INPUT - There is a single instrument input provided linked to a PASSIVE/
ACTIVE selector switch. The Passive input (switch out) is high sensitivity
and also high impedance to suit the output from PASSIVE basses. The
Active input (switch in) is low sensitivity and lower impedance to suit the
output from ACTIVE basses.
INPUT CONTROL - The INPUT control sets the signal level through the
preamp in conjunction with the INPUT LEVEL VU Meter. This is adjusted
to give a reading of 0VU on the meter for average playing dynamics with
occasional peaks into the red region. Please note that the setting of this
may have to be re-adjusted after modication of the EQ controls.
PUSH FLAT / SHAPE - With this button in its OUT position a xed E.Q. is
superimposed on the preamp to give a bright but punchy character to
the sound. Pushing this button IN returns the preamp to a Flat frequency
response.
This function may also be controlled from a footswitch. For the footswitch
to operate this button must be in its OUT position.
VALVE DRIVE PLUS - This routes the signal either through a clean
Solid State amplication section (control on zero) or through a Dual
Triode Tube amplication/overdrive section in order to add either tonal
character i.e. warmth with the control set at 9 o’clock, a slight edge in the
sound at 12 0’clock through to an increasing degree of Tube distortion/
overdrive as the control is advanced to maximum.

A Mix of these two amplication sections can be achieved with this
control.
N.B. The degree of tube distortion provided by this control will also depend on the setting of the
INPUT control.
VALVE DRIVE IN/OUT - This push button switches the valve drive section
IN or OUT. This function may also be controlled from the Ashdown 4 way
footswitch. For the footswitch to operate this button must be in its OUT
position.
E.Q. IN / OUT - This push button switches the Equalisation section IN or
OUT i.e. the Bass, Middle and Treble controls plus the two sets of sliders
placed between each of these.
This function may also be controlled from the Ashdown 4 way footswitch.
For the footswitch to operate this button must be in its OUT position.
9 BAND EQUALISATION - This consists of BASS, MIDDLE and TREBLE
controls with three sliders placed between each control. This can be used
in a number of ways:
Firstly as a very simple Bass, Middle and Treble tone control section as
found on older traditional ampliers. This is done by leaving the two sets
of sliders interposed between these controls set in their centre positions
and using only the BASS, MIDDLE and TREBLE controls to alter the overall
tone.

Secondly, if more control is required then the sliders can also be used
to tailor the E.Q. in the regions between the main tone controls. This
provides a very versatile Equalisation section, it is simple to understand
and operate, yet provides a wide degree of variation. It retains the
simplicity of a three- control tone section but provides the exibility of a
graphic equaliser.
DYNAMIC COMPRESSION – Adding a small amount of compression
gives a fat bottom end to the sound and allows a greater volume of
amplication to be used without the playing peaks distorting the
ampliers output stage. You will also nd that this will add denition to
your playing bringing out notes within a run more clearly as it evens out
the dynamics of your playing.
A large amount of compression can be used as an effect but it will tend
to reduce the dynamics in your playing to such an extent that the volume
of the note will be the same no matter how hard or soft you hit the string.
Compression also adds sustain to notes making them longer before they
die away.
The Compression Level control adjusts the degree of compression
applied to the bass signal. For this to function correctly the Input Level
must be correctly set as described in the INPUT CONTROL section (left).
When the Input Level is correctly set there will be hardly any difference in
volume between Compression IN and Compression OUT. This is because
the amplier automatically compensates for the reduction in level that

would be apparent when Compression is added by increasing the overall
gain to restore the volume to its pre compression level, because of this
you may notice an increase in background noise with high compression
settings.
COMPRESSION IN/OUT – This push button switches the Compression
IN or OUT. This function may also be controlled from the Ashdown 4 way
footswitch. For the footswitch to operate this button must be in its OUT
position.
SUB HARMONICS - This section produces Sub Harmonics an octave
below the notes being played. The level of these Sub Harmonics relative
to the straight bass sound can be adjusted using the LEVEL control.
This is very effective in thickening the sound and you will nd in use that
only a small degree of this lower octave is required to really ll out the
sound and provide a character that is not possible by any other means.
The degree of Sub Harmonics is also dependant on the setting of the
BASS control.
DIRECT INJECT (D.I.) - A balanced D.I. is provided on a latching XLR
socket. This has a push button placed below it that allows the user to
choose either a Pre E.Q. signal (button pushed IN) or a Post E.Q. Post Sub
and effects signal (button OUT).
The output signal from this XLR socket is set to a level and impedance
suitable for connecting directly into the Microphone input of a mixing

