Unpacking Your Game
Congratulations on your ATARI® Video Computer System™ game pur-
chase. To enjoy this great new game to the fullest, we suggest you
read this Owner’s Manual thoroughly before beginning to play. When
you unpack your game you will have:

Assemble Console
Assembling your Video Computer System is very easy. Simply follow
these instructions:

m Disconnect the antenna cable
from your television. Connect the
antenna cable from your ATARI
Video Computer System game to
your television’s antenna input.
m Attach the controllers by plug-
ging them into the CONTROLLER
jacks at the back of the console.
The controller plugs are designed
to fit only one way. Do not try to
force the plugs into the jacks.
NOTE: Some games require
Joystick Controllers and some
games require Paddle Con-
trollers. A few games require
Keyboard and Driving Con-
trollers, which may be purchased
separately. Use the Joystick Con-
trollers with the COMBAT Game
Program™ cartridge.

may use these switches for other

m To watch regular television pro-
gramming, you must reconnect
your normal antenna to your televi-
sion. First, be certain the POWER
switch on the console is OFF.
Then, disconnect the antenna cable
from your ATARI Video Computer
System game and reconnect your
norma! antenna to your television.
Finally, remove the power supply
from the wall socket and plug your
television in.
Maintenance
Your ATARI Video Computer System game will bring you many years
of enjoyment. In order to keep your game in good working condition,
please remember the following points:
m Always turn the POWER switch
on the console OFF before inser-
ting or removing an ATARI Game
Program cartridge.
m Do not try to force Game Pro-
gram cartridges into the console.
m Your ATARI Game Program car-
tridges are protected from normal
wear and tear because they are ful-
ly enclosed. However, care should
be taken not to spill liquids on
them.
m Do not lift the console unit or the
controllers by the connecting wires.
mw Be careful not to drop the con-
sole unit, controllers, or cartridges
on any hard surface.

m Do not expose the console unit,
controllers, or cartridges to ex-
cessive or extreme heat.
m Always turn the ATARI Video
Computer System to OFF and
unplug the power supply from the
wall outlet when not in use.
m Use of any power supply other
than that designed for use with
your ATARI Video Computer System
can cause damage to the console
unit.
m Clean the exterior parts with a
soft, slightly damp cloth.
Troubleshooting
Your ATARI Video Computer System game will bring you many hours
of entertainment and enjoyment. If you should experience any trouble
with the game, check the following symptoms for probable cause and
remedy.

No playfield appears on the screen,
or the screen is a whitish-grey
