ISTRUZIONI ED APPLICAZIONI
Il Crosspole è un dispositivo telescopico orizzontale idoneo a sorreggere carichi, concepito
per l’utilizzo fra due pareti. È efficace per portare carichi quali sistemi d’illuminazione fino
ad un massimo di 75kg, ideale per studi fotografici e cinematografici e per allestire set di
ripresa in trasferta.

INSTRUCTIONS AND APPLICATIONS
The Crosspole is a telescopic device for horizontal payload support, designed to be used
between 2 walls. Effective for supporting lighting equipment up to 75kg (165lb) MAX ideally
suited for photo and motion picture studios and location applications.

1. Prima di utilizzare il prodotto, leggete con attenzione queste istruzioni.
2. Il prodotto va utilizzato esclusivamente da personale addestrato.

4. È vietato applicare carichi che non gravino in verticale fig. 1
5. Il responsabile della sicurezza o un dirigente con mandato alla sicurezza del set,
dello studio, del cantiere, ecc. deve verificare l’adeguata solidità delle pareti e/o
dei pilastri sui quali si intende installare il CROSSPOLE. I valori di spinta esercitati
dal CROSSPOLE sono indicati nella tabella TAB.1. Per utili consigli sui tipi di pareti
che consentono l’uso del CROSSPOLE e sulla scelta delle posizioni più indicate per
l’installazione, fare riferimento all’APPENDICE A.

6. Il responsabile della sicurezza o un dirigente con mandato alla sicurezza del set, dello
studio, del cantiere, ecc. deve verificare la corretta installazione del CROSSPOLE,
accertandosi anche che l’inarcamento (freccia) del CROSSPOLE dopo l’installazione
e prima di applicare qualunque carico (fig. 2), sia conforme ai valori prescritti in
TAB.2.
7. Prima di procedere con l’installazione, verificare che i tubi non siano danneggiati.
8. Quando il CROSSPOLE viene installato tra pareti distanti oltre 2m è obbligatorio
usare due o più dispositivi, montati paralleli o incrociati e accoppiati tramite il
CROSSCOUPLER (COD X4560) non incluso nel kit. In ogni caso, il carico massimo
non deve oltrepassare i 75kg (fig. 3-4).
9. Il precarico del dispositivo tramite l’apposita leva del supporto espandibile va
eseguito esclusivamente a CROSSPOLE scarico da qualunque peso
10. È tassativamente proibito sospendere persone o animali al CROSSPOLE.
11. Il CROSSPOLE va usato esclusivamente per carichi statici, senza parti in movimento
o oscillanti.
12. Quando il CROSSPOLE è carico, le persone non devono passarvi sotto.
13. Il CROSSPOLE va impiegato a temperature comprese tra -20°C e 60°C.

5. The safety engineer or a manager with safety mandate for the set, studio, yard, etc.
must check the proper solidity of the walls and/or pillars where the CROSSPOLE is
going to be installed. Thrust values exercised by the CROSSPOLE are indicated in
table TAB1. For useful tips on the types of walls allowing the use of the CROSSPOLE
and how to choose the best suited position for installation, refer to APPENDIX A.

6. The safety engineer or a manager with safety mandate for the set, studio, yard,
etc. must check the correct installation of the CROSSPOLE, also verifying that the
Crosspole’s (deflections) after installation and without any payload installed fig. 2, are
compliant with values indicated in TAB. 2.
7. Before any installation, check that the tubes are not damaged.
8. When the CROSSPOLE is installed between walls spacing more than 2m (6.5 ft) it is
mandatory to use two or more devices, parallel- or cross-mounted, and coupled via
the CROSSCOUPLER (COD X4560) not included in kit. In any case, the maximum
payload cannot exceed 75kg (165 lb), fig. 3-4.
9. Pre-loading the device by the dedicated lever on the Expander support must be done
exclusively when the CROSSPOLE is unloaded
10. Use supporting people or animals is strictly forbidden.
11. Use only for stationary payloads, without moving parts hanging from the
CROSSPOLE.
12. When the Crosspole is loaded, people cannot pass below the device.
13. The Crosspole must be used at temperatures between -20°C and 60°C (-4°F – 140°F)

I. Verificare la solidità delle pareti come indicato al punto 5 in “Disposizioni per l’utilizzo
in sicurezza”

III. Solo per il modello X400KIT, selezionare fra le tre serie quella più adatta a coprire la
distanza misurata come da TAB. 3.

