Product Overview
Window intercom systems provide assistance for clear communication where
normal speech is impaired by use of glass, a security screen or other similar
barriers.
There is an optional hearing loop facility, providing additional assistance for
hearingdevicewearers.

Installation Instructions
A basic toolkit recommended to install the system will include:
Trim cables if necessary (excluding the power supply)
to the required length to connect to the back of the
amplier.Bareapproximately6mmofthecableendsto
connecttothe2pinplugs.
• Wire Cutters/Strippers
• Tape Measure
• Pencil or Marker Pen
• Cable Ties
• Trunking
• Screwdrivers(FlatorBlade2.5mm
and Phillips Head PH2)
• BatteryorMainsDrill
• Drillbits: 2mm, 3mm, 5mm and 7mm
• Cable Tacking Gun (10mm)

1. Placetheamplierunderthestacounter,ensuringthatitwillnot
obstructstawhentheyaresitting.
2. Markthefourxingpointsfortheamplierunderthecounter.

Microphone & Speaker Installation
1. Placethestapodonthestasideofthecountertop,ensuringitdoes
notcauseanobstructionandisasclosetostaaspossible.
2. Place the speaker pod on the customer side of the counter top, ensuring it
doesnotcauseanobstruction.
3. Place a mouse microphone on the customer/
visitor side of the counter top, ensuring it
does not cause an obstruction and is as close
tocustomers/visitorsaspossible.
For best performance all mouse microphones
shouldbettedfacingtheuserasshownin
4. Speakerpodsandstapodscanbeeitherfreestandingorxed.Moveto
step10ifyoudonotwishtoxthepodstothecounter.
5. Usecablemanagementholesinthecountertorunthestapod,speaker
pod,andmousemicrophonecablestotheamplier.Iftherearenot
already cable management holes, drill suitable locations near the rear of
boththestaandcustomersidesofthecounter.
6. Removethetopofthepodstogainaccesstothexingpoints.
7. Markthetwoxingpointsonthebottomofbothpods.Thenmarktwo

cable holes to be drilled, one for both the customer/visitor side and the
staside.
8. Ensuretherewillbeaccesstoretrievethecablesthendrilltheholes.
9. Fixthepodstotheirrespectivecounters.
10. Toxthemousemicrophonetoasurface,usetheprovideddouble-sided
xingpadorscrewthroughthescrew-holeinitscap.
11. Feedthewiresthroughthecablemanagementholes.
12. Avoidlooseortrailingcables.Usetrunkingortopreventtriphazardsor
unitsbeingtuggedfromtheirposition.
13. Routeallcablingneatlytotheamplierlocationonthestaside.

Theaerialshouldbexedunderthedesk-toporcountercentrallyonthe
customerorvisitorside,onehalfmountedhorizontallyunderthecounterand
theotherhalfmountedvertically,facingthecustomer/visitor(asintherst
scenariobelow).
Position the aerial under the counter using either the provided P-clips
oranotherxingmethodofyourchoice.Seethediagrambelowfor
recommendedpositioning.
Aistheoptimumlayoutforacounterhearingloop.
BandCareacceptableonlyifAisnotpossibleandthelayoutisalignedso
thatthemagneticeldwillbedirectedtowardsuser’sheadheights.
Ensureallhearingloopsignageisdisplayedclearly.

AmplierSetup
1. Connectallgreenplugstothebackoftheamplier,followingthe
locationsprintedabovethesockets(seepage4).
2. PowerontheamplierbypressingtheOn/Obutton.
3. Whenpoweredandinnormaloperationalmodetheamplierwilldisplay
VolumeInLED1andVolumeOutLED1assteadygreen.
4. Whentheamplierisswitchedo,allaudioismutedandnoneofthe
LEDsareilluminated.Pressinganybuttonwillturntheamplieronagain.
5. AdjustVolumeInandVolumeOuttoacomfortablelevel.
6. Press and hold the Volume In (+) or (-) buttons to increase or decrease the
level.ThecorrespondingLEDbarwillshowthevolumesetting.
6. Ensure the mouse microphones are placed as close to their intended
usersaspossible.
7. Checktheamplierisfullyfunctionalbyensuringthered‘fault’lightis
NOTshowingonthefront.
8. The Amplifier is now set up.
OurWindowIntercomSystemampliersarepre-settovolumelevels
suitablefornearlyallusers.ShouldyouneedtoadjusttheMaximum
Volume,DuckingorHearingLooplevelsoutsideofthepre-setamplier
parameters,useEngineer’sMode(seepage13).

