arsenalmod.com Page 2 of 14
Before Proceeding
These instructions are for the install of the Arsenal One 28 pin chip for the Xbox One. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE
BEGINNING INSTALLATION. This installation requires soldering to very small points, and is not recommended for anyone
who does not have experience with soldering electronic devices.
Proceed with install at your own risk. Arsenal Mod will not be held responsible for any damages that occur to you, your
controller, your console, or any other hardware and/or person(s). Opening your controller will result in voiding the
warranty for your controller.
Necessary Tools
If you have purchased the Arsenal One Ultimate Install Kit, you will need the following:
Hot glue gun
Soldering iron
Wire strippers
5/16 drill bit
Sharp edge
If you have purchased the Arsenal One Basic Install Kit, you will need the following in addition to the above items:
T8 security screwdriver
T6 screwdriver
Pry tool
Solder

Opening the Controller
1. Remove battery cover
Using pry tool, lift an edge on the side panel just enough to get your finger or finger nail underneath. Once you have a
good grip on the side panel, remove it by simply pulling it off. It may feel like it will break off, but it should come off after
applying sufficient force.

2. Remove five screws using T-8 security screwdriver. One screw is hidden behind the sticker in the battery
compartment. Simply poke a hole in the sticker and remove that part of the sticker to expose the screw.
Back cover should come off easily. It may be necessary to push down RT and LT while removing back cover.

3. Remove motor wires. Note the locations of the wires, they will need to be soldered back once the install is
completed. Remove the two T6 screws.
After removal of the wires and screws, the top PCB can be disconnected from the bottom PCB by lifting it upward. 2
connectors hold the PCB in place. Once you disconnect the connectors, the top and bottom PCB are no longer attached.

DIP/SOIC Install
SOIC Chip DIP Chip
4. NOTE: Install instructions show the usage of a DIP chip. Same install instructions apply for the smaller SOIC
chip install as well. DIP installs have been discontinued due to spacing constraints in the Xbox One
controller. THE PINOUT FOR THE SOIC CHIP IS THE SAME AS THE DIP –THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.

Chip Install
5. Pin diagram for chip:
6. The chip should be placed upside down with pins facing you. Solder wires according to pin diagram above.
NOTE: If you would like to have a remap only controller, do not connect Sync, LT and RT.
Cut wires to 5 inches in length. Example of soldered wires below, use a color scheme that suits your needs
best. Connect the ground pins together as shown below.

Once wires are connected, mount the chip with hot glue to top PCB as shown below. For the SOIC chip, it is
recommended to use the alternative mounting position. The white dot in the diagram below indicates pin 1 position.

J5 and J6 Connections
7. On the reverse side of to PCB, solder wires to the legs of connectors J5 and J6. For J5, all D-pad connections,
Sync and LB need to be connected. Cut wire to the correct length to keep the install clean.
When connecting to the legs of the J5 and J6 connectors, apply some solder to the legs first. Then introduce
the wire to the leg while heating the solder. Remove soldering iron after wire has made the connection to
the leg. Using a multimeter, you can check if the connection is made by checking the resistance is 0 ohms
from the top of the connector, and the other end of the wire. If your multimeter has the connection check
option, you will hear a “beep” if the connection is made.

8. For J6: Connected Power, A, X, Y, View and RB as shown below. To connect B, lightly scrape off any coating
on top PCB. Do NOT scrape off the metal contact. Once any coating is removed, the metal contact can be
soldered to. Make sure not to connect the 2 pads together by D14. Route wires as shown below and cut
wires to the correct length to keep the install clean.

Connect Triggers
9. SKIP THIS STEP FOR REMAP ONLY CONTROLLER. To connect triggers, lightly scrape off any coating on the
points shown below using a sharp edge such as a knife. Do NOT twist knife in hole, that will destroy the
trigger connection. Once the coating is removed, you should see the copper exposed to make the
connection. Apply some solder to the exposed connection, and then connect wire to make the connection.

Additional Buttons
10. Since 4 ground connections are needed for the additional buttons. It’s best to connect 4 wires together, and
solder a single ground point to the ground connection on the PCB. Cut 1 black wire of length 1.5 inches. Cut
4 black wires to length of 4 inches. Solder them together as shown below:
11. Connect the ground wires to ground:

arsenalmod.com Page 13 of 14
12. To prepare additional buttons, cut off 1 side of the legs on the buttons and solder T1 –T4 to the 4 buttons
provided. One side should be soldered to the trigger, the other to ground.
13. Drill 5/16 inch holes in the locations shown here:
14. Place buttons through holes and use hot glue to secure them in place. When applying hot glue, do not allow
glue to stick to button shaft, as this will not allow the button to be pressed properly. Apply reasonable
amount of glue on the back of the switch so that buttons will not come loose during game play.

15. At this point only the LED connection is remaining. It’s best to make sure all your connections are still
attached to the correct spot. Using a multimeter, it’s best to make sure all your connections from the chip to
the PCBs are correct. It’s also highly recommended to make sure you don’t have any shorts (connections)
between pins on the J5 and J6 connectors. Once you have make sure your connections are correct, you can
secure them with hot glue so that connections are not disturbed during reassembly of the controller (this is
up to you to do, if you have made a mistake, you will have to remove the glue to get to the solder points).
16. Connect top PCB with bottom PCB by connecting J5 and J6 with the bottom PCB connectors. Connect LED
wire to bottom PCB on the top connection point on R5. Coating must be removed to expose the necessary
connection:
17. Now that the top and bottom PCB are connected, secure them with the 2 T6 screws as seen in step 3.
18. Reconnect the motors as seen in step 3.
19. Put back cover into place while making sure the battery pins are in the correct position. You will have to
depress the triggers when putting the back cover back on. Once the back cover is on, make sure the triggers
can still be pressed.
20. Put joy sticks back in place.
21. Place front cover back on.
22. Reinstall five T-8 security screws back in as seen in step 2.
23. Put side panels back in place. They just need to be pressed in. You should hear them snap in place.
24. Done! Your controller now has rapid fire and four additional tournament style buttons. See instruction
manual for operating your new controller.
