WARNING: Read all instructions before installing and operating your oven. Failure to follow
the instructions may result in property damage, oven damage, bodily injury or even death.
A fire may result if the oven is not installed correctly and the correct distances to combustible materials
are not maintained. It is essential to only use building and insulation materials designed for the purpose.
The correct distances are in this manual.
Use proper safety equipment , including gloves and breathing equipment when installing this oven.
The oven can reach high temperatures. Use pizza oven tools or heat proof long sleeve gloves to reach
into the oven.
Use firewood for burning only. Maple and alder are recommended woods . Use kindling size pieces to
maintain a clean burning fire. The drier the wood the better the oven will work and the least smoke will
be produced.
Do not use fir or other resinous woods and do not use any liquid fuels to start or maintain the fire.
Do not burn rubbish, pressure treated lumber, laminated wood or wet wood .
Keep children and pets away from a hot oven.
Dispose of ashes using a metal shovel and place in a metal container with a tight fitted lid. The container
should be stored on a non combustible surface away from all combustible material. Dispose of ash only
when completely cold.
Do not fully close the oven door when there is a fire in the oven. This will cause a build up of flammable
wood gas which will cause the fire to erupt when the door is removed.
The door can be angled slightly in the entrance to allow air to enter the oven and retain more heat from
the fire.
Do not use water to dampen or extinguish the fire as this will cause thermal shock to the structure.
Although your oven has been through a curing procedure , it is good practice to gradually bring the oven
up to operating temperatures by slowly increasing the fire size.
If the oven has not been used in a while ie over winter, gradual heating of the oven is essential to dry
out moisture absorbed from the atmosphere.