desk for either Direct Injection into the PA system or for recording. This
must ONLY be used into a Balanced Microphone input, it is not intended
for any other type of connection.
This has a oating ground that is referenced to the mixing console it is
plugged into and should not need ground lifting. It is also unaffected by
Phantom Powering on the Microphone input.
Make sure your XLR plug does not have the shell of the plug internally
connected to signal ground or this will connect the system to chassis
ground of the ABM and may cause problems with hum.
PUSH TO MUTE - When pushed IN this button mutes the output from
the preamp to the power amp, mutes the output from the D.I. socket and
mutes the output from the LINE Out socket as well. This leaves the output
from the TUNER socket still available to allow muted tuning.
A blue LED is provided next to this switch to indicate when the amplier
is muted. This function operates only from the front panel MUTE push
switch. i.e. pressing this button mutes all sound from the amplier and
allows a tuner connected to the TUNER socket to operate for silent
tuning. Release the button and you are back in action again.
TUNER OUT - This output socket provides a line level signal that can be
used for a permanent connection to a tuner.

The signal from this socket remains when all other outputs from the
amplier are Muted allowing all sound from the amplier to be silenced
while tuning is in progress.
LINE OUT -This output socket provides a line level/post Output Level
control signal for connection to an external power amplier driving
additional speaker cabinets.
OUTPUT LEVEL - The OUTPUT control adjusts the overall level of the
amplier. Adjust this for your preferred overall stage playing volume.
LINE INPUT - The rear panel has a Line Input socket for connection of
other signal sources into the system. This can be used for plugging a CD,
Tape or MP3 player into the amplier for practising, rehearsing or for
connection of a second pre-amp into the system.
EFFECTS SEND / RETURN - A serial effects loop is provided at a level of
0dB. The EFFECTS SEND socket can also be used as a Line Out socket
if required as the signal path through the preamp is only broken when a
jack plug is inserted into the EFFECTS RETURN socket.
The EFFECTS SEND is situated after the EQ, the Valve section the
Compression and the Sub Bass Processor.

4-WAY FOOTSWITCH SOCKET - For the 4 way footswitch to operate it is
essential that the corresponding front panel push buttons be in the OUT
position.
This is a mono jack socket for connection of the Ashdown 4 way
footswitch (sold separately) only. Always connect this prior to turning
on the power to the amplier as the footswitch derives its power from
the amplier and sends a serial data stream to the amplier in order to
operate the various functions.
Each of the 4 facilities available for selection is indicated by an LED that
will light when that facility is selected from the footswitch.
SPEAKER OUTPUT - The Speaker Output sockets are also situated on
the rear panel of the unit. The ABM-600H & RC has one power section
rated at 600 Watts RMS with two Neutrik combi speakon out-puts.The
ABM-1200H has two power sections rated at 600 Watts RMS each with
two Neutrik combi speakon out-puts per power section, labelled A & B.
You can either use Speakons or Jack Speaker cables to connect to your
cabinet. Each Power section has a minimum load of 4 ohms.

ENTRÉE - Il y a une entrée d’instrument unique fournie liée à un commutateur
de sélecteur PASSIF/ACTIF. L’entrée passive (switch out) est haute sensibilité
et aussi une grande impedance pour convenir à la sortie des basses PASSIVE.
L’entrée active (switch in) est faible sensibilité et moins d’impedance pour
convenir à la sortie des basses ACTIVE.
CONTRÔLE DES ENTRÉES - Le contrôle d’entrée dénit le niveau de signal à
travers le préampli en conjonction avec le compteur VU NIVEAU D’ENTRÉE.
Ceci est ajusté pour donner une lecture de 0VU sur le compteur pour la
dynamique moyenne de jeu avec des pics occasionnels dans la région rouge.
Veuillez noter que le réglage de ce système peut devoir être réajusté après
modication des contrôles de QE.
POUSSER PLAT / FORME - Avec ce bouton dans sa position OUT, un E.Q.
xe est superposé sur le préampli pour donner un caractère lumineux mais
punchy au son. En appuyant sur ce bouton IN renvoie le préampli à une
réponse de fréquence plate.
Cette fonction peut également être contrôlée à partir d’une contraction du
pied. Pour que le footswitch fonctionne ce bouton doit être dans sa position
OUT.
VALVE DRIVE PLUS - Cela ad traverse le signal soit par une section
d’amplication à l’état solide propre (contrôle à zéro) soit par une section
d’amplication/overdrive dual triode tube an d’ajouter soit un caractère
tonal, c’est-à-dire de la chaleur avec le contrôle réglé à 9 heures, un léger
bord dans le son à 12 0’clock jusqu’à un degré croissant de distorsion du
tube / overdrive que le contrôle est avancé au maximum.