IV. Assemblare il primo CROSSPOLE seguendo la procedura illustrata in fig. 5.
V. Azzerare il dispositivo di precarico sul supporto espandibile, impostandolo sulla
posizione START (fig. 6).
VI. Regolare l’accoppiamento telescopico in modo che i due supporti si trovino a
contatto delle pareti, accertandosi di non superare l’indicazione STOP sul tubo ø45
(fig. 7).
VII. Stringere il manicotto di bloccaggio avvitando entrambe le manopole con una coppia
di serraggio minima di 10 Nm (fig. 8).
VIII. Verificare che il supporto espandibile e quello fisso siano posizionati correttamente
effettuando le seguenti operazioni:
a. Verificare che ciascun supporto sia perfettamente orizzontale ispezionando la
relativa livella a bolla (fig. 9).
b. Verificare che le parti corrispondenti dei due supporti si trovino alla stessa
distanza da un comune piano orizzontale di riferimento, come il pavimento o il
soffitto (fig. 10).
c. Verificare che le parti corrispondenti dei due supporti si trovino alla stessa
distanza da un comune piano verticale di riferimento, come un angolo della
stanza, un pilastro, ecc. (fig. 11).

I. Test the solidity of the walls according to step 5 in “Specification for safety use”

III. For X400KIT only, select among the three series the one suited to cover the measured

IV. Assemble the first CROSSPOLE following the steps indicated in fig. 5.
V. Reset to zero the pre-load governor found on the expander support, setting it on
START position fig. 6.
VI. Adjust the telescopic coupling so that the two supports are in contact with the walls,
taking care not to go beyond the STOP mark on ø45 (ø 1 3/4 inch) tube fig. 7.
VII. Lock the locking collar by screwing both knobs with a minimum tightening torque of
10 Nm (8 lb ft) fig. 8.
VIII. Check that both the Expander and the Fixed supports are positioned correctly by
carrying out the following measurements.
a. Verify that each support is perfectly horizontal by inspecting its own spirit level fig. 9.
b. Verify that correspondent parts of the two supports are spaced the same from a
common horizontal plane (floor o ceiling) fig. 10.
c. Verify that corresponding parts of the two supports are spaced the same from a
common vertical plane (corner of the room or structural vertical beam, etc) fig. 11.

IX. Ricontrollare che l’indicatore di precarico sia sulla posizione START (fig. 12). In
caso contrario, azzerarlo ruotando in senso antiorario il tubo in corrispondenza del
supporto espandibile (fig. 13).
X. Precaricare il CROSSPOLE ruotando la leva in modo che il riferimento sulla scala
graduata corrisponda alla distanza tra la pareti. Per distanze diverse da quelle
presenti sulla scala graduata, scegliere una posizione proporzionale, eventualmente
arrotondata verso i valori alti (fig. 14). Ad esempio, se si lavora con una distanza tra
i muri di 4,5 m, si deve portare l’indice in una posizione intermedia fra i 4 m e i 5 m
sulla scala.
XI. Controllare che la flessione (freccia) al centro corrisponda ai dati indicati nella TAB. 2.

XII. Provare l’insieme sollecitando l’asta con le mani in differenti direzioni (fig. 15-16).
XIII. Installare un altro CROSSPOLE seguendo la medesima procedura dei punti I-XII,
facendo in modo che, una volta precaricato, il secondo CROSSPOLE possa essere
collegato al primo CROSSPOLE tramite il CROSSCOUPLER (fig. 4-5).

IX. Re-check that the pre-load indicator is on START position, fig. 12. Otherwise, reset it
by rotating the tube near the Expander support counterclockwise fig. 13.
X. Pre-load the CROSSPOLE by turning the lever so that the mark on the graduated
scale matches the wall spacing. For distances other than the ones present in the
graduated scale, choose a proportional position by rounding it up to the higher value
fig. 14. If I’m working with 4,5 m (15ft) wall distance, I need to move the index in the
middle between the 4 m (13.5 ft) point on the scale and 5 m (16.5 ft) point on the
scale.
XI. Check that the center set deflection complies with data indicated in TAB. 2.

XII. Test the set up by hand-stressing the boom in different directions fig. 15-16
XIII. Install another CROSSPOLE following steps I-XII, taking care that, once pre-loaded,
the second CROSSPOLE can be connected to the first CROSSPOLE via the
CROSSCOUPLER fig. 4-5.
