Getting started with AwoX StriimSOUND
Welcome
Congratulations and thank you for choosing the AwoX StriimSOUND Wi-Fi,
Ethernet, and Bluetooth-enabled music streaming system. With this versatile
and high quality audio device, you get:
A fun and easy way to play music from many sources, including your Apple
iOS™ or Google Android™ smartphone or tablet, PC or Mac(1), the Internet,
and USB drives
Access to on-line music services and hundreds of Internet radio stations(2)
AwoX media player software for your iPhone®, iPad®, iPod touch®, or
Android smartphone (3)

Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?
StriimSOUND supports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi/Ethernet connections.
Bluetooth: For a simple music loudspeaker solution, you may choose to simply
stream music from your smartphone or tablet to StriimSOUND via Bluetooth.
This option may only be used to play music stored locally on your mobile
device.
LED color in Bluetooth mode:
Stable blue when StriimSOUND is connected to a Bluetooth source
Blinking alternatively blue/red when not connected
Blinking blue when connection is ongoing
Wi-Fi/Ethernet: Network features enable you to connect to a home Internet
network to access on-line music via Internet radio stations, play music from
diverse sources, and to create wireless music zones using several compatible
AwoX Striim devices. With its higher bandwidth, this type of network
connection generally offers better sound quality.
LED color in Wi-Fi/Ethernet mode:
Stable purple when StriimSOUND is connected to the network
Blinking alternatively purple/red when not connected
Blinking purple when connection is ongoing.

Notes:
1. Plugging an Ethernet cable into your StriimSOUND speaker turns off Wi-Fi
functionality.
2. StriimSOUND extends the range of your home Wi-Fi network. In Wi-Fi
mode, the speaker automatically serves as a wireless range extender for
other devices. When you scan for Wi-Fi networks with your device (such as
a computer, smartphone, or tablet), you will see a network with the same
name as your regular network, with a “-EXT” extension. You may simply
choose to connect to this network access point using the same key or
password as your regular access point.

Using StriimSOUND via Bluetooth
Setting up the Bluetooth connection to play music depends on your player. In
most cases it is a simple one-step process to connect and play as described
here. Check your player’s instructions for specific details.
Note: When using Bluetooth to stream music from your music player
to a StriimSOUND speaker, product features requiring Internet access
are not available. Use the manual controls on the speaker for volume,
source selection, presets, etc.
Follow these simple steps to use your StriimSOUND via Bluetooth:
1. Plug the AC adapter into StriimSOUND and an electrical power outlet.
2. Press the ON/OFF button to turn the speaker on.
3. Wait a few seconds while the system starts. The LED will be RED during
boot, then it will blink red and purple alternatively.
4. Press the source selector until the LED blinks blue/red.
5. Press the pairing button (LED light blinks blue) to accept the
connection from your device.
6. Activate Bluetooth on your music player, scan for new Bluetooth devices,
and select your StriimSOUND speaker. If you are prompted to enter a PIN
code, type 0000 (four zeros).
7. Connect to StriimSOUND using a “Connect to audio device” or similar
command, depending on your device. The LED becomes stable blue.
8. Select a track or playlist and hit PLAY!
9. Sit back and enjoy your music.

Using Striim CONTROL and Wi-Fi/Ethernet
features
1. To access network and Internet services with your StriimSOUND system,
start by downloading the free AwoX media app for your device:
Apple iPhone,
iPad, iPod touch
Download and install AwoX Striim
CONTROL™ software from the App
Store.
Google Android
devices
Download and install AwoX Striim
CONTROL™ software from the Google
Play Store.
2. On your Apple or Android device, make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and use the
device’s settings to connect to your home network.

