The AzureWaveIEEE 802.11 b/gPCI-Express WirelessModuleisan easy-to-usewirelesslocal
area network(WLAN)adapterwhichisdesigned forhomeorofficeuse. Direct Sequence
Spread Spectrum(DSSS), ComplementaryCode Keying (CCK),and OrthogonalFrequency
Division Multiplexing (OFDM)baseband processingareimplemented tosupport allIEEE
802.11b,and 802.11gdatarates.Differentialphaseshift keying modulation schemes, DBPSK
and DQPSK withdatascrambling capability, areavailable,along withcomplementarycode
keyingtoprovidedataratesof 1,2,5.5, and11Mbps,withlongorshort preamble.Ahigh-speed
Fast FourierTransform(FFT)/InverseFastFourierTransform(IFFT)combined withBPSK,

1.3.1Ad-Hocmode
Ad-Hocwireless networks bring togetherworkstationsand computerstoact asserverstoall
otherusersonthe networkwithout
complexinfrastructure, setup or
administration. Userson thenetworkcan
sharefiles,printers.Wheninad hocmode,
the AzureWaveIEEE 802.11b/g
PCI-Express Wireless Moduleconnectsto
anotherwireless devicewithinits effective
range and communicateswitheachother
inthe sameLANworkgroup. Selectthis
configuration when no access pointis
presentinyourwireless network.
1.3.2Infrastructuremode
The biggest differencebetween
infrastructuremode and ad-hocmode is
thatitincludesan accesspoint. In
infrastructuremode, an accesspoint
establishesthe networkthat provides
wirelesslinks inthe validating rangefor
clientstocommunicatewitheachother
orwithawired networktothe internet.
Onan infrastructurenetwork, the access
point maymanag the bandwidthto
maximizeutilization. Infrastructure
networking hasthe following advantagesoverad-hocnetworking:
l Range Extension
Eachwireless LANenabled computerwithinthe rangeofthe access pointcan communicate
withotherwireless LANenabled computerswithinthe validrangeof signalfromthe access
point.
l Roaming
Awireless LANenabled computercan physicallymovefromthe operating rangeof one
access point toanotherwithoutlosing connection tothe LAN.Aquick association

Wireless Moduleactsastheaccess point that
provideswireless links inthevalidatingrangeto
client stationstothe internet.
Yoursystemshouldsatisfythefollowing two
requirementstoapplythismode:
l The systemyou use alreadyconnectstothe
internetorintranet through anotherone
Ethernet adapter.
l You areusing Windows®2000, XPorServer2003 operation system

Tocompletethe hardwareinstallation of AzureWave802.11b/gPCI Express WLANModule,
you onlyneedtoinstallthe moveabledipolarantenna at the
rearof motherboard.
Installingtheantenna:
l Locatethewireless LANantenna porton themotherboard
rearpanel.
l Connect theantenna twist-onconnector(female)tothe
wirelessLANantenna port (male)
l Placetheantenna atan elevated location toenhanceyour
wirelessLANvalidcoverage.

3.1 Launch WiFi-APSoloWizard
Inthissection,you willobtaindetailinstructioninsetting wireless configurationbyfollowing
WiFi-APSoloWizard. PleaserefertoChapter1.4tounderstandthe networktypesthe
AzureWaveIEEE 802.11 b/gPCI-Express Wireless Modulesupports.
Inthe first timeinstallation, WiFi-APSoloWizard isexecuted immediatelyafterinstallation to
helpyou setthe properwireless configuration.
Inaddition,you couldlaunchitfromeitherprogrammenu
orWireless LANManagement GUI.

3.2 Wi-SetupWizardSteps
Whateverwhichwireless configurationyouwouldsetup,
the first scene of WiFi-APSoloWizard is Select
OperationMode”dialogthat showsasrightpicture.You
couldselecteitherstation orAPmode fromthefirst step.
ForAd-hocand infrastructuretype configuration, you
shouldselect Station mode.The softwareaccess point
configuration couldbe archived byselectAPmode.

Set the operation mode tobe Station”. Followsteps
