Calibration Procedure for TYPE “B” Charging Scales
NOTE 1: IMPORTANT, PLEASE NOTE! Calibration must be performed using a calibrated or known
weight standard of between 4.5 and 100 kg (10 and 220 lb) with an accuracy of ±0.057 kg (±1/8 lb).
NOTE 2: If an error occurs at any time during calibration, turn the unit OFF and remove the battery for at
least 20 seconds.
1. Press and hold the UNIT and TARE buttons. While holding both of those buttons, press the ON
button and release it while continuing to hold both the UNIT and TARE buttons. Hold both
buttons until the text “SET-1” appears.
2. Press UNIT. The text “SET-11” will appear.
3. Press UNIT again. The text “CAL” will appear for a short period of time, followed by a number
that should fall within the range of 5000 to 6500. If the displayed number does not fall within that
range, then open the display case (2 screws visible on the back, and 2 screws accessed by removing
the battery door) and adjust VR1 (100K potentiometer on the circuit board) until the displayed
number falls within the specified range.
4. Press TARE. The text “ZERO” will appear in the bottom left of the display.
5. Place weight standard on the platform. Refer to NOTE 1 above.
6. Press UNIT. The text “GOOD” should appear for a short period of time.
7. A number will then appear on the screen with its rightmost digit flashing. Enter the weight of the
calibration standard by using the TARE button to adjust the value of the digits and the UNIT
button to move between digits.
IMPORTANT! The weight of the standard must be entered in kilograms. To convert
pounds to kilograms, multiply by a factor 0.45. (For example: 20 lb x 0.45 = 9 kg.)
8. After the correct value has been entered, press and hold the UNIT and TARE buttons
simultaneously until the text “GOOD” appears followed by the text “SET-12.” Turn the unit OFF
and remove the standard weight. The scale is now calibrated.
9. Turn the unit back ON and place any known test weight on the scale to verify calibration.
Remember to press the UNIT button for correct unit of measure for the weight applied.
10. This completes the calibration procedure. Press OFF.