Factory Default Settings
Toreturntheamplierthefactorydefaultsettings:
1. Unplugthepowersupplyandthenreconnectit.
2. PresstheOn/ObuttonandVolumeIn(-)buttontogether,thenrelease.
3. The Volume In LED bar will have all LEDs illuminated, while the Volume
OutLEDbarwilldisplaythermwarerevisionnumberinaxedpattern
ofLEDs.Thisindicatesthatdefaultsettingshavebeenrestored.
Fault Diagnosis LEDs
• Volume In LED 8 will stay red if there is a
faultwiththestamicrophone.
• Volume Out LED 8 will stay red if there is a
faultwiththecustomer/visitormicrophone.
• VolumeInLED8willashredifthereisa
faultwiththeloop(e.g.abrokenaerial).

Engineer’s Mode
BeforeenteringEngineer’sMode,cyclethepower.Todothiseither:
• Switchthepoweroatthemainssocketandbackonagain
• Remove the power connector and re-insert it
To enter Engineer’s Mode, simultaneously press and release the following
buttons within 20 seconds of cycling the power:
• Settings button
• Volume In increase button
• Volume Out increase button
Number1LEDontheVolumeInwillashgreentoindicatethatyouarein
Engineer’sMode.
Theon/oandsettingsbuttonsinEngineer’sModeoperateasfollows:
Save and exit Engineer’s Mode
Move to the next setup area
TheamplierwillautomaticallyexitEngineer’sModeifnobuttonsare
pressedfor2minutes.
Thereare3editablesetupareasinEngineer’sMode.Youwillalwaysenter
setuparea1rst.ThegreenVolumeInLEDbarwillashtoindicatewhich
setupareayouarein.
Setup Area 1:
Maximum Volume Adjustment (LED 1 flashes)
Setup Area 1 allows you to adjust the Volume In and Volume Out levels to
furtheroptimisethesystemfortheenvironmentinwhichitisinstalled.
Engineers Mode allows you to adjust the Volume In and Out levels, Ducking
levels and Hearing Loop levels to better suit your environment and achieve
thebestpossibleperformance.

1. Ensurethecustomerandstavolumesareturnedcompletelydown.
2. Adjuststa(VolumeIn)volumetoacomfortablelevel.Pressandhold
theVolumeIn(+)or(-)buttonstoincreaseordecreasethelevel.The
correspondingLEDbarwillshowthevolumesetting.
3. Increasecustomer(VolumeOut)volumeuntilfeedbackisheard.Press
and hold the Volume Out (+) or (-) buttons to increase or decrease the
level.ThecorrespondingLEDbarwillshowthevolumesetting.
4. Decreasecustomer(VolumeOut)volumeuntilfeedbackiseliminated.
Setup Area 2:
Ducking Adjustment (LED 2 flashes)
SetupArea2allowsyoutoadjusttheDuckinglevelortoturniton/o.
The ducking function is provided to reduce feedback on a window intercom
system.Feedbackoccurswhentheoverallsettingofbothvolumecontrols
istoohigh.Theduckingsystemworksbydetectingwhichmicrophoneinthe
conversationisbeingused,andtemporarilyreducingthevolumesetting.

The drive levels should be adjusted so the red LED 8 is illuminated only when
therearepeaksinthespeechvolume.
Iftheamplierdoesnothavealoopattached,turntheHearingLoopDriveo
asindicatedinthediagramabove.

SetupArea3allowsyoutoadjusttheHearingLoopDriveortoturniton/o.
Hearing loops improve communication by enabling hearing device users to
hearsoundsourcesdirectly,cuttingoutbackgroundnoise.