Network setup
If your Internet router supports WPS simplified wireless setup
WPS enables you to add new Wi-Fi
devices to your network at the touch
of a button. If your Internet router
supports WPS, press the WPS button
on the router and then press the WPS
button on your StriimSOUND. The
two devices will recognize each other
automatically and you may begin
using the AwoX Striim CONTROL
application right away. Otherwise, the
installation wizard runs as described
here.
1. Plug the AC adapter into
StriimSOUND and an electrical

3. Wait a few seconds while the system starts, and then press the source
selector until the LED turns red.
4. Tap the launcher icon on your device to run AwoX Striim CONTROL.
5. The setup wizard starts if no AwoX Striim devices are found .
6. Choose to install AwoX StriimSOUND.
7. The wizard guides you through the steps to connect your AwoX
StriimSOUND to your home network so you can begin playing your music.

Using AwoX Striim CONTROL
Note: the instructions provided here are identical for devices running Apple
iOS and Google Android operating systems.
Application overview
AwoX Striim CONTROL finds and plays music from your various media sources.
Here is an overview of the application layout.

Choosing your music
Tap on the Find Music tab to see available music sources.
The source bar contains Playlists you create, Local music
on your device, StriimSOUND, and any other media
sources you may have available on your network.
Accessing music via your StriimSOUND
1. Tap to select StriimSOUND in the source bar.
2. Select the desired option: Internet Radio, Deezer or USB Storage.
Tap on Find

Inside the application, the “Exit” button
becomes a “Back” button.

To play radio stations on the Internet, tap on Internet Radio:
-Navigate through countries, favorites, and other options to choose the
music you want to hear.
-When you tap directly on a station, the application switches to the Play
tab and your selection begins to play.
-Tap on for other options (see Playlists and queues).
3. To play music from the Deezer music service, you must have a free or
subscription Deezer account (see www.deezer.com for more details):
-To enter your account information, tap on the Settings My Deezer
account
-Tap on to Modify or Delete account information.
-Return to the Find Music tab, tap on StriimSOUND Deezer
4. To play music from USB Storage:
-Plug a USB drive into the USB port on your StriimSOUND.
-Tap USB Storage and navigate through the folders on the drive.
-When you tap directly on a selection, the application switches to the
Now Playing tab and your selection begins to play.
-Tap on for other options (see Playlists and queues).

Playing local media from your iOS or Android device
1. Tap to select Local Music in the source bar

1. Swipe the Source Bar to choose the desired server or device.
2. Navigate in the list of songs to choose the music you want to hear.

(1) To play music from an Apple® Mac computer, you must use the free AwoX
StriimSERVER. The software is also available free for Windows computers. See
next section.

Using AwoX StriimSERVER
With versions for Mac and Windows, AwoX Media Server makes your home
audio library available as a source to Striim devices in your network.
StriimSERVER works exclusively with AwoX Striim products. Follow these steps
to get AwoX StriimSERVER up and running on your computer:
1. You will find the StriimSERVER setup application on the CD-ROM provided
with your product. You may also choose to download it from here:
http://www.awox.com/mediaservers.
2. Navigate to CD-ROM or download folder on your computer and double-
click on the StriimSERVER installer for Mac or Windows, depending on your
operating system, and follow the instructions on your screen.
3. Launch StriimSERVER by clicking on the StriimSERVER icon installed on your
computer’s desktop ( ). Allow access to your private networks if
prompted by the application.
4. The application opens to the Settings window:

5. Make sure the server is on (when the Stop the server button is displayed,
which is the default setting).
6. Click on Settings:
-Use the Server Name field to change the name of your server as it will
be seen in your network.
-Select the Media Types that you would like to be able to share (make
sure to select Music for use with StriimSOUND).
7. Click on Apply when to save your changes.
8. Click on Library Add to add media folders to your library.
9. Browse your hard drive to choose a folder, then click on Select Folder to
include the folder in the library published by StriimSERVER.
10. If you make changes to a media library on your computer, click on
Library Refresh. If you encounter any problems with the file list
display, click on Rebuild.

11. Your StriimSERVER media library is now appears as a source in the
Striim CONTROL source bar.
12. You may turn the server off by clicking on Settings Stop the
server. To restart the server, simply click this same button.

Overview of the Play tab
The Play tab show the music that you have selected to play, and provides
standard player controls.
