INTRODUCTION.
This document helps to install Artica on an already installed computer with the Debian 10.x operating system.
WHY THIS PROCEDURE ?
This procedure fix these behavior
UEFI installation
Currently the Artica ISO is not compatible UEFI.
This procedure allows to use the standard Debian installation which is UEFI compatible.
Cloud installation
If you purchase a server with a Debian template (eg OVH ), the ISO installation did not permit to get Artica.
USB installation
Currently, you cannot translate the Artica ISO on an USB stick.
This procedure allows you to translate the Debian CD into an USB stick and perform the procedure.
REQUIREMENTS
This procedure require:
 An already Debian system version 10.x installed on the computer.
 An SSH connection as Root or a direct connection with the terminal
 An access to the Internet.
Access to internet with a proxy.
If the target machine require a proxy to access to Internet, the procedure use wget to retrieve packages.
Method 1, fix definitively the proxy:
Open the /etc/wgetrc file and put proxy parameters in this way :
Method 2, add the proxy in the environment variables
Type these commands
Proxy Authentication
If your proxy require authentication, set proxy value in this way:
check if your password has special characters, such as #, @, ...
If this is the case, escape them (for example, replace passw@rd with passw%40rd).

INSTALL THE DEBIAN OPERATING SYSTEM
If you plan to install the operating system yourself, we suggest to use the “Net-install” CD to install only the “base” system.
WHERE TO DOWNLOAD THE DEBIAN ISO ?
 Go to https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/iso-cd/
 Download the ISO file Debian-10.x.x-amd64-netinst.iso
SWITCH TO USB STICK
If you want to use an USB stick instead of writing a CD-ROM:
1. Provides an USB stick (1go minimal ) formatted with FAT32.
2. Download the tool http://articatech.net/download/win32diskimager-1.0.0-install.exe or
https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/files/latest/download for the latest one.
 Run win32diskimager
 Browse the downloaded ISO file on left part.
 Select the drive where the USB stick is connected on the
right part.
 Click on Write button.

BIOS SETTINGS
Open the bios menu of your computer
 Turn off the Secure boot if you have the option.
 We suggest to disable the Fast Boot option if you have the option
 Disable CSM if you have the option.
 Plug the USB stick or the CD-ROM and boot from it

INSTALL THE BASE DEBIAN
Choose install in the menu We suggest to use English for the main language
Choose your current location for the timezone Set USA for the locale settings
Define the language of your keyboard. Set the hostname of the server

Define the domain of your server Set the root password ( example artica ) and confirm it
Set an user that will be used to enter first on system ( example
artica )
Define the password of this new user (example artica)
On the partition disks , choose Guided: use the entire disk Choose your system disk ( do not choose the USB stick )

Choose all files in one partition Select finish partitioning and write changes to disk
Choose yes and press Enter Wait during the installation
Choose your country to define the right internet repository On the software selection, choose only SSH and standard
system utilities.

Wait during the installation Click on continue to reboot the system
INSTALL ARTICA
Logon as root and with password define during the installation
DOWNLOAD AND EXECUTE THE SETUP
Run the command
cd /root
wget http://articatech.net/download/install.tar.gz
tar xf install.tar.gz
chmod 0755 install.sh
./install.sh
Confirm the Artica installation

After few tasks, confirm the download of necessaries
Debian packages in order to make all Artica features
available.
Installation should take time.
It depends on your bandwidth and your server
performance
Once BASE DEBIAN is installed, the setup will retrieve
the Artica Firmware including pre-compiled software.

Setup will extract the main Artica Firmware
Install minimal required services such as the Web console
and the framework.
Final: configure network
At the end, the setup will ask you to reconfigure your
network for the main interface “eth0”
This setup is mandatory because after rebooting the name
interface will be switched from ensxx to ethx
In this case you will not lost your server network after the
reboot.
Now type this command to reboot the system:
reboot
