Vehicle Security
Introduction
This vehicle is protected by an electronic security system which
sounds an alarm and flashes lights when forcible entry is detected.
The alarm is triggered in the following situations:
• A locked door is unlocked or opened in any way other than using
the vehicle key
• The bonnet is opened whilst the vehicle is locked
• The rear window is tapped or broken
• The battery is reconnected
Vehicle protection is enhanced by a Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
which provides engine immobilisation if the wrong vehicle key is
used.
Vehicle Key
The vehicle is supplied with two vehicle keys and one
key number plate.
The driver should always carry the vehicle key.
Keep the spare key and the key number plate in a safe
place. Do not leave a vehicle key in the vehicle when unattended.
If the vehicle key battery is depleted or
the entry function does not operate
properly, you will need the mechanical
key. To take out the mechanical key push
the release button and take the key out.
After using the mechanical key, store it in
the electronic key.
If a vehicle key is lost, contact your
Aston Martin Dealer.
'Reduce the impact of electromagnetic waves, please apply proper
use'
Keyless Entry and Start
The vehicle can be locked and unlocked simply by carrying the
vehicle key on your person, for example in your pocket.
The two vehicle keys incorporate the keyless entry and start system.
When locking or unlocking the doors, the system can be operated
when the vehicle key is within about 0.7 m of an outside door handle
(Refer to ’Unlocking and Opening’, page 2.3).

Vehicle Security
Vehicle Key Security Functions
[1] LOCK - Press and release for one
step vehicle locking and to arm the
security system.
[2] UNLOCK - Press and release for
one step vehicle unlocking.
Unlocking and Opening
With the vehicle key on your
person, stand within 0.7 m of
the door and grip the handle to
unlock the vehicle, making
sure to touch the sensor on the
back of the handle. To show
that the security system has
been disarmed, the direction
indicators will flash twice. All
vehicle doors will unlock.
The door cannot be unlocked for three seconds after the door is
locked.
If a door is opened whilst driving a warning sound will be heard until
the door is closed.
The doors may not be unlocked when a door handle is operated
quickly, or if you suddenly enter the operating range of the exterior
antenna and operate a door handle. In this case, return the door
handle to its original position, unlock the doors again, and then check
that the doors are unlocked before pulling the door handle.
When taking hold of a door handle whilst wearing gloves, the
unlocking response may become slow or the doors may not be
unlocked.
If there is another vehicle key in the operating range, the response
time to unlock the doors after a door handle is taken hold of may
become longer.
As the vehicle is unlocked, the interior lamp will come ON. The
lamp will go OFF 15 seconds after doors are closed or when the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode,
whichever is sooner.

2.4
Vehicle Security
Locking
Make sure that the doors and
the tailgate are closed (the
vehicle will not lock if a door is
left open). With the vehicle key
on your person, stand within
0.7 m of the door and touch
the lock sensor (1) to lock the
vehicle.
Alternatively, stand within 0.7
m of the tailgate and touch the
lock button (2).
The direction indicators will
flash once as the security
system is armed.
Automatic Re-locking
If the vehicle is locked and then
unlocked but a door or the tailgate is not opened within
approximately 30 seconds, the vehicle will automatically lock and
arm again.
Master Locks
The doors and the tailgate may
be unlocked (1) or locked (2)
by using the master lock
switch.
If the vehicle is locked using
the master lock switch, one
pull of the driver's door handle
will open the door. The
passenger's door cannot be
opened without unlocking the vehicle using the vehicle key or the
master lock switch.
The master lock switch will not operate if the vehicle has been locked
from the outside.
In the event of a vehicle accident the doors will automatically
unlock.
Fuel Flap Release
To open the fuel tank cap pull
up the fuel filler door opener
(located to the left of the
driver's seat). Before refuelling
the vehicle make sure that the
doors and windows are closed
and turn the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch OFF.

Vehicle Security
Tailgate
To Open the Tailgate
With the vehicle key on your
person, stand within 0.7 m of
the tailgate and then lift the
tailgate whilst pressing and
holding the unlock button.
If the vehicle is locked and
armed the security system will
disarm and the direction
indicators will flash twice when
the tailgate is opened. The
doors will stay locked.
To Close the Tailgate
Lower the tailgate using the
tailgate handle, and make sure
to push the tailgate down from
the outside to close it.
Always make sure that the
tailgate is securely closed after
use.
Deadlocking
Never activate the deadlocking system when there are people
in the vehicle. The doors cannot be opened from inside the
vehicle.
Unauthorised access to the
vehicle is prevented by
disabling the door unlocking
function from both the interior
and exterior of the vehicle.
Vehicles employing this system
have labels on the window
glass of the doors.
To set the deadlocking system
turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF, have all of the
passengers exit the vehicle and make sure that the doors are closed.
Then, with the vehicle key on your person, touch the lock sensor on
the outside handle or press the lock button on the tailgate, twice
within five seconds. Alternatively, press the LOCK button on the
vehicle key twice within five seconds.
To open the doors hold the outside door handle on the driver's side.
Alternatively, press the UNLOCK button on the vehicle key.

Vehicle Security
Alarm
To set the alarm close the doors, the tailgate and the bonnet, and
then lock the doors using the lock sensor on the door handle, the lock
button on the tailgate, or the LOCK button on the vehicle key. The
system will be set automatically after 30 seconds.
The indicator light on the instrument cluster changes from
being ON to flashing when the system is set.
Stop the alarm at any time by pressing the UNLOCK button on the
vehicle key.
Passive Anti-Theft System
The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) is a fully automatic engine
immobiliser.
If a vehicle key is lost, a duplicate key can be created and
programmed from the spare key by your Aston Martin Dealer.
Starting the Engine
When the security system is disarmed, the vehicle key is within range
and the “START STOP SWITCH” is turned to ACCESSORY or
IGNITION ON mode, the PATS controller sends a signal to the
vehicle key. The vehicle key must respond with a valid code before
engine start will be enabled. If a valid code is received, the ignition
system will operate normally. If the vehicle key code is not received,
or is invalid, engine start stays disabled.
PATS Status
The PATS system state is shown
by the symbol on the
instrument cluster (1).
Ignition Action (Valid code)
ON Symbol comes ON for three seconds.
OFF Symbol will flash continuously.

2.7
Vehicle Security
Fault Mode
If the status symbol continues flashing when the “START STOP SWITCH” is set to IGNITION ON, the
vehicle will stay immobilised.
Should this situation arise try switching the “START STOP SWITCH” to OFF, and then back to IGNITION
ON. If this is unsuccessful try the spare key. If successful, get a replacement for the faulty vehicle key. If
problems continue with the vehicle key, consult your Aston Martin Dealer.
Personalisation
A number of security functions can be personalised. Programming these preferences requires specialised
equipment and may be performed by an Aston Martin Dealer.
Some function settings are changed simultaneously when other functions are personalised.
