4 Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
1. Glue the Flap and Aileron hinges in place
using 30 minute epoxy. Make sure you
protect the hinge point with light grease or
oil before glueing to prevent the hinge from
binding up.
FLAP SERVO
2. Install the Flap servo onto the mounting box
with the harware provided with the servo.
3. Glue the Servo mount onto the mounting plate
making sure to center the horn in the slot and
center the mounting box onto the plate so the
box does not hit the mounting frame when
installed in the wing.
AILERON SERVO
4. Measure the servo position and glue the
mounting blocks onto the mounting plate for
the Aileron servo.
Then screw the servo in place with the hardware
supplied with the servo.
FITTING AILERON & FLAP SERVOS TO WINGS

5Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
5. Put a drop of thin C.A onto each of the screw
holes to harden the wood, once this had dried
you can mount the Flap and Aileron servos.
6. Align the Aileron control horns with the servo
horn and screw into place. Place a drop
of thin C.A into each of the screw holes to
harden the wood before inserting the screws.
AILERON PUSHROD
7. Install the pushrod and adjust to the correct
length. Put a small length of silicone fuel
tube over the clevis to stop the clevis from
accidently opening in flight. Always tighten
the locking nuts once the adjustments are
finalized.
FLAP PUSHROD
8. Repeat the same procedure for the Flap
servos. Notice the horn on the Flap servo is
off set away from the hinge line to allow for
more flap travel.

LANDING GEAR
9. Connect the air tube onto the retract unit &
trial fit into the wing, once satisfied with the
alignment screw the retract unit in with the
hardware provided.
The wheel must be aligned so it is parallel
to the wing root rib. When satisfied with
the alignment, locktite the grub screws into
place.
10. Install the wing tubes as shown.
Larger rear wing tube should extend 65mm
out from the wing root rib and is secured with
a screw.
Smaller forward wing tube should be extend
40mm out from the wing root rib, this is glued
in place using 15min epoxy.
11. Once the retract is fitted, the wheel well
cover can be trimmed for best fit and glued
into place.
WING TANKS
12. The wing tanks can be made removeable by
sliding them onto the pre-installed retaining
clips. However they can also be glued in
place if you have no intention of removing
them later.

7Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
13. Make up the duct tube using the mylar sheet
provided, as there are a wide variety of fan
units that can be used, you will need to find
out what the optimal tube outlet diameter
should be for your fan. Use a good quality
duct tape to seal the join both inside and out
as you don’t want the tube to split in flight.
14. Cut a slot in the tube for the ESC wires &
also put a loop of tape on the top of the tube
to act as a handle to simplify the installation
process
15. Insert the fan and tube assembly into the
model and mount the fan onto the rails
16. Trim off the excess duct tube at the rear of
the fuselage.
FITTING ELECTRIC DUCTED FAN UNIT

8 Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
17. Insert the inlet duct in from the font of the
fuselage and attach to the front of the fan.
RETRACT INSTALLATION
18. Fit the retract servo and valve onto the tray
provided.
19. and glue the assembly into the belly of the
fuselage.
20 Screw the nose retract assembly into place
with the screws provided.

9Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
21. Fit the nose wheel steering servo into place
and connect the steering cables as shown.
22. Adjust the length of the gear door closing
pushrods and connect to the doors. The
doors should close tight when the wheel is
retracted.
23. Also attach the springs onto the control cable
to stop the cable catching on the leg.
24. Install the Air tank and filling valve, then
connect the air lines as shown in the
illustration.

10 Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
25. Install the Rudder servo into the base of the
fin using the same method described earlier
for the Flap servo. It is a good idea to attach
a 1000mm extension lead to the servo before
the fin is attached.
26. Install the 2 elevator servos into the fin.
Once again, now is a good time to attach the
1000mm extension leads onto the servos.
27 Place the pre-painted cover over the servo.
This can be held in place with small screws
or very thin double sided tape.
28. Glue the rudder into place and install the
control horn and pushrod as described
previously for the flap servo installation.
FITTING HORIZONTAL STABILIZER & RUDDER

11Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
29. Using coarse sandpaper, remove the paint
from the base of the fin on the fuselage to
ensure the best adhesion from the glue when
the fin is installed.
30. Use masking tape to protect the fin and
fuselage from excess glue. Trial fit the fin into
place with the aluminium guide tubes and
thread the servo leads into the fuselage.
31. Once satisfied with the fit, glue the fin and
guide tubes into place with 30minute epoxy.
32. Insert the horizontal stabilizer into place and
measure the distance from the wing tips to
the stabilizer tips to ensure the stabilizer is
square to the wings. Once satisfied with the
alignment, mark the outline of the fin onto the
stabilizer top and bottom.

12 Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
33. Remove the stabilizer from the fin and
carefully trim the covering away using a
very sharp knife. Be very careful not to cut
into the balsa sheeting as this will weaken
the structure considerably and may cause a
failure in flight.
34. Be very careful not to cut into the balsa
sheeting as this will weaken the structure
considerably and may cause a failure in flight.
35. Re-install the horizontal stabilizer into the fin
and make sure the alignment is correct as
shown.
36. Once satisfied with the alignment glue the
stabilizer into place first using Thin C.A to
soak into the wood then apply Medium C.A to
create a fillet of glue over the join.

13Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
37 Install the horizontal stabilizer fairings using
thin double sided tape or C.A.
38. Glue the Elevators into place with the C.A
hinges supplied. Use thin C.A on the top
and bottom of the hinge to ensure maximum
adhesion.
39. Screw the elevator horns into place using
the screws and retaining plates provided.
40. Make up and fit the Elevator control rods.
Note the orientation of the servo horn on the
left and right. This will reduce any elevator
differential.

14 Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
41. Insure elevators move evenly and in unison in
both directions.
42. Install the Receiver, Battery and Switch In a
practical position. You will need to be mindful
of the C.G position when positioning the
receiver battery.
43 Install the two anti crush braces into the top
of the fuselage using the 3mm cap screws &
locking nuts.
44. Detail the instrument panel and insert into
place, a few drops of CA may be used for this
purpose. You can also fit a pilot figure in at
this time also.

15Awesome MiG-15 Instruction Manual
45. The Cannons can be glued into place on the
nose, either side of the gear doors.
46. Wing Fences can be glued into place. Be
careful not to glue the flaps in the up position
with the wing fence.
47. C.G Position is located 210mm back from the
Leading Edge of the Wing at the root.
48. The following Control throws are all
measured at the widest point of each control
surface.
Aileron: 15mm Up 15mm Down
Elevator: 20mm Up 20mm Down
Rudder: 30mm Left 30mm Right
Flap: 15mm Down Takeoff
Flap: 80mm Down Landing