Un mélange de ces deux sections d’amplication peut être réalisé avec ce
contrôle.
N.b.. Le degré de distorsion du tube fourni par ce contrôle dépendra également du réglage du contrôle INPUT.
SOUPAPE CONDUIRE DANS/DEHORS - Ce bouton poussoir change la
section d’entraînement de la vanne à l’extérieur ou à l’extérieur. Cette fonction
peut également être contrôlée à partir de l’Ashdown 4 façon footswitch.
Pour que le footswitch fonctionne ce bouton doit être dans sa position OUT.
E.Q. DANS / DEHORS - Ce bouton poussoir change la section d’égalisation
IN ou OUT c’est-à-dire les contrôles Bass, Middle et Treble ainsi que les deux
ensembles de curseurs placés entre chacun d’eux.
Cette fonction peut également être contrôlée à partir de l’Ashdown 4 façon
footswitch. Pour que le footswitch fonctionne ce bouton doit être dans sa
position OUT.
9 ÉGALISATION DE BANDE - Ceci se compose des commandes de BASSE,
DE MILIEU et d’AIGUS avec trois curseurs placés entre chaque commande.
Cela peut être utilisé de plusieurs façons :
Tout d’abord comme une section de contrôle des tonalités basses, moyennes
et aiguës très simple comme on le trouve sur les anciens amplicateurs
traditionnels. Ceci est fait en laissant les deux ensembles de curseurs
interposés entre ces commandes dénies dans leurs positions de centre et
en utilisant uniquement les contrôles BASS, MIDDLE et TREBLE pour modier
le ton global.

Deuxièmement, si plus de contrôle est nécessaire, les curseurs peuvent
également être utilisés pour adapter l’E.Q. dans les régions entre les
commandes de tonalité principale. Cela fournit une section de péréquation
très polyvalente, il est simple à comprendre et à utiliser, mais fournit un large
degré de variation. Il conserve la simplicité d’une section de trois tons de
contrôle, mais offre la exibilité d’un égaliseur graphique.
COMPRESSION DYNAMIQUE – L’ajout d’une petite quantité de
compression donne une extrémité inférieure de graisse au son et permet
un plus grand volume d’amplication à utiliser sans que les pics de jeu
déforment la scène de sortie des amplicateurs. Vous constaterez également
que cela ajoutera une dénition à votre jeu en faisant ressortir les notes dans
une course plus clairement car il evens out la dynamique de votre jeu.
Une grande quantité de compression peut être utilisée comme un effet, mais
il aura tendance à réduire la dynamique dans votre jeu à un point tel que le
volume de la note sera le même, peu importe comment dur ou doux vous
frappez la corde. La compression ajoute également du sustain aux notes qui
les font plus longtemps avant qu’elles ne meurent.
Le contrôle du niveau de compression ajuste le degré de compression
appliqué au signal de basse. Pour que cela fonctionne correctement, le
niveau d’entrée doit être correctement déni tel que décrit dans la section
CONTRÔLE DES ENTRÉES (à gauche).
Lorsque le niveau d’entrée est correctement déni, il n’y aura pratiquement
aucune différence de volume entre Compression IN et Compression OUT.
C’est parce que l’amplicateur compense automatiquement la réduction

de niveau qui serait apparente lorsque la compression est ajoutée en
augmentant le gain global pour restaurer le volume à son niveau de pré-
compression, pour cette raison, vous pouvez remarquer une augmentation
du bruit de fond avec des paramètres de compression élevés.
COMPRESSION DANS / DEHORS – Ce bouton poussoir change la
compression à l’extérieur ou à l’extérieur. Cette fonction peut également être
contrôlée à partir de l’Ashdown 4 façon footswitch. Pour que le footswitch
fonctionne ce bouton doit être dans sa position OUT.
SOUS-HARMONIQUES - Cette section produit sub harmoniques une octave
en dessous des notes jouées. Le niveau de ces Sub Harmonics par rapport au
son de basse droite peut être ajusté à l’aide du contrôle LEVEL.
C’est très efcace pour épaissir le son et vous constaterez en utilisation que
seul un petit degré de cette octave inférieure est nécessaire pour vraiment
remplir le son et fournir un caractère qui n’est pas possible par d’autres
moyens. Le degré de Sub Harmonics dépend également du réglage du
contrôle BASS.
INJECTION DIRECTE (D.I.) - Un D.I. équilibré est fourni sur une prise XLR
verrouillée. Il s’agit d’un bouton poussoir placé en dessous qui permet à
l’utilisateur de choisir soit un signal Pré E.Q. (bouton appuyé dedans) ou un
post E.Q. Post Sub et un signal d’effets (bouton OUT).
Le signal de sortie de cette prise XLR est réglé à un niveau et une impédance
appropriés pour se connecter directement à l’entrée microphone d’une table
de mixage pour injection directe dans le système de sonorisation ou pour

