CLX-51/CLX-52
The unit shall be a single (CLX-51) or dual (CLX-52) channel com-
pressor limiter with independent gain, threshold, ratio, attack,
release, and output level adjustments. It shall have a detector patch
point allowing for the connection of an external equalizer in the
detector loop to produce frequency selective limiting; or allows the
connection of an external microphone source to produce voice-
over-compression. It shall have front panel mounted switches for
engaging/defeating the compressor/limiter functions. It shall have
front panel switches for selecting input or output meter display. It
shall have both XLR and 1/4 connectors on inputs and outputs.
Performance specifications shall meet or exceed the following:
Gain control shall be +/- 15dB. Threshold shall be adjustable from
-40dB to +22dB. Ratio shall be adjustable from 2:1 to infinity.
Attack time shall be adjustable from 200uSec to 20mSec. Release
time shall be adjustable from 100mSec to 3 seconds. the output
level shall be adjustable from minus infinity to +18dBu. The maxi-
mum in-out level shall be +23dBu. The input impedance shall be
20K ohm balanced bridging. The output impedance shall be 200
ohm quasi-balanced. The frequency response shall be 20Hz to
20KHz, +/-0.2dB. Distortion shall be <0.01% THD, 1KHz @0dBu,
and <0.15% THD @ +15dBu from 20Hz to 20KHz. Hum and
noise shall not exceed -96dBu @ unity gain. The unit shall operate
at 115VAC +/-5%, 50-60Hz. The unit shall be designed for mount-
ing in a standard EIA 19 rack (19L x 1.75H x 6D) and shall
have a shipping weight of 8 lbs. The unit shall either be a model
CLX-51 (single channel) or a CLX-52 (dual channel) Compressor
Limiter manufactured by Ashly Audio, Inc. No other unit shall be
acceptable unless submitted data from and independent research
lab verifies that the above size/performances specifications are met.
