the pressure controller and is exclusively for the operator and ex-
pert staff. The guidelines in this manual will help to avoid danger

2. Product description
The DPC200-MOD is a measuring device for low pressure of inert gas, particularly of air.
The device has both a 0...10 V signal output as well a Modbus RTU interface for digital
communication.

2.2 Intended use
The DPC200-MOD has been researched to bundle functions needed in the HVAC in-
dustry into one device. As a precise differential pressure sensor it can transmit meas-
urements for both pressure and air ow. The integrated PI control logic is an important
component in decentralized closed loop control systems, where pressure and air ow
have to be constantly controlled.The additional Modbus RTU interface is intended for the
digitalisation of industrial processes. For direct analog processing, a 0...10 V signal output
is available. This signal can be congured as a linear / square root measuring signal or as a
manipulated variable of the closed loop controller.
2.3 Functional description
A diaphragm measuring system is used as sensor element.This system consists of a thin
diaphragm, a spring adapted to the measuring range and the pressure chamber of the
housing. Combined with a differential transformer, it results in a precise, robust and dura-
ble measurement method.The evaluation takes place in the microprocessor electronics, in
which each device is individually linearized and ne-tuned to the respective measuring range.
The DPC200-MOD provides two function options:
1. Measuring device: In this mode, the determined differential pressure is shown on
the display and made available as a proportional 0...10 V DC output signal.
2. Control mode: The PI algorithm calculates the measured differential pressure against
the set point and controls the manipulated variable so that a constant pressure behav-
iour is achieved in accordance with the set point.The manipulated variable is available
as a 0...10 V DC signal.
In addition to the measured variable “differential pressure”,the measured variable “volume
ow” can also be used for measurement and control.

INSTALLATION
3. Installation
The differential pressure controller DPC200-MOD is designed for wall mounting.
• The mounting surface must be solid enough and vibration-free.
• The environment has to fulll the ambient climatic conditions as given in the technical
data.

Read the manual carefully before installation and operation
Only experienced stuff may connect the device and bring it into
operation.

3.2 Wall mounting
1. Hold the DPC200-MOD against the wall. Mark the mounting holes.
2. Drill mounting holes for properly sized screws.
3. Put the screws through the housing mounting holes.
4. Tighten screws.

4.4 Electrical connection
1. Unscrew screws of the front cover.
2. Open front cover.
3. Use M16 cable glands for connecting wiring to terminals.
4.5 Zero adjustment
The output signal offset can be zeroed from the outside with a small bar magnet.
Do not use buttons B1 or B2.
Adjustment:
• Remove the tubing from the pressure
connections.
• Hold the bar magnet (N/S) as shown here
to the zero point adjustment for a short
period of time to activate an internal reed
switch.
The new zero point will be displayed and
stored.

For operating the menu, unscrew the front cover to reach buttons B1 and B2.

5.7 Threshold calculation
NOTICE The device requires a minimum pressure to calculate a volume
ow.
Minimum pressure = 0.5 % of the product mesuring range
PRESSURE < 0.5 % measuring range = Display shows 0 m3/h
Minimal ow: V_min = √(0.005 x measuring range) x k
Maximal ow: V_max = √(measuring range) x k
Exampel: Threshold calculation
The set limit value must be between minimum and maximum ow.
As reference device we choose DPC200-MOD with a measuring range of 0...1000 Pa.
The limit value calculation formula: V = √ΔP × k
Given values:
Measuring range = 0...1000 Pa; k-factor (k) = 116; Limit value (V) = 1,200 m3/h
It follows: ΔP= (V / k)2 = (1,200 / 116)2= 107 Pa > 5 Pa = 0.5 % of the measuring range
Minimal ow: V_min = √(0.005 x 1000) x 116 = 259 m3/h
Maximal ow: V_max = √(1000) x 116 = 3,668 m3/h
Result: The limit value of 1,200 m3/h is betweenV_min and V_max and adjustable by
our DPC200-MOD (0...1000 Pa).
5.8 Function description - modbus
Hardware features:
The DPC200-MOD has two connection terminals for the Modbus, which are designated A
and B.The Modbus line of the DPC200-MOD can be terminated via a further jumper.This
jumper can be plugged into two positions: terminated or not terminated.The terminating
resistor is 120 Ohm.
Termination:
A device may only be terminated, if it is at the end of a line.Termination serves to dampen
reections of signals and the resulting harmonic oscillations.
OPERATION
Changes to the holding register are saved to the device’s eeprom.
The durability is 100000 times, and should not be exceeded.

Communication baud rate:
The communication baud rate indicates the transmission rate in bits per second. It must
be the same throughout the Modbus network.
Parity check:
The parity check is a method for error detection in binary coded data. With this method a
parity bit is sent with each byte which contains the information of modulo two. The parity
setting must be the same throughout the network.
The DPC200-MOD supports the following parity modes:
none No parity check is performed and no additional parity bit is sent.
even The parity bit is / must be HIGH, if the preceding byte modulo 2 is
equal to zero.
odd The parity bit is / must be HIGH, if the preceding byte modulo 2 is
equal to one.
none 2 stop bits No parity check is made, instead of the parity bit another stop bit
is sent.This mode is suitable for heavily disturbed connections.
Telegram structure:
A send telegram always consists of two bytes and three words.

The telegram is transmitted byte wise, only in the Modbus context, some bytes are
regarded as words.

The DPC200-MOD contains no wearing or consumable parts. Servicing is not required.
On request, Arthur Grillo GmbH offers an annual calibration with factory certicate.

Warranty and liability claims for personal and property damage are excluded if they are
caused by one or more of the following reasons:
• Improper use of the device.
• Improper installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the device.
• Unauthorized modications to the device beyond the intended use.