l’enregistrement. Cela ne doit être utilisé que dans une entrée microphone
équilibré, il n’est pas destiné à tout autre type de connexion.
Cela a un sol ottant qui est référencé à la console de mixage, il est branché
et ne devrait pas avoir besoin de levage au sol. Il n’est pas non plus affecté
par phantom powering sur l’entrée microphone.
Assurez-vous que votre prise XLR n’a pas la coque de la che à l’intérieur
connecté au sol de signal ou cela reliera le système au sol du châssis de
l’ABM et peut causer des problèmes avec le bourdonnement.
POUSSER À COUPER LE SON - Lorsqu’il est poussé dans ce bouton coupe
la sortie de la préampli à l’ampli de puissance, coupe la sortie de la prise D.I.
et coupe la sortie de la prise LINE Out ainsi. Cela laisse la sortie de la prise
TUNER toujours disponible pour permettre le réglage en sourdine.
Une LED bleue est fournie à côté de ce commutateur pour indiquer quand
l’amplicateur est coupé. Cette fonction fonctionne uniquement à partir du
panneau avant MUTE push switch. C’est-à-dire appuyer sur ce bouton coupe
tous les sons de l’amplicateur et permet à un accordeur connecté à la prise
TUNER de fonctionner pour un réglage silencieux. Relâchez le bouton et vous
êtes de nouveau en action.
ACCORDEUR DEHORS - Cette prise de sortie fournit un signal de niveau de
ligne qui peut être utilisé pour une connexion permanente à un accordeur.
Le signal de cette prise reste lorsque toutes les autres sorties de

l’amplicateur sont mutées permettant de réduire au silence tout le son de
l’amplicateur pendant le réglage.
LIGNE DEHORS -Cette prise de sortie fournit un signal de contrôle niveau
de sortie/post de ligne pour la connexion à un amplicateur de puissance
externe conduisant des armoires de haut-parleur supplémentaires.
NIVEAU DE SORTIE - Le contrôle output ajuste le niveau global de
l’amplicateur. Ajustez ceci pour votre volume global préféré de jeu de scène.
ENTRÉE DE LIGNE - Le panneau arrière a une prise d’entrée de ligne pour
la connexion d’autres sources de signal dans le système. Cela peut être
utilisé pour brancher un lecteur CD, Tape ou MP3 dans l’amplicateur pour la
pratique, les répétitions ou pour la connexion d’un deuxième pré-ampli dans
le système.
EFFETS ENVOYER / RENDRE - Une boucle d’effets de série est fournie à un
niveau de 0dB. La prise EFFECTS SEND peut également être utilisée comme
prise Line Out si nécessaire car le chemin de signal à travers le préampli
n’est cassé que lorsqu’un bouchon de prise est inséré dans la prise EFFETS
RETURN.
L’EFFET ENVOYER est situé après l’Égaliseur, la section Valve la Compression
et le Processeur Sub Bass.

fonctionne, il est essentiel que les boutons poussoirs correspondants du
panneau avant soient en position OUT.
Il s’agit d’une prise mono jack pour la connexion de l’Ashdown 4 façon
footswitch (vendu séparément) seulement. Connectez-le toujours avant
d’allumer la puissance à l’amplicateur lorsque le footswitch tire sa puissance
de l’amplicateur et envoie un ux de données en série à l’amplicateur an
de faire fonctionner les différentes fonctions.
Chacune des 4 installations disponibles pour la sélection est indiquée par
une LED qui s’allume lorsque cette installation est sélectionnée à partir de la
passerelle.
SORTIE HAUT-PARLEUR - Les prises de sortie du haut-parleur sont
également situées sur le panneau arrière de l’appareil. L’ABM-600H & RC a
une section de puissance évalué à 600 Watts RMS avec deux Neutrik combi
speakon out-puts. L’ABM-1200H a deux sections de puissance évaluées
à 600 Watts RMS chacune avec deux Neutrik combi speakon out-puts
par section de puissance, étiquetéE A & B. Vous pouvez utiliser des câbles
Speakons ou Jack Speaker pour vous connecter à votre armoire. Chaque
section Power a une charge minimale de 4 ohms.
