
some practice. Then slide the top blade pin
into the recess in upper blade holder. You may
need to press down lightly on the upper blade
holder to assist this process.
c) Tighten the Blade Tension Knob by turning
clockwise. The blade must be quite taut to
reduce any bending of the blade when any
pressure is applied while cutting.
The blade can be positioned at 90˚ in the blade holders
to allow for side cutting if this is more convenient.
(However never use the side cutting position when
angling the machine table for mitre cuts.)
SETTING TABLE LEVEL
Initially, the angle scale on the table may require
setting to zero. Take a small try square, and set it on
the table. Pivot the table slightly until the square aligns
with the blade. Lock the table in this position and use
a screwdriver to adjust the bevel scale pointer to zero
at this position.
4
•
Fit the clear guard at the end of the frame arm
using the bolt and thumbnut as shown above the
bolt and thumbnut are also used to mount and
adjust the Dust Blower Nozzle.
•
Mount the Dust Blower Bracket as shown and
connect the plastic tube to the blower outlet on
top of the frame arm.
•
Adjust the Dust Blower Nozzle by positioning and
twisting to a convenient angle where it will assist
in blowing sawdust from the cutting line.
REMOVING/FITTING A BLADE
Important! Always ensure plug is disconnected
when fitting or changing blade to avoid the
possibility of accidental starting of the machine.
1. loosen tension on the blade by turning the Blade
Tension Knob (13) anticlockwise
2. Remove Blade by pulling forward on blade and
then lifting the blade through the access hole in
the table. Slight downward
pressure on the blade holder
may be helpful in removing
the blade from the holder
3. To fit a blade:
a) Ensure the teeth of the
blade point down
towards the table of the
machine when fitted

Press the red “O” button to switch off
To make a cut
1. Switch on
2. Position the material to be cut firmly against the
saw table and present it to the blade.
3. Cut with smooth even pressure, allowing the saw
to cut the material
4. Switch off when cut is complete.
TIPS ON MAKING CUTS
Making curved cuts
Cutting a curved workpiece, even one that is quite
intricately shaped, is a commonplace task on a
powered scroll saw. So long as you are using a blade
of the right width, it is easy enough to follow a marked
line freehand, always cutting on the waste side of the
line to preserve the shape of the finished piece.
Cutting curves
Feed the work with both hands, holding it flat on the
saw table while applying forward pressure into the
blade. Keep your hands on either side of the blade,
never directly in line with it. Be patient and feed the
work slowly, allowing the blade to cut naturally. If you
feel you are having to force the cut, change the dull
blade for a sharp one.
While concentrating on the point of cut, it is all to easy
to distort a narrow blade by unintentional sideways
pressure or by twisting the work. To allow the blade
to spring back to its natural position, relax fingertip
pressure very slightly while continuing to maintain
control over the work.
Cutting an aperture
First, drill a small hole in the waste through which you
can pass the blade; then with the saw switched off,
connect both ends to the saw. Switch on the saw
again and follow your marked line to complete the
aperture, then release the blade to remove the
workpiece.
The work table can be
fitted to the left for bevel
cutting up to 45 degrees
From the 0 degree or
horizontal cutting position.
Making bevel cuts
To make a bevel cut, adjust the angle of the saw table,
then proceed as if you were cutting a square edge,
taking extra care not to distort the blade. To avoid
distortion, keep the feed pressure directly in line with
the cutting edge.
Making straight cuts on a scroll saw
A powered scroll saw is not especially good for
making straight cuts, but you can clamp a temporary
wooden fence to the table to guide the work on its
intended path. As most scrollwork consists of a
combination of straight and curved shapes, it is
usually necessary to follow all marked lines by eye.
Better straight cuts can be made with blades of
greater width. Use narrow blades for curved cuts.

temporary fence

Combination straight and curved cuts
If the combination of straight and curved lines is
such that you will need to change one blade for
another, drill access holes at strategic points where
the wider blade will have to swapped for a narrow
one and vice versa.
MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
WARNING! Remove plug from power outlet before
maintaining or lubricating your saw. Remove dust
and dirt regularly from the machine.
General
An occasional coat of paste wax on the worktable
will allow the wood being cut to glide smoothly across
the work surface.
Motor
Do not attempt to oil the motor bearings or service the
motor internal parts.
Arm bearings
Lubricate the arm bearing after every 50 hours of use.
To do so:
1. Turn saw on its side.
2. Squirt a generous amount of SAE 20 oil around the
shaft end and bronze bearing
3. Let the oil. Soak in overnight in the condition.
4. Next day repeat the above procedure for the
opposite side of the saw.
Upper arm bearing is accessed by
removing screws from upper arm top
cover and lifting off cover.
