Time Switch PC697 series 7

Keep in a convenient place for future reference.
Introduction
The PC697 Time Switch has a built in, rechargeable battery. If a
power failure occurs or the unit is removed from the mains outlet,
the rechargeable battery will power the time switch avoiding the
loss of any preset programs. NOTE: The rechargeable battery is
a non replaceable type. the battery will not provide power to any
appliance during a power failure.
Initial Set-up
1) Plug the timer into a mains outlet and switch on.
2) All segments of the display should flash on momentarily
if the screen was blank prior to power up.
NOTE: If screen remains blank after connection to mains supply,
leave unit for approx 14 hours to fully charge the battery before
operation.
3) If unit was already operational before connection to mains
outlet,reset unit by pressing small reset button using a
paperclip or pen. The display segments should all illuminate
and the unit will reset to time 0:00

a. MASTER CLEAR: Clear all data in memory including
current time and all programs.
b. RANDOM: Set or cancel random function.
c. CLOCK: Set current time combined with buttons WEEK,
HOUR, MIN. Select 12 or 24 hour mode combined with
button TIMER. Activate summertime function combined
with button MANUAL.
d. TIMER: Set programs combined with buttons WEEK, HOUR,
MIN. Select 12 or 24 hour mode combined with button CLOCK.
e. ON/AUTO/OFF: Select operating modes of timer.
f. WEEK: set week combined with button CLOCK or TIMER.
g. HOUR: Set hour combined with button CLOCK or TIMER.
h. MIN: Set minute combined with button CLOCK or TIMER.
i. RST/RCL: Override programs or recall the overridden programs.
j. LED: Shows status of power output. When the indicator is
ON, there is power output. When the indicator is OFF,
there is no power output.

To Set Present Time and Day
NOTE: The clock automatically operates in 24 hour mode when
reset. To change between 12 and 24 hour modes, press the
“CLOCK” and “TIMER” button simultaneously to toggle between
12 and 24 hour modes. The AM or PM indication will be shown
in the display for 12 hour mode.
Example: To set day to Wednesday at 4.10pm

At master reset, the clock is set
to time 0:00:00 MONDAY and
24 hour format. To show 12
hour format press “CLOCK”
and “TIMER” simultaneously.
The AM indicator appears at
the top left of the LCD display.
To change the hours, press
the “CLOCK” and “HOUR”
buttons at the same time.
Continue pressing until the
desired hour is shown.
To change the minutes, press
“CLOCK” and “MIN” buttons
at the same time. Continue
pressing until the desired
minutes are shown. To change
the day, press “CLOCK” and
“WEEK” buttons at the same
time. Continue pressing until
the correct day is shown at
the top of the display.

To Program Timer
By pressing the “TIMER” button you can scroll through all the
timer setting displays. There are a total of 10 timer settings
displayed 10 “ON” and 10 “OFF” settings.
This diagram will help to explain how to set the timer function.

Press the “TIMER” button,
the display should appear
as shown - This is the “ON”
setting for programs No. 1.
NOTE: One of the “ON -
OFF - AUTO” settings will
also appear at the bottom of
the display.
Press the “HOUR” “MIN” and
WEEK” buttons in turn to set
the time and day according
to when you want to set the
timer program on.
In the example opposite the
program 1 on time has been
set to 3.30AM Monday.
Press the “TIMER” button
again, and the display will
show the next programme
step which is the OFF time for
programe 1. (Corresponding
off to the on that was just set)
Use the “HOUR” “MIN” and
“WEEK buttons to set the OFF
time desired. In our example
on the left the off time for
programe 1 has been set to
6.30PM Thursday.

To Disable Timer Programs
Timer programs may be disabled/enabled by pressing the
“RST/RCL” button whilst the relevant timer program is displayed.
The display should look similar to this when disabled.
If re-enabled by pressing
the “RST/RCL” button the
timer display will revert back
to the original day and time
program.
Preset Day Setting
The timer is able to programme several day/week groupings.
When programming the day of the week, this function can be used.
Press “WEEK” to select day/s. When selected the timer will
switch “ON” on at the time on the day/s shown in the display.
Scenarios available:
1) INDIVIDUAL DAY
Select one of the seven week days. The display shows the
name of the day (is: MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA or SU).
2) EVERYDAY - All days are shown on the display.
3) WEEKDAYS - Display shown MO, TU, WE, TH and FR)
4) WEEKEND - Display shows SA SU
5) ALL DAYS EXCEPT SUNDAY
Display shows MO, TU, WE, TH, FR and SA
6) MO - WE - FR - THREE DAYS ALTERNATING
7) TU - TH - SA - THREE DAYS ALTERNATING
8) MO - TU - WE - THREE DAYS START OF WEEK
9) TH - FR - SA - THREE DAYS END OF WEEK
10) MO - WE - FR - SU - ALTERNATE DAYS
The timer “OFF” position can be set to any day or group of days also.

Example:
To set a lamp to switch on and off in the morning from
Monday to Friday

Although the timer has 10 “ON” and “OFF” settings you do not
have to use all the settings.

Daylight Savings
The Compact Digital Time
Switch incorporates a
daylight savings advance
function. When activated this
automatically advances the
clock forward an hour. To activate: Press “CLOCK” and “ON/
AUTO/OFF” buttons simultaneously. A symbol will appear
on the screen and the clock time will advance. Simply repeat
procedure to cancel.

Manual Overide Operation
The Compact Digital Time Switch can be used as a manual
switch if desired. To turn power on to a device connected to the
time switch, simply press the “ON/AUTO/OFF” button until the
display shows “ON”. To turn off and prevent timer operation
toggle the “ON/AUTO/OFF” button so that display shows “OFF”.
If the timer is set to “ON” and then switched across to “AUTO”
by pressing the “OVER” button, the appliance will continue to
remain “ON”. The timer will switch “OFF” the appliance at the
next programmed “OFF” time. If no “OFF” time is set then the
timer will continue to stay “ON”. This is also true in the “OFF”
to “AUTO” position, the timer will stay “OFF” until the next set
“ON” time is reached.
Random Operation
Your Compact Digital Time
Switch incorporates a
random mode function so that
the programs vary slightly
from day to day. The random
function will place varying times of between 0 - 31 min on the
preset programs to derive the random turn on times. To operate
press “RANDOM” button during normal clock operation. The
symbol will appear when the random function is activated. Press
the “RANDOM” button again to deactivate.
User Hints
By holding the “UP” or “DOWN” buttons continuously whilst
programming, the digits will scroll automatically, release button
when required digit is reached. The timer can be programmed
whilst held in the hand without any need for being connected
to mains power. To operate always ensure that the appliance
to be operated from time switch is switched on. Time switch is
not waterproof - for indoor use only. Do not expose the timer to
temperature extremes or strong direct sunlight. Only clean unit
with a damp rag. Do not use solvents or detergent.

Warranty
Arlec guarantees this product in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
Arlec also warrants to the original first purchaser of this product (“you”) from a
retailer that this product will be free of defects in materials and workmanship
for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase; provided the product is
not used other than for the purpose, or in a manner not within the scope of the
recommendations and limitations, specified by Arlec, is new and not damaged at
the time of purchase, has not been subjected to abuse, misuse, neglect or damage,
has not been modified or repaired without the approval of Arlec and has not been
used for commercial purposes (“Warranty”).
If you wish to claim on the Warranty, you must, at your own expense, return the
product, and provide proof of original purchase and your name, address and
telephone number, to Arlec at the address below or the retailer from whom you
originally purchased the product within 12 months from the date of purchase.
Arlec will (or authorise the retailer to) assess any claim you may make on the
Warranty in the above manner and if, in Arlec’s reasonable opinion, the Warranty
applies, Arlec will at its own option and expense (or authorise the retailer to)
replace the product with the same or similar product or repair the product and
return it to you or refund the price you paid for the product. Arlec will bear its own
expenses of doing those things, and you must bear any other expenses of claiming
on the Warranty.
The Warranty is in addition to other rights and remedies you may have under a law
in relation to the product to which the Warranty relates.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian
Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure
and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be
of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
